-=-=->S P O I L E R S<-=-=- The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild - Spoiler Thread

OK so apparently the amount of memories you've found affects you getting the Master Sword.

I haven't heard much about the memories actually are they linked to the flowers (Silent Princess)?

I heard someone say on a video that the arbiter's grounds are in the game and that the shattered mirror of twilight is there but I've not seen any pictures of it.

I mean if this is the case, it's 100% the child timeline, no? Just centuries later.

from what I've seen, your sheikah slate gets repaired and has pictures zelda took on it, if you go to the places represented in those pictures you should get some memories back

Interesting. So I guess these memories are super important but there's still a shit ton of other big voice acted cutscenes which are not memories.

You can get Epona by scanning the Link Smash amiibo.

Unsure if there's an alternate way.

It can also give the Twilight Princess green tunic.

Sweet, I will try getting them via mine.

Seems like you need 12 to pull it.

I hope not, that's kinda lame.

Hmm interesting, I wonder how much memories do we need to get before pulling the Master Sword.

I wouldn't be so sure... apparently these texts can be found in the game from the Diaries of King Rhoam and King Dorephan of the Zoras. I'm guessing they're parts of the text leak that happened?

From the diary of King Dorephan of the Zora:
Long, long ago... In a past more distant than even the Great Calamity or the creation of the Divine Beast Vah Ruta... There was a Zora princess named Ruto. We know that she was an attendant to the Zora patron deity and that she was a fair and lively girl, beloved to all. Around that same time, an evil man with designs on ruling the world appeared, bringing disaster upon Zora's Domain. It is said that Ruto then awoke as a sage, facing this foe alongside the princess of Hyrule and the hero of legend. Her achievements are remembered not only by the Zora, they are also forever etched in the history of Hyrule. The Divine Beast Vah Ruta, built ages later to face off against Calamity Ganon, was named in honor of Ruto. That the Zora princess-my sweet daughter Mipha-was chosen to pilot Ruta is surely the work of fate.

From the diary of King Rhoam:
Today, as the sun rose and a new day was born, my daughter, too, joined this sweet world. In keeping with the traditions of the royal family, I have decided to name her...Zelda. I am not a man accustomed to frivolous musings, but now seems as good a time as any to begin my royal memorandum.

Reports keep arriving regarding the excavation of relics. The fortune teller's predictions seem to be coming true. Calamity Ganon was not a figure of fable, or even of legend. He actually existed in our great land of Hyrule. We must investigate all the relics, learn as much as we can. But understanding the Divine Beasts alone will take time... Zelda's eyes lit up like a wildfire when I told her about the relics... I must admit, she has a knack for research.

Ruto never awoke as a Sage in the currently existing Child Timeline, iirc, and there's a whole bit of lore in Adventures of Link about how the name "Zelda" became the name for any princesses born in the royal family.

The whole thing about the shatter mirror in Arbiter's Grounds is that someone started reporting it two nights ago without ever backing it up with proof and then it just caught on like wildfire in some of the chats. It could be true, as we know that the AG itself is in the game, but as far as I know- we don't actually have any proof on the status of the mirror in BotW.

So we can get unbreakable weapons and shields? I hope that before frisday there will be a quick guide to the fastest way to unbreakable weapons (especially sword and shield), then the game can definitely be enjoyable to me.

We've not actually seen it, it's just hearsay so who knows.

I think it is weird that the arbiter's grounds even exists though, I always thought that was built after OoT specifically to imprison/execute Ganondorf but I can't fully remember.

I wanted to go to the desert first anyway but knowing that the arbiter's grounds are in the game just makes me want to find that first, I loved that place in TP.

You get a trident from zora's domain that can be repaired. Close enough?
Quotable, even.

The game doesn't have a time line, it is it's own separate universe that just has a bunch of references to other games. Nerds.

A lot of us have gotten the Gerudo Champion's name by now,
but for those who don't, her name is --

I honestly wouldn't be surprised if this is the case. A fourth timeline, or an completely alternate universe, is something I thought was probable from the start. I mean what answers do we need from the current timelines? If anything they went nutter butters with reconning stuff, so I'm glad they threw a Zelda so far in the future that is largely unconnected.

Did anyone find out what happens at the Not Koholint Island in the southeast part of the map?
Did anyone get the Master Sword?
Did we find out about the whole Frontier Village thing?
WHERE IS TINGLE?

I saw a stream with someone using the Master Sword, I couldn't tell if it was going to break or not... I think it degrades in strength but never actually breaks. Not sure though.

Looks like to me BOTW is the Turn A Gundam of the Zelda timeline. Connecting a bunch of stuff with what was thought to be from different timelines and placing it in the back story of one game.

I've seen a picture of the master sword in the inventory with a "time to recharge" indicator on it, I think it "breaks" and then has to recharge before it reaches full strength again.

Similar to Mighty No. 9: Better than nothing, but indistructable is of supreme importance to me. I hate if I am not guaranteed to have all my moves available at all times. I takes all enjoyment out of the game for me.

Does the Deku Tree not explain this to you? I'd assume it would atleast be suggested to you what you need to do to wield the Master Sword.

Oh are memories hard to collect?

No idea, but someone in here said that there are pictures of locations stored in your Shiekah Slate that Zelda put on there, once you go to those locations it plays the memory. I think they include all of the cutscenes we've seen with Zelda in the trailers. I saw one of a streamer playing who visited the Gerudo town and had a flashback play with Zelda and Link and the Gerudo guardian atop one of the Divine Beasts.

I've collected one so far. It wasn't hard per se; but you get no other clues other than the photo. For example, the one I collected had the dueling peaks in the distance; so I had to first figure out which side of the peaks the photo was on; then travel to the approximate place then look around (it's like a yellow glowing circle in the middle of the world).

I found a character that gave me a hint to where another memory was; but that was only after completing a side-quest; and even then, it wasn't marked on the map or anything. He just told me about it.

Man the Gerudo look so awesome in this game, it's like they took Ganondorf's luxorious hair and gave it to every Gerudo in the game and I'm loving it.

Is there weapon or item crafting in this game? A few of the ore descriptions I've seen online mention crafting but I haven't heard anything.

The Great Fairies can enhance some Weapons/Armours if you have the right Material, don't know if you can craft weapons/armours yourself.

so are the champions all
dead and gone, but existing as spirits?

Yes. My personal theory is that Zelda herself is also dead, or at least will be really old by the time we find her in the castle. All of the scenes we've seen with "young" Zelda are flashbacks as part of the memories you have to collect.

You know, it just struck me that Demise's curse has finally come full circle. Demise started as super evil demon with a very descriptive name and now Ganon is just this demonic force described as a Calamity. That's kinda cool.

I read it in this thread that sword, shield and trident can be be obtained that are indestructible after "combining them with something".
Well I'm getting the guide on Friday. So I'll research this for sure. If so I'm aiming to get this done first thing ASAP. I'd rather have destructible weapons that are stronger than I can use on strong enemies, but keep these weapons as back up instead of being forced to use fucking clubs and sticks

It would be great if you could then have look if a reasonable way exists to "walkthrough" your way to unbreakable weapons without ta´king away too much in terms of puzzles / dungeons (which to me are the main meat of the game; if I have to look up a list of 30 photo locations in the world, I couldn't care less about finding them legitimately myself).
