JMizzlin from the Portrait thread:

Meant to say before, but I really like this one, Turnip. I don't know if it's the direction of the smudges or how you did your darker highlights, but it's really appealing.

Yes, trying to keep myself drawing even if I don't feel like it, even just a bit.

As promised, a crossover from the Portrait Thread:

I feel ya. It's hard to get going some days. Portrait thread's usually a good fix for that, but the # of non-blurry/non-prop photos have been pretty scarce of late. Ah well. The blue shadowing you used for yours is pretty cool, btw. I tried to do purple/red like that once, but it came out looking the guy had gone 5 rounds with Tyson...

But the stripes are the most fun to draw! :D Great job though, even without the strips. I like how you have him declaring his distaste of stripes.

Thanks. I think the blue shadowing turned out oookaaaaay, but I didn't really get the effect that I was trying to achieve. But I was trying to to a quick thing and didn't want to spend too much time fussing with it, so ehh.

Speaking of quick sketches:

Thanks, yo~ You're crazy, though. Stripes on clothing are the devil. I am thinking I might revisit it and do an underlay of stolen red stripes that'll bleed into the background, however. Bit of color or something for a change.

For the blue shadowing, I think the effect still works, especially if you pull back when looking at it. For a quick experiment, it turned out pretty cool, at any rate. Liking the play on the latest portrait too. Might have to try out some stuff myself.

Id rather not muck up the thread with bad art, but if you insist I'll post something soon lol

Don't think just post post post.

Thanks! I like it a lot too, it's pretty rare that I can create a reasonable likeness with minimal brush strokes.

Those are both good, you're on a roll! They're a bit looser than your usual work, but I don't think it's bad or detracts. But I'm the king of sketchy, so what do I know.

Finished my first ever digital drawing (following a tutorial)

I'm really satisfied with the result :D

Very nice! Do you mind sharing the tutorial? I'd love to check it out.

I've been noodling with this unsuccessful portrait of someone from the Portrait Thread for the past few days. I guess it's successful in the graphic and stylized look I was trying to achieve, something a bit like Patrick Nagel, now that I look at it. But I couldn't get it to look enough like her, so ehh. I made her look too chubby or something. But I suppose it was a good experiment.

Oh wow, were you sick? Or just tired? Also, I know your third portrait is MediEvil, but who are the first two? Is the first one Dante?

Running on five hours of sleep finally caught up to me. First guy is Angelo from Dragon Quest 8: Journey of the Cursed King (available now for the Nintendo 3DS, New Nintendo 3DS and Nintendo 2DS) and the other is Hector from Fire Emblem 6.

Urgh I really need to sit down and do figure drawing. Maybe that'll be next week's project.

Trying not to be scared of high-ish contrast in colors

Ah, I just bought DQ8 for the 3DS! Now to just find the time to play it. The silver hair and red jacket made me automatically think of DMC.

Just a quick sketch thing for today. Might be fun to flesh out later.

^Why "Ooof", Turnip? Doesn't look bad! I like the impressionistic background you have going on.

I really need to clean some of these up. I think they'd look a lot better afterwords. But this one took maybe about 45 minutes before I had to go to work, so no luck. Maybe I'll revisit them later on.

Ah, figured it'd be something to that effect, but I wasn't sure if it was gonna be like, "bodies" or "torsos" or "bones" or something to that effect.

This might be my favorite painting of yours, so far. I really like the values and lighting on her legs, and the sheer semi transparency on her left arm.

Thanks! I think it turned out reasonably well, I guess that can happen if you spend longer than 20 minutes on something.

Two 30m studies:

Horizontal / lying down figures are the hardest for me, because it's easy to get the proportions wrong. But I think I'm getting better, and this one turned out pretty well.

I don't like this one too much because of the odd forced perspective and position. I guess it came out okay considering, and there are some parts that I think turned out alright.

Hey Turnip, we've actually lasted a month! I don't know about you, but I'm surprised. I wasn't sure if I was going to be able to do it, but it seems to be doable.

This was probably around 1.5 hours. Definitely building some new muscles with these mechanical drawings, which are out of my comfort zone.

Yeah, one month seemed to be pretty doable, but I'm not sure if I'll be able to keep it up the whole year, but hey point in not trying.

AND MAYBE BY POSTING IN THIS THREAD EVERYDAY OTHER PEOPLE WILL SEE IT AND JOIN THE FUN.

Hopefully! So far I think Servbot and H.Protagonist were the only ones attempting to do daily drawings.
