Honestly doesnt sound like a big deal. Still I hope they add or the game includes the story of Zelda for the years she was on her own.

So even Zelda is not safe from this Season Pack sh*t anymore ? That's sad.

(I know Mario Kart 8 also had DLCs. But they doubled the game content, and were announced once the main game was out...)
They announced Mewtwo as Smash 4 DLC ahead of the Wii U version's release.

When they say "new story", they don't mean playing the main game with a totally different scenario/story, right? It would be an additional story to the main game's story?

poor content for the money. 1 dungeon??

My guess is that the challenge mode is some kind of procedurally generated rogue-like mode but in Zelda form. So it could be a pretty neat.

As to the nature of the overall season pass: A cynical mind would say that they had to rush the game out and the extra content had to be cut from the game, but Breath of the Wild was probably done since last Summer and most of the team was still able to work on more content.

I can support this, especially the new dungeon part. But end of the year is a bummer...

I wouldn't mind if Nintendo kept releasing new dungeons into 2018 as well. This game will have a close to 1:1 attach rate on the Switch so they might as well milk it with DLC. I'm not even angry.

so... no mode hidden behind an Amiibo this time?

So many negative comments... Heaven forbid Nintendo creates *additional content* to such a massive game, after they've shipped the game. And then offers it to be people who want to buy it, if they want it.

Hyrule Warriors and Mario Kart 8 DLC were well worth the cost, so if this continues the trend, I'm totally in.

Guys what's the difference about announcing DLC before and after the launch? The content won't launch until few months after launch anyways.

I did after editing my message. I remembered right after posting the first message.

And the thing with DLC is that it will never be a closed topic. You can't say "it's good" or "it's bad". I personaly want everything in a game directly, if it's not in the game, it has nothing to do in it later. But that's only because I don't associate DLC with some types of games. I wouldn't by 5 extra pages to a book so I know more about the story (for example).

I prefer a full new other game. But I kinda understand why people are happy.
It's just that it doesn't make me feel the same. On the contrary it's making me disappointed.
If there were this type of DLC announced for Xenoblade 2, it would be even worse I guess. (Japanese DLC for X were already hard to swallow)

Books and video games are completely different lol. I don't mind DLC at all.

Guess this means I should wait for the Switch Pro.
Why wouldn't you? lol did you think you "got me" with that comment? They've done upgrades for the longest with handhelds.

This makes me really really happy. I'll be long done with the game by the time Xmas rolls around and having a new dungeon and a new storyline makes it almost like a new game or at the very least will get me to come back to it. And it's a great way to lure people that skipped the game the first time around.

Anytime we get more Zelda is nothing but a good thing. Too bad the trolls in the thread showed up in full force to shitpost.

The Switch keeps getting pricier.

Maybe I should just stick to the cheaper Wii U version for now and buy the Switch GOTY version next year for cheap, maybe during some drought.
Unless this fabled GOTY version, is under $20 will will have spent more money in the game. Also, don't feel obligated to buy dlc because you own the game. You don't have to prepurchase it,you'll still get everything upon purchase when you do. So there's no real incentive unless you feel you need the prepurchase bonus content day one, which you probably don't.

This may be semantics, but do you think that this new hard mode may be just that, which is separate from hero mode?

Sounds kind of expensive.

If the Cave of Trials is anything like the one in TP HD it's going to be really boring. A hard mode is interesting, but with Hero Mode being a staple of the series for quite some time now, I find it kinda hard to justify paying extra for that.

A new dungeon/story on the other hand is really interesting, but that's pretty much the only thing in this Expansion Pass that I care about. 20€ for that alone is a bit much.

... And since they aren't offering any of this individually, I'm going out and say that they are perfectly aware of the dungeon pack being the only really interesting part of this. But if you want that, you are forced to buy the rest as well.

Kind of a shame that I'll be too weak to resist the temptation of an additional dungeon.

People have this weird perception that this is content they would otherwise have in the base game if the concept of DLC didn't exist, which is ludicrous to say the least. No grasp in the concept of project budgeting.

