Obama sat on this because the GOP would spin this as him trying to mess with the election. Which would energize the GOP base even more and allow them to have an excuse if they lost.

You might actually gain them by arguing back at the tv as I'm wont to do. Of course this is usually after a glass of whiskey so that's where the brain cell loss comes into play.
This doesn't personally implicate Trump yet, but it's definitely paints a picture when seemingly most of his inner circle is in contact with Russia.
I feel like there needs to be something that definitively links Trump to this for it to bring him down. Even after several of his administration were facing charges, Nixon didn't resign until a tape came out that had him talking about covering it up.

Bannon may have appeared in the limelight late in the game. However, he was pulling the strings all along. He created and funded Trump's top Super PAC. This Super Pac just so happened to employ many people who ended up running the Trump Campaign including Kelly Anne Conway. Steve Bannon also assisted with creating the book Clinton Cash which ended up being used as evidence by the FBI to launch another Clinton's investigation. Bannon bought and paid for this election. He's now getting everything he has wanted.
