Clearly you weren't thinking big enough. But do not worry, you can already start practising, just have to do the purges manually.

Oh, I've purged. I've purged many times, but the idea of a furry plague is another level of evil.

Definitely wait for the next expansion. It's coming soon-ish and it looks like it'll add a lot.
[NinjaEdit: GAF consensus at work, lol.]
I'd dive in now, personally. As exciting as the stuff on the horizon is, there's plenty to see and do currently, with the biggest flaws smoothed over from launch. While Stellaris is like other Paradox titles--always improving--if you're constantly waiting for the thing on the horizon you'll end up waiting forever. Gotta jump in at some point, might as well be now.
Those space foxes won't conquer the galaxy on their own, after all.
There's also a Citizen Service partially hidden under the tooltip.
Feel free to dive in already, if for nothing else than learning the ropes.

Cheers, I'm reinstalling the game. I'm surely I'll be back to ask dumb questions, game feels quite beefy.
Ahhhhhh man that shit's cool! I love the new government building stuff.
Also, I might have missed this before, but what's that new axis on the Ethics chart?
Also, Service Guarantees Citizenship. Would you like to know more?
They renamed/reworked the collectivists / individualists axis. Collectivists are now authoritarian and I can't remember the other one.

Mechanist: Your species is obsessed with the pursuit of robotics. This Civic requires you to be Materialist and has you start with the Robotic Workers and Powered Exoskeletons technologies and a population of worker robots to do the farming and mining for you, replacing some of your primary species' Pops. This Civic provides no additional benefits and cannot be removed once picked.
Fanatic Purifiers: Your empire will not tolerate the existance of any other sentient life. This Civic requires you to be Fanatic Xenophobe/Militarist and gives very large boosts to the effectiveness of your military and gives you Unity from purging Xeno Pops, but disables all diplomacy with other species and forces all Xeno Pops in your empire to be purged (though you get to choose the method of extermination). All other regular empires will also have a massive relations malus with you, the one and only exception being Fanatic Purifiers from the same species.
I've been playing this game for a little while now, can anyone suggest mods from the workshop I should probably use?

Awaken my child, and embrace the glory that is your birthright. Know that I am the Overmind; the eternal will of the Swarm, and that you have been created to serve me.
goty 2017
I already have a Zerg race that can be a douche, but now they can truly be what they were meant to be with this patch. Can't come soon enough. I'm gonna add the Flood for good measure. Actually, I think I'm gonna have a game where 60% of the empires are evil hive minds and see what happens.
Utopia release trailer. April 6th!
Utopia release trailer. April 6th!
Listed at $19.99 on the Paradox website.
Kinda steep, but I might bite. $15 woulda been better unless there's significantly more features they haven't shown yet.
And April 6th is a bit longer of a wait than I'd have hoped.
#justparadoxthingsWhy is it $20? It add some nice additions but i don't see anywhere near enough content to justify it being Half the cost of the full game. That just seems like greed to me. I don't mind DLC packs when they add a substantial amount of content and are fairly priced, but in this case it doesn't seem to do either of those.

At least they're adding stuff here. The cosmetic pack at $8 and Leviathans at $10 were worse.

I'd agree if it was added to a mature game, but it didn't fix anything and now they'll either have to keep updating it to keep up with the new stuff or just hang there as a relic of the past. The cosmetics were horrible(price-wise, the portraits and ships were nice), but Levi for $10 was alright(as far as paradox dlc goes), imo.
Did the trailer show new ships or anything? I can't remember the designs well enough to figure it out.
Lots of stuff to be done on the diplomacy system as well as the combat. It's pretty much entirely re-designing the game from the ground up to go from a passable RTS with grand strat elements to a proper grand strat game.
Lots of stuff to be done on the diplomacy system as well as the combat.
Also fingers crossed for planet management to eventually turn into something more interesting.
This is a good start though.
I agree 100%Not saying they're 100% done, not by a long shot, but they are making real significant progress at it which is always good. Combat would be my #1 concern next because it makes Multiplayer completely trivial right now, every war is decided in a single engagement.
Couldn't care less about this. I see cosmetics as a way to reward the developers ala Rocket League. I am happy to throw money at the amazing work Paradox has done with CK2, but Stellaris still needs to build up that goodwill. Also I really would like more cosmetic packs, need moar new faces and races.

I have no doubt that they are planning for at least as long a tail as CK2/EU4. I am also happy to wait and see it evolve.Wiz said that they've got at least two more big expansions in the pipe.
Because half of the stuff will be in the free patch. And revamping factions, governments. ethics, civics and adding three new lategame options (restrictions may apply based on your empire). They're also adding megastructures and buildable orbital habitats is a lot of stuff. It may not be flashy, but it is a lot of content.
How does a large part of the content of the expansion being free patch in any way help justify the $20 price for the paid part of it? That only makes the price worse.
I know what's being added, and to me there certainty isn't enough to be worth half the price of the full game.
Don't buy it then.
I'm not going to, at least not until it's on sale. That doesn't mean I'm suddenly not allowed to discuss the price with others, though.
People seem to complain quite a lot about Paradox games having so much DLC, how the games tend to feel unfinished in the first place and that you need DLC to get a complete game, this my first Paradox game so this is all fairly new to me, but so far i don't see how this DLC pricing is justified at all.
