New NieR:Automata trailer

I went from a "yeah this game looks cool, I'll check it out some day" to a "day 1, I need this now" after I played the demo last week.

So. Good.

With Nier, Nioh, and Yakuza what is up with some Japanese developers and not giving 2 craps about graphical prowess? Not a bad thing honestly because the gameplay in all three games is great and that is the priority, but compare that to western developers who would be frothing in the mouth at putting out such visuals - albeit at the expense of gameplay at times.

I dunno about the other two, but Nier focusing on that 60fps, sacrifices have to be made. Has a PC version if it matters that much to you.

It doesn't. just pointing out the difference in mentality. Lol at God of War or Uncharted ever being 60 FPS.

I'd rather have a great game over great visuals. Those games you mentioned obviously have lower budgets than Western blockbusters. Game like Gravity Rush 2, Resident Evil 7 and Final Fantasy XV show what Japanese developers can do with a proper budget. Hell even The Last Guardian looks amazing in parts despite being have deep roots in last gen.

Mostly budget constraints I reckon. All of the listed titles are relatively niche compared to the standard western AAA title.

I would also take a cheaper looking, but more creative and risky project such as Nier. Having so many Japanese games and franchises being resurrected this year is a blessing.

The three games you listed are some of the most budget games coming out lately. There are plenty of good looking japanese games.

Their graphic tech is pretty bad

Most of good looking Japanese games are from first party nowadays though, compare Gravity Rush 2, Zelda with Tales off Berseria, the tech gap is really big

Tales is also a budget series. FFXV, KH 0.2, RE7, Street Fighter V, Tekken 7, Guilty Gear Xrd, MGSV, list goes on of good looking Japanese games. There is no gap when comparing AAA.

Contemplating whether I should just grab some Japanese PSN credit off ebay and buy it from there. The official 10th March release is too far away :(

Have to say i wasn't that impressed with the trailer. I know the back drop is post apocalyptic. But it seems a bit bland. Having said that, I played the demo and really enjoyed it. And I love PlatinumGames. So I'll still give it a shot.

Bro, your head is gonna be spinning if Yoko Taro is on his A-game for Automata

DOD1,2, and the original Nier. But thanks for the video anyway.

The trailer just reminded me of how fucked Taro can get sometimes. I'm excited.

Hah, ok, just making sure. I'm relatively new to it myself and this made me realize just how twisted shit can get. I mean god damn.

The real question is, why don't other trailers on YouTube have comments disabled?

I just find it odd how the English trailer and channel doesn't disable comments while the Japan one does. Same with Namco Bandai and other companies. The top comments from the English trailer seem pretty civil.

This game looks very very cool and I hope I can play it without having to ban GhostTrick for six months! :(
