Horizon Zero Dawn | Cinematic Trailer

"one of the ideas was the safest one and could make us millions, and the other was Horizon"

The balls of this studio are big, son.
They could have simply made another killzone as well if we're honest. Gaf seems to have a massive hate boner for it Nd no it doesn't do halo or cod numbers but it still does well. So I'm glad they too the chance

What do you guys think about their comments on world size?
"we really sized the world to achieve the density of content that is necessary for a great open world experience. And I admit that we started off in a world that was too big, that would be cumbersome to [navigate] and we wound of sizing it down a little bit,but it still huge!In this world you never feel like its a small world.if anything its the opposite, its a big game, yup could spend many hours playing it".

Sounds like they have their priorities straight. The reason open world games are fun is that there are so many things to discover around every corner. Large landmasses with sparse content defeat the purpose of the open world, so I am glad they recognised this and adjusted for it.

He Replied!! Sounds Like We are in for a Dynamic Weather or Night Gameplay Reveal.
Excited!!

If they are playing for 4 hours, there's no way there is no night gameplay then! Really exciting, can't wait for monday!

Well they can't post or record full 4 hour gameplay , also he said that The footage will be spoiler free so may be they want to keep the Night gameplay locked.

You got 3 weeks to dig into nioh than switch over for a bit of that helps
True true, I can play multiple games at the same time no problem its just my budget now is super low so can only day 1 purchase one game in February so gonna have to wait till Horizon drops down in price eventually, le sigh

Eh, this isn't really Guerrilla making a tough decision to "kill the golden goose."

The best-selling, highest-rated Killzone game barely sold through 3 million copies. It's entire existence was bankrolled by Sony so that their platforms could have a Halo competitor. From a business prospective it was never really relevant and, as Halo isn't either anymore, it's continuation was unnecessary.

They're making a third-person open-world action/quasi-RPG with Horizon. Not sure how that constitutes having "balls," given that formula has been proven out by many, many AAA titles this generation and last.

First almost 3 mil is nothing to laugh at but I'll leave that alone

They're making a third person action RPG (something new to them), an open world(new to them), with quest and focusing on only single player(new to them) which means the characters, story, lore has to be amazing (something they lacked it severely) with a female protagonist (this is still sadly to this day something I'm sure turns ppl off unfortunately). Game could very well bomb when they could have just stayed with their lil 2 million seller franchise

You seem to think making a new IP is somehow simple.

Especially when its a completely new genre for the devs.

Making a new IP by itself is a huge undertaking. Going into a completely different genre with the expectation for it to be the "next big thing" on top of that certainly makes it quite risky and ballsy.

I disagree with what what you're implying.

"If the formula has been proven, it isn't risky".

Always loved GG work and I do hope for a KZ revival after Horizon. Got pre orders on the collector's from 3 different shops just to be sure. Zelda will have to wait!

They fortunately gave us high resolution promotional graphics that show us at least the unrolled part of the map in some detail:

Isn't the village Mother's Rise the place that was attacked by the corrupted machine from the gameplay demo? We should be able to point out what way Aloy took to get there for a better picture of the scope of the game world.
