You guys think this is going to put a bow on the whole storyline starting from DoD1?
The long hair looked good on the artwork but terrible in the actual game graphics so I am happy to see her with shorter hair.
I'm guessing it gets cut before you start playing as her so they don't have to animate it in combat lol.

This brings back awful memories of a boss in the first Nier who would stomp out energy waves like those that had such big hurtboxes that you'd double jump over them and sometimes still get hit even after they'd gone past. Thank goodness Platinum is handling this game
I have the theory that Nier: Automata is basically gonna be the end of the franchise, by involving
time travel
The entire story of Drakengards universe started with "the old world" suddenly appearing in Drakengards world. Said city supposedly holds the truth of all world behind a giant door, introduces magic to drakengads world and is guarded by a guy in a futuristic armor and accord, an android on the mission to search for "the solution" to an unknown "problem".
This is what we factually know. Then everything in the games happens and now we're at Nier: Automata, a game taking place far in the future, with weapons built based on Drakengard's magic, and a character having very openly connections to the cult of the watchers.
I expect something happening in the ending that results in a bunch of their technology and something about the watchers being brought into Drakengard's world in the form of "the old world", ultimately being the cause as to why everything happens in Drakengard and Nier in the first place.
Basically an infinite timeloop of suffering. That is also evidenced by Yoko Taro once jokingly explaining that the reason there are two different Nier's is the world looping iover and over with slight variations each time. While that was ofc only meant as a joke, so was the alien invasion, and now this alien joke is getting a full game.

Her having the same style would probably indicate that 2B dies fairly early, too, and I'm a little tired of bait-and-switch protagonists as of late.

Yea but I think Yoko did say there will be some unique elements for other characters so I guess it won't be 100%. But they would probably share same movesets/skills.

I hate this. What's the point in getting attached a protagonist if they're just going to fucking die two hours in? It's bad writing no matter how deftly it's done.

Yeah, I wasn't too hot on this trailer either. Still my most anticipated game left for this year though, even above Zelda and Persona 5.
Kinda wanted Taro to break the Heavy-spoiler trailers cycle SE has been doing for ages .

That demo was just awesome. On the Pro it felt like a clear departure from the tech of the start of this gen. Really cant wait to play the full game.

Anyone else think this could be a 90+ metacritic? The demo was outstanding and everything about their trailers feel very interesting and fresh.

Gameplay is going to be one of the best ever in an ARPG, but the story side of things might let it down. Not expecting much from quests either as they should be the usual fetchathon. I'm expecting around 80. Be happy for anything more.

What other games have done the bait and switch protag recently?
Also judging by this trailer i think the real bait and switch is that:
2B and A2 are the same character.
Right after 2B "dies" we see that there's a fairly large time skip. Plus the 2 characters are identical right down to the mole. Have the same fighting style, and A2's clothes look like 2B's tattered clothes. Only difference is the voice acting I believe and that can be explained by a number of different ways. Also iirc we never see 2B or A2 at the same time in any of the trailers.

Ah true. Could be diff. Characters but same model? Or same character diff. Body as 2B's body looks motionless in that screen.

A2 is an early prototype, so it is possible the future models like 2B were made in its likeness.
