Jeph Loeb needs to be fired immediately. Marvel tv is a wasteland.
I think it's fun and entertaining to watch unlike Arrow. In Legends you get the different time periods, and cool ass Sara and a funny Mick. And Atom who can shrink. Just all these different abilities. Captain Steel has been a great addition, although Vixen is a complete waste.
I dropped out after the first two episodes. And seeing what happened between then and now (now, meaning this year's Flash/Arrow/LOT crossover) it looks like I made the right choice. I had so many questions about the cast change, like what happened to that tall girl that Cisco liked? And what happened to the leader guy who started the whole thing? And why is Nick Zano in it? It looks like they changed it up too much from the first couple of episodes.
Right now my schedule looks like this:
The show had a plot this year and last year, and that is why you think it is bad?
Does anyone have thoughts on Emerald City beyond the pilot? I'm curious where it's at.
IDK I was just hoping for some consistency for the cast since it's only been around for 2 seasons.

Shark Tank till the end of time, glad it does well.
There is consistency for the cast. You simply failed to watch it, so you don't know what happened. In the end, they simply wrote out one regular character and replaced her with two new people. And everyone rejoiced the minute she left. I think you need to stop watching a lot of shows if you have a problem with that.
I'm a Shark Tank addict. Only Friday show I watch. Usually I don't catch it until Saturday morning, it's the show I put on while eating breakfast and checking emails.
Black Sails is on Sundays now, starts tomorrow. Eugh, so many Sunday shows. I gotta spread them out over the week.
I think your enjoyment of Riverdale is directly proportional to how many British/Scandinavian small town crime dramas you've watched.I tried watching Riverdale.

Eh. It really didn't feel like one of those. Nor was the supposed Twin Peaks inspiration that apparent.I think your enjoyment of Riverdale is directly proportional to how many British/Scandinavian small town crime dramas you've watched.
For me it's the direction/cinematography. All the purposefully dark/gray/desaturated shots just felt like someone doing an impression of one of those types of shows.Eh. It really didn't feel like one of those. Nor was the supposed Twin Peaks inspiration that apparent.
But then again it was just the pilot and it seemed more concerned with setting up the characters so we got fairly little plot.
I really don't get the Nordic Noir comparisons.

Riverdale would be a good show if Jughead wore the crowd, but he doesn't so it isn't. Throw it in the trash can. Also Archie is supposed to be 15 but have a six-pack? jlawyeahok, gif
Archie having a six pack is 100% canonical

the DIC cartoon is NOT canonical, bitch
So there is an easy way for Riverdale to be saved and to get 4 days of DC again?
I think I presented a clear way forward for the show, incorporate the Red Circle/Dark Circle line of superheros into the universe.
I don't know what stronger show they currently have that could pair well with Riverdale, honestly.
Eh, the cinematography is decidedly more Twin Peaks than The Killing. And it's not especially Twink Peaks-y.For me it's the direction/cinematography. All the purposefully dark/gray/desaturated shots just felt like someone doing an impression of one of those types of shows.
That was a camp moment though, where the characters are pointing out how we're supposed to feel about a hot Archie.Eh, the cinematography is decidedly more Twin Peaks than The Killing. And it's not especially Twink Peaks-y.
The interplay between the dark and the neon colours was great. But definitely not Nordic Noir. I did not find the colour scheme "desaturated" and it just isn't Nordic Noir, nor is anything else really about the show really.
Take this totally random shot of Riverdale (yes the gif is quite badly compressed but it gets the point across):

It's pretty damn vibrant in its use of colour.
And this is what I think of when someone says Nordic Noir:

Actual desaturation. Emphasis on the greys and blues.
Maybe I'm just grumpy.
the fuck happened to Vampire Diaries? I knew it wasnt that hot but jesus 0.3? Wasnt it one of the top rated CW shows until recently, or semi-recently?
They lost the crown of highest rated show once Arrow started up.the fuck happened to Vampire Diaries? I knew it wasnt that hot but jesus 0.3? Wasnt it one of the top rated CW shows until recently, or semi-recently?

Not only did Nina Dobrev leave, the plot, scripts and all that got worse too. It all went downhill when Kevin left the team behind it. Every season was worse than the one prior. Only with Season 7 did it go slightly up again. The lead actress left a few seasons ago.

Yeah actually j just remember Season 4 being really weak besides the cure stuff but it slightly improved in the following seasons. The Kai season was great though. Show always excelled when it had the right villain. Damon, Katherina, Klaus.
That scene was in flashback and the only scene to feature actual desaturation (well it's more of a heavy colour filter). Most of the show really doesn't look like that. That was a camp moment though, where the characters are pointing out how we're supposed to feel about a hot Archie.
Here's another shirtless Archie scene:
Most of the show looks like this, through lighting (all of the interior shots lit so that character's faces have shadows on them) or something else.
Just scrubbing through the show again, it almost feels like they want the show to have an oppressive, morose tone that you just get from one of those detective shows where you want to kill yourself after you spend an hour with the saddest detective in the world.
Bron top. Riverdale bottom.
This was me. I think for me it was that I just don't give a single fuck about teen drama anymore. Also the normal teen dialogue is cringeworthy to me.

Forgive my out of hipness, but what does the expression "wore the crowd" mean?
I think he meant crown which I think jughead usually wears in the comicsForgive my out of hipness, but what does the expression "wore the crowd" mean?
I can see what you're saying, but god was the first half insufferable. The second half, when they dropped trying to incorporate up-to-date slang, it finally started to pick up. That was a fast turnaround to be honest.I think your enjoyment of Riverdale is directly proportional to how many British/Scandinavian small town crime dramas you've watched.
Oh sure, a lot of the show's look is done through lighting. All of the interior scenes, in particular stand out because American TV so often uses flat lighting for everything (or at least the terrible mainstream shows I watch lol). But I think it still tries to go for that tone and mood. It's missing those shots of the main characters standing around doing nothing while being engulfed by the oppressiveness of the mise en scene, but that's because a 40 minute show doesn't have the time to be that indulgent. That scene was in flashback and the only scene to feature actual desaturation (well it's more of a heavy colour filter). The show has a limited/muted palette of mostly earthy colours, yes. But it uses them vibrantly and accents them with even more vibrant neon highlights in certain shots.
The cinematographer used to work on Once Upon a Time, not something bleak and morose. And it shows (and I quite like the cinematography, even if some shots are a bit flat).
Bron top. Riverdale bottom.
I did my best to find as similar shots as I possibly could, but there isn't a lot of good shots of Bron out there.
At least to me the difference is striking.
edit:
Or with a not entirely fair comparison, but this is the discrepancy I'm talking about clearly illustrated:
I honestly was in shock after the Betty/Veronica kiss that I didn't know how to react to the rest of the episode. We're at the point where writers are including lesbian kisses and then lampshading them in order to seem savvy about token lesbian kisses.I can see what you're saying, but god was the first half insufferable. I'm still like "Why?"I honestly was in shock after the Betty/Veronica kiss that I didn't know how to react to the rest of the episode. We're at the point where writers are including lesbian kisses and then lampshading them in order to seem savvy about token lesbian kisses.
I spent the rest of the episode just thinking, "Did they really do that?".I'm still like "Why?"
Even the Blossom remarks "Lol lesbian kissing."
Is this a shippers thing. Oh god, why do I know that.
Yet again, there are some more obvious inspirations for some of its aesthetics, some of which they've been more upfront about:Oh sure, a lot of the show's look is done through lighting. Well it's actually not really Twin Peaks but rather Blue Velvet which is the best fit.
The neon:
Even the car has the same colour:

(Also haven't seen Rectify so...)
