Trump is a dickwad and deserves scorn and worse, but it is clear to me now that the true power of the executive branch does not rest in the presidency, but rather in the agencies like the FBI, CIA, and NSA. The institutions of our democracy are stronger than any one person or group. This is both a good and bad thing, but it may yet save the Republic.

I can't imagine a prosecutor asking for Capital Punishment if such a case were to go to trial, nor do we use hanging as an execution method, but execution is certainly a punishment that can be asked for in treason cases.
