Switch up on Amazon.de - 329,99€

So Americans pay ~280EUR for the same thing Europeans pay ~330EUR? I hope that isn't Nintendo's SRP, otherwise the Switch will drop like an egg. Heck, 330 is more than half the minimum wage in Southern Europe and I imagine the situation isn't much better in the East.

Taxes.

Everyone should go to Japan for their next vacation. Then buy it there for just 250 EUR.

nintendo does not give msrp for europe anymore.

If someone has a cheaper offer in Germany, please post it here. Price match on Amazon would work then. Does it have to be any retailer or has it to be online only?

Southern Europe? Outside of Greece and Portugal the next lowest minimum wage is Spains thats at like 850 eur. Italy doesnt have a minimum wage. I assume you meant western europe like Latvia Bulgaria Romania etc lol

Anyway, electronics in the US have always been cheaper and more so after exchange rates. Buying Nintendo software in another region was a pain in the past because of Region lock, now with no region lock you can buy your console from pretty much anywhere, just look for best price.

So glad I will get my Switch for 277€ from Saturn. That's 1-2 Switch for free basically.

How did you do that, if I may ask?

I saw some pre-order banners at Müller today. They go full-on with the price-bloating. 350 €. This is ridiculous.

I have one on order online but am unsure if it will process in time as I only get paid on the 28th of Feb. As a backup I have a preorder on Zelda BotW for Wii U also. Having played it on the Switch at the London preview event though, I've got my fingers crossed super tight that my Switch order doesn't get cancelled, should they try and process the payment too early. Ugh.

It was possible to order switch in January as part of the Mehrwertsteuer-Aktion. The console was 999€ but Saturn adapted the price and wrote that the discount also will be adapted. Have one on order but am also still pretty positive amazon will honor my buy for 179€^^

If they were to honour that price that would mean every single pre-order would have to be 179€. Can't see that happening.

Same thing happened to me. Contacted them and was told that it was only restricted for newer preorders.

Ooh, thank you you beautiful you! I was pretty scared that they will ruin my Spring Switch Time with some shenanigans.

I think that every single topic speaking about prices of anything (especially when comparing US prices) should mention at cat sized letters that US prices do not have taxes in them usually (or ever?).

I mean, it would save us from a lot of outrage that's based of false assumptions. That could even save lives, when people won't pop a vein in their head from outrage!

I hate my Life.

I fumbled around with the shipment settings on Amazon and they did change my delivery date to the 6th.

Already called the customer service... No light at the end of the tunnel.

Does anyone know were I can preorder a switch in Germany to get it on the 3rd?

Try it here once they open the preorders:
https://www.spielegrotte.de/index.php?kat=100097&anr=52682

They will open them once they know how much stock they get. I guess you need to closely monitor the page though.

Thank you, I will try my luck! Hopefully they will also adjust their pricing.

The Amazon customer service also gave me a tip: Never play with or change your shipping settings. Good for the they have this options, without it the customer service would have no work at all.

At least the Neon red/blue model seems to be back up for preorder for 329€ on Amazon.de.

Just preordered mine there since Amazon.fr doesn't seem to ship to Germany anymore and I am expecting the price to drop to 299€ in the next weeks, otherwise I'll most likely cancel it.

Guess there are just a few consoles remaining from cancelled preorders...?

I have 2 pre-ordered, but might only keep one.

Do you happen to live in NRW?

Saturn.de?

Saturn.de?
You're always saying Saturn.de, despite the online store being out of stock for weeks. Only thing you can do there is to order a Switch at your local Saturn through the website, but at least in my area none of the local Saturns are actually still accepting pre-orders. ¯_(ツ)_/¯

Oh, didn't know it's only for local markets.

You have to ask them, they won't honor it automatically. Since I have screenhsots of my account with that amount and their word I still believe. And if not I will take my Saturn preorder^^

they won't.

See above. They have every right to not do it but they said so.

I have screenshots too, but I won't believe for a single second that it will actually happen. All people got were random non-definitive "promises" by probably outsourced, non-native speaking support peeps who had no idea what they were actually talking about. No order (except for one that i know of) was actually effectively changed within their account to a new pricing.

We'll see I guess.

Tell me about it. I have a bunch of screenshots, chat logs, emails archived. After they corrected the price they told me it was mistake and they wouldn't honour it. Don't get me wrong, I'm still hoping too. But if they were to give one person the price of 180 they would have to give every person that same price. Would be interesting to see if there were any chances at court (Amazon is a professional seller after all and they did say in emails that the price was not a mistake at one point) but I doubt it. The financial harm would be too big.

Something weird going on with shipping from amazon.de, I looked at a Switch preorder earlier this week and it said it couldn't be delivered to Finland, now it can again. They have the red/blue one in stock, I'm tempted..

Sorry for hijacking the DE thread again but I remember people were discussing their French preorders here.

Fnac one upped itself and has a new Valentine promo code going that gives you back 10€ on your card for every 60€ (up to 60€ back). That means you can buy a Switch + Zelda for 350€ with 50€ back afterwards.
Or to put it differently, at their current rate, that's a Switch, Zelda and MK8 for 360€ if you use the 50€ in store credit afterwards. MK8 is currently 60€ but it might eventually be price matched to amazon's 50€.

