In relation to the performance issues on Switch docked mode, has anyone tried changing the output on the system to 720p to see if it helps any?

Two questions:

What's the elixir recipe and
is there a change of clothes on the great plateau? I did the ice shrine with some spicy ass mushrooms like a true man.

This game rules.

No idea about the elixir. Re spoilers: There is a side quest for that. What you get is
cold resistant clothes

This might be a no brained, but I never used amiibos before. How do the unlocks work? Do I just need to use it once to get the items or do I need to do it every time?

The first memory cutscene is so perfect. It is a great character moment and also an inward looking commentary on the Zelda series.

Don't know if this has already been talked about, but I tested it out and the game uses the right joycon for gyro aiming. Don't think there's any way to change it.

What is the HD rumble like in this game?

I think it's just regular rumble.

Not sure if i missed it but how do I cook? I just get the option to sit yet the old man tells me to experiment cooking different ingredients

Can anyone confirm whether the German (or other EU versions) work on a UK WiiU, with English voice?

I don't see why it wouldn't, but I don't want to have to drive to game stop to buy something in German only.

Just finished the Great Plateau and man this game is fun, still getting used to the controls but the level of world interactivity is great. Really looking forward to see what comes.

Think I'm going to head to the South West towards the desert.

Can anyone tell me if the master sword can break?

Spoilers, obviously:
Yes, surprisingly, it 'breaks' like every other weapon by losing its energy. They never want you to stop switching weapons. However the Master Sword auto-repairs on a timer and can't be left behind, so it's different to other weapons in that respect.

Holy shit the game is ugly as a sin, I was just playing Horizon yesterday and what a shock it was when I started it lol, the framerate, texture, AF is from an other age, terrible but the gameplay is really good so far and the DA is great but holy shit, this game deserve a better hardware.

This was my initial reaction to the game on Wii U. All I can tell you is that after an hour my eyes adjusted completely to the low resolution and aliasing and I just enjoyed a great game. So don't get too hung up on it.

The framerate is another matter. If people think the framerate on the great plateau is bad (and it's not good) there are two areas I can think of that make the plateau look like it's running at the most stable 30fps. Area name spoilers:
Kakariko village and death mountain.

You have to go into your inventory and use the hold option to hold the ingredients. Then exit and you have the option to cook. Also, make sure you're directly facing the pot- the first time I tried to cook, I missed the pot, hit the fire and just got individually cooked ingredients, LOL.

Just beat
one of the shrine mini-bosses
, that was a legit Souls moment. I never expected combat (of all things) in a Zelda game to be this thrilling. Also got a lvl 60 shield, time to find out if it can deflect Guardian lasers lol.

Just started the game, still on the Plateau. Found some Hylian Trousers in a chest near the beginning, does anybody know where I can find the corresponding top?

Wow this game is great.
I keep making involuntary noises of surprise. The environment is so beautiful, and even though it's a fantasy setting, it has a lot of really naturalistic touches. Just simple things like cranes standing together on a hill look beautiful, like a painting.

Combine that with being a dick to bokoblins in inventive ways and I'm having a great time.

Man how did I miss that?
about where is this quest triggered

There is no quest trigger however
while exploring the plateu you find a small house with a diary, read it and you learn the owner is missing something and if he gets it he will give away the cold resistant clothes.

It never registered as a quest or anything in any menu.

So an hour or 2 into the game, I'm still naked link and I come across some chests with clothes in that were placed at the beginning of the game

Cooking tip for dealing with cold at the Plateau:
You can use multiple peppers to make the dish give longer cold immunity. 5 peppers give you like 12 minutes of immunity.

Do enemies and items respawn, by the way?

I also wish running didn't drain stamina so quickly. Running 100 feet should not take more stamina than climbing 100 feet up a cliff.

Re spoliers: i just learned this while exploring outside the plateu

Thanks Branduil!

I'll just leave this here.

Woah

Yeah, this is quite amazing to me. Docked mode I swear drops to 15-20fps at times - it really is jarring. If Horizon or any other game had drops like that, it would get murdered in reviews-- much less reviewing near the top games of all time. I'm still enjoying the game, but it is definitely marring the experience and should negatively effect the review scores.
(I have the Day 1 patch)

Please go instead to that thread if you want to talk about reviews.

This was actually one of my biggest gameplay complaints with the game, even though it's a minor one. Almost all the systems in the game are balanced so well, but this one felt off. No reason to be able to climb so far but barely be able to sprint more than a few metres. Means that getting anywhere in the game is a constant 'Hold B and release every second' thing.

Oh my god I've been at work for like, 30 minutes and I'm already just fucking done for the day. Zelda day should be a national holiday damnit.

Same here man, I'm doing the best I can to live vicariously through everyone else. My Switch is set up at home, my Zelda copy should arrive today (it better)

Also that
shrine detector
you get from activating a second tower is annoying.
*beeep* YES I KNOW THERE'S A SHRINE NEARBY IM TRYING TO CLIMB TO IT *beeep* SHUT UP

(Yes I know it can be turned off)

Pretty sure there's a way to turn that off in the menu, but I remember it being difficult to find.

If there isn't such a way, you might need to wait for a moment early on in the main quest for said option to unlock. But I can tell you that I played most of the game with that turned off, it drove me crazy beforehand.

EDIT: Your edit beat me.
