I can't complain about the reviews because it's a 10 out of 10 for me personally, so it makes sense that it is for others too.
However I'm sure some people won't like the game as much as reviews indicate. The world truly is huge and largely empty, you can't get around that. There's a ton of traversal, like any open-world game. If open-world isn't your thing the game might bore you to tears at times. Framerate is a disaster dropping into the single digits at times, and the visuals are honestly pretty poor outside of the brilliant character designs - the IQ is horrendous and the textures are really, really low-res for a game in 2017. It feels like the game design is just too much for the weak hardware it's on, and that's something you can NEVER say about Nintendo games, which are usually very carefully designed around the hardware they have.
And a lot of the breaks from Zelda convention will upset some people too, as will the lack of a truly compelling story. But I love Zelda, I love the first Zelda in particular, and I love open world games. So to me it was just a delicious dish of all the things I like in gaming. It's a massive, massive leap forward from past 3D Zeldas, there's just no denying it. Moment to moment it's just a joy to play, a real joy.
But will there be a backlash to the hype? Yes, yes there will. And I expect it'll start tomorrow when everyone starts getting their hands on the game.
