Nintendo Switch Previews are coming in

Tomorrow will be even more fun since I imagine it will be more varied than today's console previews. Wish we got more video on the official case though.

Believe it or not some people don't sell their gaming hardware immediately after software support dries up for it.
Especially when the system's successor has no backwards compatibility. A few WiiU games will be ported to Switch, as it's already the case with BotW and MK8 (and it's almost guaranteed we'll get Smash Bros. too in the near future), but definitely not all. And for all its shortcomings, the WiiU had a small but excellent software library (that nobody should miss out on, imho). So it only makes sense to sell your old video game systems if one's the type to never replay any games. Also I don't think the few miserable bucks Gamestop and Co. offer are a fair deal for anyone but them.

Kinda offtopic but this seems to be general switch thread at the moment.

A friend is going to the usa in the end of march ... what are the chances of her finding a switch online to deliver to her hotel ?

Between this and how seamlessly Switch can transition between "docked" and "portable" modes, Nintendo really nailed it! It'll be an absolute blessing to have a console where going physical doesn't mean I need to plan ahead by a few hours.

Saves are thankfully on the system itself or an SD card. No need to worry.

So cloud storage for saves isn't available yet?

If she stays into april, she might have a chance to catch a restock.

I don't really know that anyone knows the answer to that, probably high? But this is Nintendo, so who knows.

Can I ask why she has to buy it in the USA? Is it not going to be available in your country? It's region free, after all. Same thing no matter where you buy it.

Finally, the size comparison I've been waiting for. People who say the switch "is too big to be a handheld" clearly weren't around for the early 90s. And that's the smaller revision of the Lynx, the original was even bigger. The Game Gear is almost as big.

If I still owned a Wii U and I wasn't interested in the DLC at all I'd play Zelda on Wii U. Otherwise: Just sell the damn thing and all its games to finance the Switch purchase. Do you really want to have the Wii U until the Holidays to play the Zelda DLC? Really?

My Wii U is going to be plugged in for another year or two since I still have a bunch of games to 100%. It's a non-issue. Hell, I still have a famicom hooked up.

Since the unit charges over USB, I wonder what voltage it takes (so it charges noramaly). I have an Anker charger with IQ, so I guess it shouldn't be a problem.

Yup, also it doubles as a Wii with the built-in Wii mode. I had to give my Wii back to my friend a couple of years ago so if I ever want to find an old game I missed out on I have the chance.

I'm not buying a Switch until Pokemon comes out so.... It'll be a while.

If you want to debate me on how GB will handle it then go right ahead, but i'm not wrong in that there's less content to stream on day one. It's not meant to be a personal attack.

Zelda, 1 2 Switch, Fast RMX, Shovel Knight, Bomberman R, Sniperclips, Skylanders, Just Dance, I am Setsuna. I'm sure they'll have more than enough games to play.

My hype level is unreal! First Nintendo system since Gamecube. I got an XB1 this gen but hardly touched it as my gaming PC can pretty much play anything on that system now.

Gamexplain on battery
From full charge, max brightness and audio, wifi ON, standing on the cliff at the start of zelda:

  • 62% after an hour
  • 2h 9min low battery warning, 15% left
  • 2h 23min 5%
  • 2h 28min sleep mode.

edit: while playing 30 minutes to charge back up to 10%.

Has any preview discussed a working usb-c powerbank? Want to get one for long flights, but worried about frying the switch.

Digital Foundry/Eurogamer's unboxing shows them using a powerbank on it and confirming that they work, but no recommendation on a specific one to use.

You do realize that their Wii-U stream was 6.5 hours long, right? They played all twenty-three launch titles. Hence why I am guessing this year's stream won't match that with about a third of the amount of games to play.

Also, is Snipperclips confirmed at launch? That game looks rad.

Can someone tell me the difference between preview and review as far as Zelda goes? I mean, there has to be a clear set of rules on what can and can't be said, right?
