Horizon Zero Dawn | Cinematic Trailer

I hope we see some Witcher/Mass Effect style storytelling where your choices affect outcomes. What's the point of letting the character choose what to say if it's just used for info dumping?

Also, what are the chances for romance options? Is the male audience ready to play a girl that can hook up with a guy?

This game has quest designers from Witcher and the lead writer from Fallout New Vegas, I have hope that the story and outcomes will be good.

I highly doubt it. And I do think unfortunately that it's just because it's a female who would have a male companion. I hate thinking that way, but I honestly think that's why they're afraid to do it.

There's an interview that touches all that, short answer: No, and no.

Edit: Actually I think they didn't say anything regarding romance, that was my own.

God this game is kind of unbelievably pretty. I don't have a PS4 and I'm thinking about getting a Pro just for this. The combat looks really fun from what I've seen. Hope the story holds up!

There will be some quests where you get to make choices. But don't expect anything as complex as in the witcher 3 or mass effect.

None.

In addition, Aloy will meet various colorful characters on her journey through side quests and the main story. Remember, Aloy is searching for answers and a place to belong. We were told depending on the relationships and choices she makes, some characters appear again later in the story. We're guessing with all the people she meets in the different tribes on her trek, she's bound to foster some relationships.

Does anyone actually read what Loudninja posts? In every single thread people show the same concerns and in every single thread he shows the concern isn't warranted. It's weird to me.

I hope this dino is still in the final game:

That's early concept art. Don't expect that exact design in the final game. They never showed that exact dino look anyways...

I still expect to see that Baryonyx/Suchomimus type of machine in the final game. A different concept art featuring what seems to be it was shown in some videos such as "Evolution of the Machines". Based on the few concept art we've seen so far, I'm going to assume that this machine will reign over the snowy/mountainous regions, which we didn't see much of.

They aren't going to show everything, right? :D

I remember hearing an interview where they stated that quests or quest steps were easy to implement. If its a big map hopefully there'll be a shit ton of stuff to do. Just hoping it is fairly varied.

Also, if their pipeline/workflow allows it, I wonder if we'll see some sort of expansion or expansions on a regular basis?

I should've specified a bit more; like some more sci-fi type gear? The tribal thing isn't my cup of tea much. If they eventually have some bad-ass Xenoblade type gear by end game, consider me hyped. If you're hunting these cool looking scifi creature robots, should it not be awesome that as a trophy for a kill, you wear their robotic pelts, per se?

I mean you used parts from the robot but nothing that crazy from what I seen.

What do we know about other mechanics?

As far as I know in an RPG like that the most important thing is story, quests and combat, we know that the combat seems to be like one of the best ever in an open world RPG, the other big and even more important factor is story (which includes lore and world building) and quest variety, we don't know much about those enough to see if its lacking, if they won't provide interesting and varied quests and an interesting story, lore etc so obviously the game would fail no matter how good the combat is, it's left to be seen if they succeeds in that.

There's a basic Line of sight Stealth System with forgiving Stealth Attacks.

The Climbing is Like Uncharted so it's not noteworthy.

Dialogue options are for getting additional info according to the devs and is not a dialogue system like Fallout or something.

And that's pretty much it for major mechanics or systems outside combat.

It's pretty clear where they put the focus on in this game: combat and combat variety.

I don't think this is completely accurate. The story isn't branching like say Mass Effect or The Witcher 3, but it isn't complete window dressing either. Your interactions with NPC can have some consequence ie making friendships and having them help you in your quest and vice versa.

It might have an impact in some quests, but I'm pretty sure that they've commented that this dialogue system is mostly for linear information and not really for role playing.

And for what the focus of the game is, it's a good system because I can shut down conversations quickly and get to killing robos faster.

I mean I posted this on this page.
