Sony Playstation: First Party Studios & their Current Projects

So far Sony seems to have given into Kojima's every demand. At some point someone from production side of Sony will have to tell Kohima that he can't do something he wants to do due to budget.

The idea Kojima's just using and abusing Sony's money is hilarious. Kojima and the people at WWS overseeing the project have made a lot of games before, I'm pretty sure they know what they're doing.

Malicious Fallen confused the hell out of me. In NA, you can read "MALICIOUS is a trademark of ALVION Inc."
In Europe, they say "Malicious is a trademark or a registered trademark of Sony Interactive Entertainment Europe."

Sounded like Malicious Fallen is a Sony IP. But ALVION Inc. owns it actually.

The simplest explanation is it's a Japanese indie game that Sony are localising and publishing and they agreed to like SIEE handle the trademarks in all their territories.

I'm confident that at least one of Days Gone, God of War, and Detroit will come out this year. Hard to say which at this point, but it seems like they're comparably far along in development and it's hard to imagine Sony releasing all three in early 2018.

Missed the QD stuff on the last page. Wonder if they mean last take for her or just last take in general

Detroit, GOW, Days Gone. That's the order of likelihood IMO. Detroit simply because it was revealed first, GOW because it's a big enough game to survive the fall and we know it's been fully playable for about 2 months now. Days Gone I just don't see. New IP with franchise potential. Detroit is a new IP also but doesn't have franchise potential (QD does a new IP each time)

I could see all 3 early 2018 also. And with the next From exclusive possibly landing in that timeframe also it would be insane

Sony line up is just amazing! God of War this year would be insane!

Curious to know if that rumored JRPG is actually in development or not.

I think they have one in development, but it won't be the "Final Fantasy Killer" that's been rumoured; a small collaboration with Tri-Ace or Media Vision sounds more likely.

Still no sign of the Resogun Pro patch?

I'm starting to think/hope housemarque are going to add a little something extra than a simple resolution boost.

I wouldn't be surprised if EPOS are making something else in addition to their contributions to WipEout Omega Collection.

Ovosonico's also been quiet for a long time.

Was just thinking about how cool it would be for sucker punch to be making a star wars game...but alas...wishfull thinking only!

Going with Firesprite Games and Ovosonico.

GoW finished shooting ways back as well. Wondering if it comes out later this year.
I was just thinking about this as well. Back in December, it was said that GoW was close to finishing shooting. A few weeks later, Cory confirmed that the game was fully playable from beginning to the end. I definitely think GoW is further along than Days Gone and Spider-Man. Crazy thought, maybe, but perhaps Detroit as well.

I'm still expecting a mid September to mid October release date for God Of War. Since the latest rumors apparently put Destiny 2 in November, there will be little competition then.

I'd love to have GoW that early, but I don't see it happening. And it's not just Destiny...but CoD, Battlefront, and Red Dead. Those will be the biggest games this fall and all 4 have PlayStation marketing.

Sony will (wisely) not put any of their big guns anywhere near them.

CoD is as good as confirmed to be an early November release, just as the other games in the past few years. I think Dice will try to keep Battlefront 2 as late as possible until the hype for the movie reaches a peak. The movie is out in mid December, so mid November release for Battlefront 2 is apt. Red Dead 3, I have no idea. I could actually see this as a late October release. Rockstar has nothing to worry about, though. Other developers should fear their release schedules instead. So, GoW releasing in mid September to mid October would be great. Far enough (2-4 weeks) from those big hitters to not have its sales eaten.

I predict Detroit: Become Human in September 2017, God of War in March 2018, Days Gone in May 2018, Spiderman in September 2018, The Last of Us Part II in March 2019, and Death Stranding in September 2019.

Hmmmm....instead of ANNOUNCING all of these games, how about FINISHING and RELEASING them??? Then, you can announce some new upcoming games.

What the hell do you think they've been doing? They released a ton of games last year, have already released Gravity Rush 2 this year and have Horizon, MLB The Show 17 and Drawn to Death coming in the next couple months.

God of War releasing this fall could be a nice surprise, BUT given how almost all the previous GOW games released in March, this one seems just perfect for a March 2018 release.

I'm guessing we might end up getting another slim Fall of 1st party games. Probably GT Sport and Knack 2 will be enough for Sony.

My gut says Detroit and knack 2.
My mind says gt sport (a laughable full year delay) and knack 2

As I've said countless times over but most people in this thread don't seem to grasp, GoW will not be a March title because "LOL, series tradition". There is no reason to hold onto a game when it's done, except to avoid sales being eaten by bigger games. But my post earlier pointed out that mid September to mid October looks ideal. You believe it will hit 2018, fine, but give a suitable reason for it. If we use the same goddamn senseless logic, Uncharted 4 should have been a holiday 2016 title because the others were all Fall games.

To clarify, I'm not saying for sure that GoW will be a 2017 game, it could very well be delayed to 2018, but the reason won't be to keep up with series tradition. It could be to release in a quiet period to maximize sales or development is behind schedule. The latter seems a bit unlikely if shooting has wrapped up and the game has been fully playable for over a month and a half.

Series tradition is a perfectly fine reason when they've specifically hit that month with five different games over 8 years. At some point you have to realise there's a pattern and it's a far cry from three Uncharted's coming out in a vague "holiday period."

Besides, Uncharted 4 WAS meant to be a holiday 2015 game, it was delayed because they needed more time (something they didn't do with Uncharted 3, which was rushed out to make the holidays and really hurt it).

And how can GoW be delayed to 2018 when it hasn't been announced for 2017?

Apologies, "delayed" is being used liberally here.

Anyway, I'll reiterate what I said about Uncharted 4. The game was good for release for May 2016, yes, which is why it was released then. If we follow the "series tradition" logic, ND would have held onto the game until Fall 2016. My point is, why hold onto the game when it's done?

Again, GoW was fully playable since December 2016. If we use another example, FFXV was in a similar state back in December 2015 and came out in November 2016. However, that is an open world game being released for two platforms. In addition, the Luminous engine is notorious for causing issues. Also, the leak which spoiled the ending months in advance mentioned that the fully playable builds were only on high end PC's. Okay, so I made that comparison as a guesstimate of how long it takes for a game to be released after it's fully playable.

If we presume a similar time frame, GoW is good for a November release too. However, it's suffering none of the issues FFXV did, so September to October is indeed possible. Yes, I know different devs have different workloads and schedules, but it's a good indication of how long development takes IMO. So, if the game is done then and the Fall hitters have yet to hit, wouldn't that be an ideal time to release it? Unless you think the game needs more time in the oven, which is a valid reason and much better than "series tradition!". So why don't people use that point instead?
