Griss!! ={

i know reviewers are saying the dungeons are different and I'd like to avoid spoilers but did you like them, and were the changes welcome? By that I mean how the dungeons worked and how there were presented within the context of the overarching story.

Not Twilight Princess and Skyward Sword.

Well I guess "quickly" is relative. I wouldn't really call 30 hours quick either. But 40 hours for a non-100% first time run through those? I don't buy it, not without a lot of time just messing around. I think 50-60 for a 100% run is laughable. Wait, do you mean a regular playthrough and then a run on Hero Mode? Cause that would make sense to me.

Not really into how quickly all these weapons break.

It sure is!

Download started, now to get frustrated by Nintendo's servers for the next few hours!

Edit: Looks like it's going to take roughly an hour and forty minutes.

Around the same estimate for me, then there's the patch on top of it. Prob looking at a good two and a half to three hours till go time. Beats standing in line in the cold ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Ditto. I hope later down the track the game allows you to repair them. Everytime i get a decent sword it breaks. I think im setting myself up for disappointment though.
I'm gonna guess the further you get the sturdier the weapons are, but boy do these things fall apart instantly.

Sorry bud, missed your comment. I liked them, yeah, but to discuss any further is spoiler territory really.

I think this qualifies as a major game design spoiler (though all the reviews mentioned it...) but
there are no traditional zelda dungeons at all, at least not along the main story path. They are replaced with these intricate puzzle room type things, that each have some kind of gimmick where the whole thing will rotate on it's side or something. It's like a shrine, but much larger. Personally, I thought they were awesome, but they do not in any way scratch the itch for a proper zelda dungeon. That's fine, this game is a different kind of thing. But if you go into them expecting a 'dungeon' you'll be disappointed.

Basically no enemies, no rooms, no keys, no item to find... just like a large, clever shrine in the most spectacular environment. Whether or not they can be called 'dungeons' will be a point of some contention but they are fun as hell and challenging too.

Got an hour and a half of download time remaining. Then however long the patch takes. Looks like I won't be able to play tonight. But after work tomorrow, all I have to do is press play. Straight up hermit mode all weekend.

Here we goooo!

7 hours until I get to go home to a hopefully-downloaded digital copy of the Wii U version!

Never thought a day would come when I'd be hyped for a Zelda release, but here I am, excited as fuck.

Gonna keep my expectations as low as possible performance-wise, but otherwise I don't really know anything about the game despite the fact that I've watched a Wii U stream of the game for over an hour in total, so really excited to unravel all the mysteries of the world!

Like I said in the other thread: maybe this is finally the Zelda game that turns me into a fan. Or, hell, maybe 2017 is finally the year I really get into Nintendo games, cause the new Zelda and the new Mario both look like they'll be by far the best games of their respective series.

seeing as how spirit orbs(?) are used to
gain either hearts or stamina
is there a way to
respec
? is it possible to
choose all hearts or all stamina? or is there a limit for each
?

How do I know if I've installed the DLC? Not sure where I'm supposed to find these chests, but I need that Switch shirt.

(Also I thought I had posted this already but it seems to have vanished..)

Can you see your playtime anywhere?
Zelda games usually have it on your save file but I don't see it anywhere.
Sadly no. The Switch also doesn't have an Activity Log. Just a half ass one in the parental control app which isn't a real AL. The one major flaw for me.

Edit: Above post: I think I heard they are at the edge of the Plateau.

Satisfying? It's incredible. Phenomenal. The game wouldn't have gotten the reviews it did if they didn't nail the ending.

I don't know... I'm kinda addicted to the game, yet I want to wait and pick up a Switch (or see if I do) before 100%-ing it, or I'll have to do it all again, you know?

As for your second question, that's a spoiler, so...
You go back to your last save before Ganon, but your save file now has a star on it to denote that you beat the game.
What do you think of the reviews? Fair or overblown?

I can't complain about the reviews because it's a 10 out of 10 for me personally, so it makes sense that it is for others too.

However I'm sure some people won't like the game as much as reviews indicate. The world truly is huge and largely empty, you can't get around that. There's a ton of traversal, like any open-world game. If open-world isn't your thing the game might bore you to tears at times. Framerate is a disaster dropping into the single digits at times, and the visuals are honestly pretty poor outside of the brilliant character designs - the IQ is horrendous and the textures are really, really low-res for a game in 2017. It feels like the game design is just too much for the weak hardware it's on, and that's something you can NEVER say about Nintendo games, which are usually very carefully designed around the hardware they have.

And a lot of the breaks from Zelda convention will upset some people too, as will the lack of a truly compelling story. But I love Zelda, I love the first Zelda in particular, and I love open world games. So to me it was just a delicious dish of all the things I like in gaming. It's a massive, massive leap forward from past 3D Zeldas, there's just no denying it. Moment to moment it's just a joy to play, a real joy.

But will there be a backlash to the hype? Yes, yes there will. And I expect it'll start tomorrow when everyone starts getting their hands on the game.

Interesting. The game is almost done downloading so I'll see how well your comment holds up.

I loved every 3D Zelda but I am generally not a fan of open world games. I'll be sure to give my thoughts once all is said and done
