Switch up on Amazon.de - 329,99€

No choice, since they were caught price fixing and sentenced.
Their fault really.

No, that's completely unrelated. Retailers in Europe can set RRPs.

In the end it doesn't make a difference. Take the price on the Nintendo Online Store as your RRP. Different retailers set different prices, that's how our economic system works when there is competition.

Well, my point was, if nobody takes any action, there is no reason to not cancel those preorders a few days before they ship. The price won't drop.

I don't think they send emails on price mistakes, no. They will just charge your card with the "real" lowest prices when it ships. Did you chat with a rep about that price ?
I'm keeping them until the last moment. And I've chatted with them multiple times. I have all the chat logs, emails etc. Still don't believe they'll honour the price mistake though. Maybe I should chat with them again.

Yeah, but Nintendo isn't allowed to set an msrp anymore. At least in the EU
Not sure that they aren't allowed to do that anymore. Maybe it's just a Japanese honour business thing. In the end, it doesn't matter really.

Is anyone still legit hoping to get a discount because of that pricing error back then? I'm starting to wonder if Amazon is really the best choice here.

So...

1-2 Switch is 49,99€

Mario Kart 8 Deluxe is 59,99€

Breath of the Wild Switch is 64,99€

Breath of the Wild WiiU is 69,99€

???

Wildly divergent first party pricing, seems weird.

In France it's quite different. 1-2 Switch and MK8 Deluxe are 50€. Zelda Switch is 52€.

And I just surrendered and ordered 1-2 Switch along with Neon console and Zelda :( I hope it's fun multiplayer game for the family.

I got a French and German Amazon preorder. Problem is, my French order won't arrive before March 8-10th, so I think I'll bite the bullet and pay 40€ extra to get the console day ome. Ugh.

I have a little bit of hope left that I can get something out of it. Not the full price but probably something little like a month of Amazon Prime.

Amazon.de prices drive me crazy. Right now Zelda and Console would cost me 395 Euro, but I got the same order at Amazon.fr for 350 Euro. 45 Euro difference, really a pain in the ass. I hope Amazon and Saturn/MM are fighting for the best price close for release.

I also have this stupid 180 Euro Amazon.de voucher, which is very difficult for me to get rid of, because I barely buy something on Amazon. So I kind of feel forced to buy there anyway and have it on release day.

I am a Amazon Costumer since 2000. So I hope they don´t fuck the price up in Germany.
I chatted with them, when the price was 180€ for the switch, and they said I´ll get it, and send me an "bestätigungs-email" since then nobody wrote to me that I don´t get it for that price. I mean I am not stupid I won´t get it, but because they emailed me that I get the switch for 180 I pretend that I am really pissed because I would have ordered it from France than and that I am a customer since the beginning, blah blah. So I hope in the end they match the price of 300€ in France and that I´ll get an 15Euro Voucher for Zelda and I am happy - but also pissed :-)

What are you saying? that you're entitled to get the switch for 50% off because you've been a long time customer? :/
don't get your hopes up, your amazon.de order is gonna cost you €329.

i don't think it's likely that there'll be a scenario where you'd save a significant amount of money and still get a Switch at release, so you'll better learn to live with that ;)

Off topic: I love Rick and Morty! I discovered the show recently and it's one of the best things I've seen in a very long time, I don't think anything else makes me laugh out loud like it does, not even close :)
I have also been an Amazon Customer since 2000

Amazon Germany was accommodating many times. For example my wife ordered a scooter that has a scratch and she would get a full refund and could keep it. I know that I am not entitled to get it for 180€, but as I wrote, I would have bought it for less in France, if they didn´t made the priceing mistake, so I do think that I am entitled to at least the price that I would have payed if they didn´t fuck up their pricing, twice. More money is always better, but I know that they can´t give 1000+ customers a 150 Euro discount. And when Amazon France can sell it for 300 Euros and still makes profit than Amazon Germany is greedy and greed shall be punished. That said I bought a Nes Mini yesterday for 80 Euros instead of 60-70 because I wanted one :-)

meh, i don't agree with the bolded. (but that might be because i have a retail / wholesale background and i don't appreciate the "if you don't race for the bottom you're greedy" idea. Profit margins are what pays one's employees wages, one's future investments, and eventually taxes, ... everything really. The fact that one player accepts to sell stuff at a ridiculously low margin doesn't mean anyone who's not willing to go there is being greedy.)
Also would've could've should've ... didn't. It's not Amazon's job to reimburse you for not doing what plenty of people have been doing - placing a French order in addition to their .de pre-order.
You're bluffing with your cards face up on the table ;)

Don't get me wrong, i hope you get what you want - just saying you shouldn't be expecting to do so :)

Of course they can set recommended price (or catalogue price if someone wants to name it). What they can't do is force anyone to sell at that price.

Aye, vertical price fixing is a violation against EU law i believe.

You can't say "If you sell to the end customer below the suggested MSRP, we won't supply our goods to you".

I just noticed that Amazon.es shows the delivery date for the Switch as "March 2 (launch day)"

I wonder if they'll actually ship it a day early.

On that note, I have sent Fnac.com a Twitter DM just wondering if there's any chance I get my console delivered on launch date, since I'm abroad. Didn't hurt to ask :P

They said they can only ship it when they ship the French orders, which is understandable. Also, it comes with DHL, so it will probably just be a workday or 2 late. Although unfortunately that means launch weekend missed, I'll take it. Something to look forward to in the week. Gonna try to be AWOL that weekend though or I'll get ruined with envy 👀

GUYS!

I´m canceling my Switch pre-order.

Unless one of you wants it?

It would be ready for Pick-Up on launch day.

NRW.

Anyone interested?

(Will post this a few more times)

Yes, Amazon ES shows shipping on March, 1st and delivery on March, 2nd. Confirmed by multiple chats with customer support.

That's awesome. Just hope Nintendo doesn't take it away from me lol

I also have my Switches coming on March 2nd!

However, there is threat of a dockworker strike happening soon and I am paranoid about that delaying delivery. Tell me it's not gonna happen, GAF!

I hope that Nintendo will flop so hard with that bullshit overpriced console so they will never make another console again EVER.
Enough is enough .I'm not supporting that greedy company again.

Great contribution.

I think I'm gonna print this post, frame it, and hang it in my office.

I'm gonna buy one extra to make up for that.

I've seen this sentiment posted by different people in various threads over the past few days... something about Nintendo that just brings out the salt in people. It's like people who can't afford a new Nintendo console feel entitled to it but robbed by the company's alleged greed or whatever, cue anger and posts like this.

I don't recall people having similar reactions when PS4 launched at $400.