So are we pretending Nintendo hasn't done DLC for the entire last generation now?

"The last bastion has fallen"
lmao, if anything it fell six years ago with the release of New Super Mario Bros. 2 on 3DS.

Everyone calling nintendo out for "getting with the times", were have you been?

season passes and dlc is nothing new for nintendo. You guys are one full gen behind lmao.

I'm confused as to why people are angry. I HIGHLY doubt that they are releasing an incomplete game for the sake of making an extra buck. If we learn more and it's not appealing to you, then don't buy. If you want it then do buy.

So far I have not felt bamboozled by Nintendo DLC. I personally at don't think this will change.

exactly. it's like the add-ons of old.

The first content pack will include the addition of a Cave of Trials challenge, a new hard mode and a new feature for the in-game map.
Meh? Cave of Trials is a thing you'll spend at most an hour with, and I'm being generous there. Hard mode... Well it's not something I'm personally very interested in. That's just the thing where you take twice as much damage, right? A new 'feature for the in-game map' is quite vague. What does that mean? A new area to explore? All in all, the first expansion seems really underwhelming.

The second content pack will launch in Holiday 2017, and adds new challenges that will let players enjoy a new dungeon and a new original story.
Okay, that's a bit more like it. Guess I'll just get this on its own the-

Content packs cannot be purchased individually.
Oh, yeah, sure Nintendo.

Not too excited about these. The amount and kind of content don't look that good and I actually find it quite expensive too. Would expect €15 tops for what they're offering here. I'm a sucker for Zelda so I'll probably get it anyway but... kinda disappointed. Hopefully that added story thing is good enough to justify the price.

Well, it makes sense. They built one of the biggest open worlds in gaming and most of the people will probably finish the game without seeing most of Hyrule. The DLCs price and content seem fine, the most interesting is definetely the second one. They'll probably reveal it at E3.

This is terrible news and makes me want to hold off buying the game at launch until we know more. The fact that there'll be a Zelda where the whole experience isn't on the base cart is sad, the fact that difficulty is locked behind a paywall is sad, and the value doesn't seem to be there at all. Modern Nintendo becomes less and less special as the years go by...

Witcher 3 levels of new content and I'll be back on board, though. Just wish they'd left this shit until a month or two after launch.

They weren't selling hard mode separately until now. The closest thing to this would be TP but that had hero mode included.

Good, I'm glad they're actually adding content using this world as a base. Maybe we'll get a Majora's Mask style sequel next year too.

Oh, look. Announcing DLCs before release. Nintendo got with the times. So cute. Mostly up to date with the bad habits of the industry (pay for online, save content for DLCs), but still cute.

Eh, at least it's announced after the game went gold. That's slightly more palatable.

Just like you can expect shitty content. That's the problem with season passes and roadmap. I'd like to see some screenshots and a video of the content.

Pro-tip: don't buy a season pass when you feel you don't have enough information yet. This will still be purchasable way after the DLC is actually out, so just sit back and wait.

Guess you already played and finished the dungeon ?
Come one... if you say it this way it doesn't work.
Think about it and compare it to the whole game's price.

People are not saying they played it or not, just that, a dungeon even with some story around seems really "small" compared to the game itself which is what... 3 times the price of the DLC, which is not a lot.

Of course we have to wait for details, but why would they announce it now, especially the price, if it's to not give details so we know what we'd pay for.

It's hard to say without knowing exactly how much content is actually in it but nothing about what they said makes me feel confident in this. It's kind of vague and announcing more story content before the game is even out feels kind of gross to me. It gives the impression that people with just the base game are missing out. With the exception of Mario Kart 8 I also think Nintendo has been pretty bad with DLC, usually pricing it too high.

If this were the Dark Souls dev or CD Projekt Red doing this then people wouldn't give a shit, however because it's Nintendo/not Sony there's a lot of salt.

Knowing Nintendo there's no way that this isn't going to be worth it.

If anything, only Pokemon doesn't have DLC now, and even then fans are angry with GF becuase they didn't offer Battle Frontier/Tower as DLC in ORAS after that tease.
