I mean maybe the trailer isn't that good if you're not someone that's experienced that kind of fear.

But as someone who has? That shit cut me deeeeeeeeep.

Exactly. Maybe the trailer was more directed at black dudes/girls, who have experience in a homogenous middle class/upper middle class environment with a silent veil of racial tension.

Because as soon as that trailer got going I could feel myself sinking further and further into my seat.

I guess the trailer doesn't convey this feeling to a wider audience, but as it seems the movie probably successfully fleshes this idea out, so it reads to a wider audience, who then probably "get it".

Trailer looked ok to me, nothing special. 123 reviews and still at 100%? I'll see anything with that amount. Going tonight, pretty excited after not being hyped at all.

So?
If he did recognize him then he is lying to make his racist points. If not then he just wasn't even paying attention to the movie because the character is part of a big plot point.

The character was wearing a hoodie at night time with a lot going on but I refuse to give Armond White the benefit of the doubt on this because the movie clearly shows his face during those scenes multiple times. That was just blatant lying in the review and he really needs to be corrected over it because missing a major plot character and ignoring him can cause someone to think "Well then what else is White trying to lie about in his review?" Aside from it just being a terrible review in the first place with the movie comparisons.

I don't think he will ever correct it. Far from the worst thing about the review and it was only a couple sentences. It just irked me. At least get the facts straight if you are going to be a piece of shit. Lol

trailer looked fucking stupid. how is this getting good reviews?

Lol. amazing. so much anger over something so innocuous.

Right, making a post like that in a thread receiving near universal praise from actual movie critics is completely innocuous. You make that thread on Voat yet?

Yeeaahhhh you're right. Most reviewers shit out their review of something for clicks and move on, forgetting all about what they wrote until the next review they write.

There's a reason why Rotten Tomatoes removed Armond White from their site - dude is just a contrarian desperately seeking attention like a junkie needing a fix.

Plus, as that review shows, he's also a hack and seems to have become worse as a writer since I last read his tripe.

They did? Wow, good for them.

I don't recall his stuff being in the National Review before so maybe he's just become a conservative darling to trot out now?

Watched this last night and really, really enjoyed it. I thought it hit all the right notes and effectively painted a picture of what Jordan Peele was trying to express.

Minor story/plot spoilers
The only thing I thought could've been better was the subtlety of the plot. Right from the get go you know these people are crazy and some funky shit is going on. I think the film would've benefited from maybe painting Chris as extremely paranoid and first and then the big reveal of the auction should be shown.

Either way that was one hell of a directorial debut. I'm excited to see where his career goes from here.

Saw it earlier today. Great experience. I was really impressed with how the direction, as well as the economy of the storytelling. This movie utilizes Chekhov's guns and foreshadowing extremely well, and on a level beyond what I was expecting.

I was intrigued by the trailers, but it was an even stronger film than I was expecting.

The official answer was that he changed employment, unofficially I think people just got tired of his BS across the board because there's plenty of freelancers and bloggers on RT that are included.

Even Ebert called him a troll and that's all he'll ever be.

Lol what
he wasn't wearing a hoodie

I actually think Armond White offers am interesting perspective when it comes to some films, but that fact that in 75% of reviews he seems to not believe it himself in his writing, it hinders the other 25% of worthwhile criticism.

For example, I like Get Out but 100% does not mean A+ across the board. I'd give it a B, but if every other critic did as well, it would still be 100%.

No one thinks that. The whole point of Rotten isnt a grade but a litmus test of quality.

But of course people will use that to try to detract from the positivity anyway.

The burden is on the individual to understand RT's scoring system.

I think you would be surprised at how many people view the RT score to be one of quality, rather than overall consensus.

Derp. That shitty review made me misremember it. White tried to portray him as Trayvon Martin. I'm seeing it again this weekend with the girlfriend, can't wait. I still want to figure out if the brother is playing the same song during the beginning on his banjo when Chris enters the house.

The 1130am showing ahead of mine just let out and there were alot of people coming out.. its usually dead at the theaters around this time even for bigger releases.

Jesus, tickets completely sold fucking out.

Sometimes NYC can just go fuck itself up the ass. Spontaneity is impossible here now.

Holy fuck.

This HAS to be a Trump era thing. I just mean the overwhelming affirmation.

Can't wait to see it.

130-0

Fucking amazing

That has to be a record right? What an accomplishment. Congrats to the cast and crew and especially Jordan Peele. That's seriously amazing in this day and age.

I firmly believe there's no way we would have gotten this movie 4-5 years ago, it's definitely a product of its time - and I mean that in a good way.

Watched this in the AM.

Great film, would watch again and would like to on home video release. I'm shocked at how good this was, it blew all recent horror releases out of the water.
