I really love your gifs. Best kind of smug.

BUT: Did you see the h3h3 video?
Want to know what you think about it

Call me when we're hanging Let's Players from trees.

What is this?

Ruining someone's successful career, and forever labeling them a racist could ruin their life. I don't know why you don't see the severity of that. Unless you're saying it has to be as bad as hanging someone.

He made a shitty racist joke and got what was coming to him. Context doesn't negate any of that and isn't some panacea for saying something shitty.
This is fake too? I've been fooled I guess.

OH NO I FORGOT ABOUT THE CONTEXT
As has been explained countless times, he wanted to see what people would do for $5. Clearly they'd do a lot more than he thought.

Your point is still bullshit. FOH with this "you're only offended because you're jealous" nonsense.
I don't think I was talking about the people who are "offended". I'm talking about the people happy about his misfortunes, like, I dunno, the first post in the thread which just says "lol".

And the people who were offended took it out of context, based on what clickbait fake news articles said about it.

Ok, err, dude, I'm pretty sure this isn't what you meant, but right now you're saying that the people Trump are going to hurt, deserve it.

Because, like, they're still Americans. Nobody 'deserves' to have their rights trampled on and persecuted because of the actions of a separate group of racist fuckwits.

I get you're angry at the situation but you really shouldn't blame the people who are going to suffer.

The people who will suffer don't look, talk, or act like that poster. Why the fuck would he care?

Hey guys, the context was he wanted to choose the most violent and abhorrent thing to say for his bad satire.

It shows he clearly understands the impact of those words but still chose to do it regardless.

Pewdiepie fucked up, was careless, thoughtless, inconsiderate, failed to think beyond himself, and his actions unintentionally aided the Nazis he attempted to leverage for comedic purposes. Consequently he suffered negative consequences.
Actual Nazi said:
"He could be doing all this only to cause a stir things up and get free publicity," wrote the Daily Stormer. "Ultimately, it doesn't matter, since the effect is the same; it normalizes Nazism, and marginalizes our enemies.

I don't really see a whole lot of nuance to this. What else is there to this story?

As far as one can tell based on what's publicly known, Pewdiepie is not actually antisemitic, racist or whatever. But since he has been actually bolstering those views, I can't have too much sympathy for him over people interpreting it that way. Still, I hope people take a step back and try to engage his fuckup in a more constructive manner, and that Pewdiepie understands why people would be harsh about this shit, takes this opportunity to reflect and improve himself.

I don't believe Felix is racist at all but there is no doubt he did this for clicks and $ and it's backfired.

It's a shame, as I respected how he has found success. He will bounce back and all will be forgotten soon enough.

GAF is not a hive mind and very few people are saying the bolded.

Exactly.

Nobody is outright calling him an anti-semite or a nazi, or those that are, are in the minority.

What they're are agreeing with however is that Disney, YT made a decision based on his actions that cost him his sponsors.

When you start defending his stupidity that caused him to get dropped as being harmless...it really doesn't matter since the decision wasnt on any of us to make.

He did something asinine and got punished for it.

Guys, guys, it was all just a joke. Thats the context. We can use fiver to spread hate speech and its all good cuz its a joke and fiver is dumb.

As has been explained countless times, he wanted to see what people would do for $5. Clearly they'd do a lot more than he thought.

We know the context and it doesn't make a lick of difference. The joke wasn't funny with context or without and context doesn't magically get him off for saying something ugly.

Dunno how you think he did it for more views. He gets his views regardless of what the video's about.

just like on top gear!

Saddest revelation here is the fact that people will do anything for money this was a good study into capitalism.

PDP really is an example of his own "experiment" that he would happily publish something that edgy for clicks. im suprised at his suprise at what people would do for money.

Oh really?

Finished the h3h3 video.

All of you guys got swindled by fake news, largely because of your innate hatred toward people better off than you. Ashamed of GAF right now.

Ah yes, I clearly see where you differentiate there. Clear as day.

And the people who were offended took it out of context, based on what clickbait fake news articles said about it.

Damn, you're right. Clearly the context was the missing piece. Armed with this new context I can now se-

Nah.

Most GAFers wouldn't have done hate speech for $5. Thats what I learned from this thread. Well, some of PewDiePie's subjects from his social experiment did. And there's something to be learned from that as well. I don't fault him at all for what he did and I think Disney and all these other companies who have severed ties with him are overreacting

Just because the nazis claim it helped them, doesn't mean it actually helped them. If it did help them, it helped them because they got media exposure, media that misreported the situation for clicks and controversy.

Maybe 10 years ago Nazi jokes were funny and "edgy". But right now there are actual Nazis and racists out -- it isn't funny anymore. At least it doesn't have the "oh so absurd and out of left field" quality that makes some comedy funny. "It's just a prank bro" doesn't work anymore.

There are literally anarchist communists rioting in the streets, attacking people and damaging property. Based on ideology and using tactics taught to them by their college professors. On the flipside, where are all these Nazis of which you speak?

You're the one who said Internet outrage is comparable in its harm to racism. My point is you downplay how widespread racism is in comparison to life-ruining incidents of Internet outrage (hint: most of the world still doesn't have Internet access), how long racism has been a concept, and the extent to which racism can lead to harm (as far as I know, no one has been killed after making a social media post that outraged the Internet.)

You do a grave disservice to the severity of both issues to compare them in this sloppy a manner, especially in a topic concerning a straight white male billionaire who is the most subscribed channel on the most watched online video channel of all time.

As has been explained countless times, he wanted to see what people would do for $5. Clearly they'd do a lot more than he thought.
Right, people keep saying this, but the joke doesn't make sense. He's shocked people will spread hateful language for money, be he is also doing that at the same time for the same reason.

Yes that is what I said good job, also not a hive mind yet it seems so one sided so far.

If the other side had an actual, solid point, we would have something. So far, you and others have offered little else but normalizing the very behavior that got Felix benched and constant finger-wagging. Try something new, already.

LOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOL

Fucking what?????????

Got proof of this or are you pulling it out of your ass?

Oh wow, what happened to this thread? This is barely a discussion anymore.

I said in certain situations.

Overall, yes. Racism, in general, blows internet outage out of the water.

GAF is not a hive mind and very few people are saying the bolded.

Some have, but why the giant thread if people don't think he's an anti-semite?

He made some off-color jokes, some of them were kinda funny, some of them tipped over the line of good taste for sure... the media ran a click-bait article taking it all out of context and then huge outrage and internet threads abound.

The question is, if you think he's not racist, if you think he's not an anti-semite... then why the outrage?

I'm a long time liberal, and I'll always be, but dammit if this kind of stuff isn't off-putting to a lot of people out there. There's just so many people out there waiting to tear people down every time they fuck up. It's hard to pull people back to our side when we keep doing this over and over.

You just said you don't think other Jewish people should be offended by it. Maybe you worded it wrong.

I wouldn't be offended by it (like the guy in the video) and so I think people shouldn't take such silly jokes to their hearts, my opinion, not any bad intention, i am not telling anyone he is not allowed to be offended. That would be hard job anyway ;)

Oh wow, what happened to this thread? This is barely a discussion anymore.
When was it a discussion? Thread's about PewDiePie getting punished for something he did. Obviously the only way to talk about it is to argue for or against him.

This isn't a Splatoon 2 thread where we calmly discuss whether or not it's a sequel.

I didn't know we had Breitbart staff here on GAF. Anyone wanna take bets on which gets thrown out first, snowflake or cuck?

are you serious?! there isn't some college professor conspiracy to reducee the U.S of A to an anarchist society.