The (very classy) code is "BISOUS".

I swear at this rate I'll feel ripped off when I don't get the 179€ deal lol

Thanks! It's 40 euros by the way since Zelda is already down to €51.

We soon will now, but what I can't understand is how they don't seem to have a clear workflow for this situation: They adapted the price of a colleague of mine to 270 Euros, according to him it is in his account and not just an E-Mail that confirms it. Guess he has to show me his account so I can really believe it :-D

Yeah, it's pretty obvious they aren't prepared for this kind of thing.

I think your colleague hit the jackpot by contacting an outsourced service person. That person didn't know what to do so they offered your colleague a better price and adjusted it. If your colleague is OK with it you should contact Amazon and give them your colleague's order ID. I'd love to know if they would lower your order as well or not.

Is there a maximal value for this promo? So, if I bought 2 Switch, would I get 90€ on my card?
Also, do the 30 days on the fnac card start as soon as I preorder or only once the payment is done?

Amazon.es has the Switch in stock for 319 Euro and they ship internationally now.

Amazon.de and Amazon.co.jp got them back in stock for a short window last week and they allowed international shipping! Comparing my preorders from 6 different countries, Amazon.co.jp is by far the cheapest. It's $100 cheaper than from Amazon.es with prepaid import fees, and as much as $256 cheaper than if I had bought it from Amazon.com using a freight forwarder, yikes! So happy that I caught it when it went back up on Amazon Japan and seemingly someone on staff messed up by allowing international shipping (and no limits on number of orders too). I'm totally cancelling my Amazon.fr and Fnac orders in light of my Amazon.jp heist :P

50€ on your card is the max you'll get. Also the 30 days start immediately when you confirm your order, and you will get the 50€ only after your order ships.

Funnily enough 40k Yen are almost exactly 330 Euros, the retail price in Germany.

Too bad they upped the price. Or it's for the better. Otherwise I would have added yet another pre-order. :)

Shipping from japan may also mean that you have to pay Customs if they intercept your parcel

Yeah, I don't think it would be worth it for me anyway.

Amazon charges you a customs fee at checkout, and you don't pay anymore even if your local authorities charge more than what Amazon estimated (which is often the case, I've done this many times before, never had to pay more, even when they mistakenly don't charge me any import fees at checkout and my local customs do), and if the actual customs charge is less Amazon refunds you the difference.

AmazonGlobal offers customers customs duties, taxes and fees ("Import Fees") estimation during checkout and customs clearance on your behalf for certain eligible countries.

Calculating Fees
When AmazonGlobal products are shipped to eligible countries, an estimate of the Import Fees will be levied on the items in your order for shipment to countries outside of the U.S. With your authorization, these funds are used by the carrier or another agent to pay the Import Fees on your behalf (or the recipient's behalf) to the appropriate authorities of the destination country ("Import Fees Deposit"). The payment of import fees is the responsibility of the importer and is levied based on the laws of the country into which the products are being shipped.

Import Fees Deposits will vary depending on the selected shipping method. The Import Fees Deposit is an estimation of the taxes and duties that may apply and isn't an actual calculation. Customs regulations and tax rates applicable to certain goods may change between the date the taxes and duties were estimated and the applicable taxes and duties on the date of import into the destination country. The duty or tax rate is often determined by the classification of a good, which varies by country and region.

Duties and taxes are calculated based on the market value (actual price before any promotions) of the product and not the price after Amazon promotions. This allows destination country customs authorities to obtain the accurate import duties and taxes owed to them based on the actual value of the goods.

For AmazonGlobal items, you won't be charged additional fees if the actual Import Fees exceed the Import Fees Deposit we estimated.
For items sold by Amazon Marketplace sellers, please check the seller's policies.

If the actual Import Fees are less than the Import Fees Deposit collected by us on your behalf, you'll automatically be refunded the difference to the payment method you used for the order. You'll receive a notification e-mail confirming the amount of the refund. The process takes 60 days from the shipment date.

The above is from Amazon.com but it's exactly the same for all Amazon sites.

Yes it's probably not be worth it for you if the Switch is officially released in your country/region, but in my case (I'm in the Middle East) I have to import it from somewhere, and I compared between Amazon US, UK, France, Germany, Spain, Italy, and Japan... And Amazon Japan is $100 cheaper for me than getting it from Amazon Germany or Spain (all with AmazonGlobal shipping). And Amazon Japan charged me a MUCH lower fee than what I typically get charged for a product of this value when I use a freight forwarder. I'm literally saving more than $160 now compared to my previous best option (which was Amazon.fr or Fnac, but now my second best option is Amazon.de and Amazon.es with AmazonGlobal, still $100 more than Amazon.co.jp)

Amazon.de still has both colours available (with international shipping). I would order from there, but I've scheduled the following week as vacation and it would suck not being able to play Zelda if the delivery to Finland takes long.

It's strange how all these different Amazon sites didn't allow international shipping but now are allowing it (I know .de allowed it at the very first but then quickly disabled it, and now they're allowing it again)... I wonder what's the reason, many cancelled preorders/not enough local demand? Global policy change? Or employee oversight.
