Horizon Zero Dawn | Cinematic Trailer

What are the chances we get some PS4 Pro gameplay impressions and footage? Or are they going to unveil the Pro footage in the 11th hour?

I want to see 2160c so bad.

We actually already saw Pro footage:

I'm by the way super hyped. I hope we will see some new zones, enemies and what side quests are like in this game. I'd also like to see what the bigger towns/cities look like in this game. They are always my favorite places in RPGs.

This late? Did Sony just make too many of them? Because of that's the case, this is worthless as a collectors piece but I'm glad I can get my hands on one

I'm not a collector so I don't know the culture... but is the purpose of collecting to be able to say you have things other people don't have? Seems kinda messed up

What do you guys think about their comments on world size?

I don't care so much about "size of worlds" nowadays in games, so much so as the quality of content ( main story, side missions ), how dynamic they are gameplay/physics-wise, believability of the space & the fun of exploration.

A smaller world but filled with more discoverable elements like small settlements, occasional NPC bonfires, or unique moments are far preferable to a huge but empty open world. Even if a big world that has all those things must figure out the right balance, because too much or too little makes it feel weird.

One thing I dislike about non-FC Ubisoft games or some other more generic open world are how for how "undynamic" they feel. Basically they don't feel like a world built on a bunch of dynamic systems that can go crazy depending on how far you're willing to break the game, and are more like linear corridor games that are simply huge. Hitman, MGSV are examples of games where there really are deep systems that make the world feel alive. I don't need open-world games to all be like that, but the more open you are, the more you should embrace systems to make the world less constrained by the strict rules of your narrative and design.

Believability of the space boils down to "if you tell me X, don't show me Y." Horizon, having huge behemoths of machines roaming around, must have wider areas to allow for the believability of the animal behaviour. Herds and packs must be in quantities that are believable, distance between settlements must feel believable, when transition between snowy area region from non-snowy region, the approach to flora and fauna must be believable. And with that comes the need to design spaces well. A lot of times, size is necessary to instill the illusion of a believable world.

Fun is just what is is... fun. Climbing, moving around, etc. Ultimately it is a game, and travelling shouldn't feel like a chore.

For me, for exploration to truly feel like exploration, the world has to be large enough to get lost in. That's all I'm hoping for. It doesn't have to be the size of The Witcher 3 but it has to be more than half the size in my opinion.

"It's not a real open world."
So we get:

- Trees with no leaves
- Action-RPG with no RPG
- Open-world with no openness

I'm almost quite positive someone will find the mental gymnastics to work "no gameplay, walking simulator" in there. But I'm quite confident no one will, we'll see.

I've got:

Lacks arboreal tree density
Not an RPG
Not an open world
GG track record concern
Ubi tower mechanic
'Just like Far Cry 4'
Not enough melee
Not enough ranged weapon choice
Narrative/script/story concern
'I have to play as a girl!?!'
Aloy 'Not hot.'

Thats cheating you just picked pretty much everything that is going to be mentioned.

Great list, only missing this:

Why the constant comparison with Zelda (especially Breath of the Wild) by the way? There are dozens of games/series that would come to my mind first before Zelda.
Bows, open-world, action-RPG, first party, nature.

"Automatic platforming/painted ledges like Uncharted."

Open world, massively popular games currently set to release near each other. That's about it though. From a gameplay perspective, this is not a comparison I would draw. Both games have far better, alternative games to draw comparisons too.

Is there melee combat in this game? Swords, daggers, etc, or is this going to be a 30-60hr game where we use nothing but a bow to take everything out.

The game looks gorgeous, but I really hope shooting arrows and bolting shit to the ground isn't all there is to the combat.

You can be sure it won't be just bows and arrows. Maybe guns in the late game?

Yes their is melee she uses a spear ,she will different tools and such for combat, you can set traps and make explosives as well..

The bow is her main weapon though, she has a slingshot as well that, you can hack some machines to fight alongside you.

They've shown melee takedowns, but I'm unaware if there's any melee combat besides that.

There are melee attacks for the spear from what we've seen, but so far it appears to be relatively undynamic.
