-=-=->S P O I L E R S<-=-=- The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild - Spoiler Thread

After watching that stream the game world seems pretty awesome but also VERY empty. Now, I'm not a regular Zelda player so maybe this is normal and it's mostly dungeons but I was surprised at how little there is to do in the open world.

They talk about this a lot in the preview -- apparently the start of the game on the plateau is one of the emptiest parts of the game.

You say this but I dunno about that being their actual intention. Saw the streamer go to the cold area totally unprepared, died from cold 2 times but it literally didn't matter when the game respawns him like 5 seconds ago from where he died, so it's like what's the point of even bothering to heal or keep warm.

Tbh to me they are just giving a sense of fake difficulty by having the Gameover screen appear more but with absolutely no punishment.
The opposite is true fake difficulty is making you repeat segments from a lack of save.

I think the flow was weird. Like you've been living alone on this Plateau for a while, total silence, and all of a sudden boom 300 words per minute. It all happens so fast, he just casually tells you he's the King and then dumps all the story.

They should have taken their time, let the cutscene breathe I guess. It felt a bit off.

I know what you mean, but austin walker said that the writing of the game is great, so i have no doubt that this cutscene is just a info dump to get ground running.

I don't care what difficulty it is, the player just wants to be faced with something interesting. Difficulty is not how much the player is punished alone, it's whether they learn and get better.

The enemy list pretty much confirms there is no creepy/undead area of the game, which is a bummer. It was the one environmental setting we haven't seen that I was hoping for.

Yeah, missed opportunity there. Also way too many variants. I would have rather constantly fluxing enemies.

I guess the amount of weapons and powers means they will fight different, but still

It'd be interesting to see what the DLC will add considering the amount of content here already, a new dungeon with entirely different enemies would be nice.

Uh oh.

Overall the voices aren't terrible- but they're trying to fill the boots of Zelda and the contrast is just meh.
His voice sounded fine to me, my point was really that it's one thing to critique the acting/emotion conveyed another to critique the particular sound of the voice. In my opinion I guess. Someone also said impa from the trailer sounded weird and that sounds fine to me.

Zelda probably will be the one to struggle most, since her acting requires range that I'm not quite sure the voice actor will be able to pull it off

guessing it looked just as good as the switch, right?

Not really. Some of the textures were extremely poor. And when he threw a boulder in the distance with the Stasis Rune it disappeared almost instantly.

I have a feeling this version will be rough around the edges.

Yes, especially since the new story/dungeon dlc isn't until towards holiday season I think we can hope for a bunch of new content including enemy types.

Perhaps I used the wrong wording here, but what I exactly mean is they are pushing the fact that this is a harder Zelda game, "hey enemies do way more damage now!" "watch out for environmental hazards that you will need to prepare for like like cold and heat!"

You may end up seeing the Game Over screen more so you think this means it's harder right?
But none of this literally matters when the game has you respawn without penalty a couple of seconds back. So for example you can bruteforce your way through without preparing your self through a cold area like I saw the guy do on stream.

Trying to avoid all spoilers. Just going to ask one thing that I want to know:

Still had a small feeling that we'd be able to play as a girl. So probably not happening but: Is there away to play as a girl? (If the entire game hasn't leaked yall may not know.)

If the answer is somehow yes, then how do you play as her? From the beginning somehow? New game plus? After a certain point in the game? (And if so is it permanent and where since I'll go there first to unlock her.)

Just quote me and answer. I'll see the green an try to avoid the other posts...hopefully.

Sure you can do that. Brute force methods is something that's possible in nearly every game. Doesn't mean the difficulty is bad, eventually, that player will learn or he will not be able to enter certain areas.

nothing indicates that so far.

We don't, but there's a lot in there. We'll just have to wait.

I guess technically all of those locations would exist in any timeline regardless of whether the events of those games (post OoT) happened.

Arbiter's Grounds from Twilight Princess, maybe we will get an undead area after all.

It's weird because Phantom Hourglass didn't take place in Hyrule and Link's Awakening was based in a dream world, maybe those were all locations based in Hyrule anyway and this is the only game big enough so far to establish that.

There are no horses so it's not everything, but its most of it

Oh, you're right.

I guess that isn't really everything then, it might just be what they've datamined so far.

The BOTW tunic looks like a combination of the NES (Brown arms), OoT (shoulder belt), and TP (belt design).
