Just got Zelda in the mail today (from Amazon), but have to wait till Monday for the Switch itself (from Target) :-(

BTW, does anyone's Zelda cartridge rattle?

Does this game have any cryptic messages/directions reminiscent of say:

I just love shit like that. If I'm out exploring and I run upon a stone or something with an engraving pointing to some kind of direction I'm going to completely lose my mind.

Am getting a REALLY annoying issue with my Switch when in docked (TV) mode. Whilst playing Zelda, the left analogue stick randomly stops responding, eg. Link wont move, or will move a few seconds after I actually press the stick in a direction. Other times he will continue to keep walking or running for up to 3 seconds AFTER I have stopped pressing the stick...

... this is really bad! Anyone else noticed the same issue? I will try in handheld mode later and see if the issue persists.

I apologize if this has already been covered but i'm trying to stay out of the OT to avoid possible spoilers...

Does the WiiU version utilize the second screen gamepad in any way? Managing inventory or map stuffs? I hope so... i always loved that.

Sadly, no. It only display a mesage "press here to play on this screen" or something like that... It is really disapointing...

I wish the game had some motion blur. It really does a lot to make a 30fps game look smoother. I'm not like a 60-fps-or-nothing kind of guy by ANY means, but 30fps without motion blur is pretty stuttery looking.

Not a big deal, but certainly was in my mind while playing.

This was discussed a lot before launch. Restart the system with the the controllers attached the system, and it seems like that updates the settings and fixes it.

All the shrines come with a cryptic description/name.

There are also many subtle hints dropped by NPCs.

Haha I am glad it doesn't have motion blur! It's a setting that sometimes makes games unplayable for me, as in, it makes me physically ill.

a little question for the beginning of the game. on the plateau
what are the ingredients for the recipe that the old man said wants in exchange of the cold tunic? I have the meat and I have the peppers but the guy doesn't remember one ingredient but it said that he found it near the tower... only ingredient there is fish but the result still is not the right dish
.

also, where can I find all my recipes?

Interesting, I already applied the latest OS update (2.0, the first thing I did after turning on the console, joycons were attached the entire time), restarting with the controllers attached didn't seem to update anything else?

fish
raw meat (not raw bird meat)
pepper

Played about an hour today. This part of the game was covered so thoroughly at E3 last year that I really don't have much to say. I'm enjoying myself. I am already torn between focusing on shrines and collecting food fort new recipes. I may not pop my head in this thread again until I've finished the game. Too much to see and do.

Lol just climbed to the top of hyrule castle amazing. Only have 4 hearts lmao.

Small spoiler on what i found there on top:
a korok ofcourse:P

You must be damn good to make it all the way up there with just 4 hearts. The entire place is a deathtrap. If you enter one of the
guardhouses
it's basically game over. Now go fight Ganon and see how you do... I'm sure it will go well :)

I had to look it up.

spicy pepper + raw meat + Hyrule bass

Bass can be found in water right next to the tower.

I'm sure it's been complained about to death, but the run and jump buttons being on opposite sides of the pad feels really awkward. Are running jumps not really needed in this game?

I find that if you just tap the run button then jump it works fine, plus once you get the paraglider that ends up taking care of any need of a running jump anyways.

Whelp I got it late last night, put about twenty minutes in to wet my appetite then went to bed around 3AM. Wasted most the day sleeping and getting some stuff done. Now it's time to plop on the couch for a Zelda marathon of epic proportions.

You guys tend to use your strongest weapons at all times or do you save them for harder fights? Up until now I try to use the weaker ones so they'll break first but since I seem to keep finding more and more, I'm starting to think I should just use the strong ones first.

Well goddamn. Apart from framedrops and this thing generally looking like crap with 720p no AA on WiiU I can't believe I just had to
Activate a tower to reveal
parts of the map

Haven't gotten of the Great Plateau, but it feels really weird so far. Doing stuff is so much harder then it looks in the demos, I think the controls are going to take me quite awhile to grasp. The world really is enormous, it's actually kind of scary. Really excited to continue playing.

should I sell all the gems?

There is no vendor trash in the game, every item has a use including gems.

However, gems are by far the best way to make money and you'd be crazy to hold on to them all in the early game. Rupees are far more important. You might not get the chance to do anything with your gems for a very long time.

Just don't sell anyting marked 'Ancient'. It's no disaster if you do but you'll want a stash of those items later.

If you have only one very strong weapon, save it. If you have 4-5 of them, use them. Early on I had a bunch of level 4 items and one level 34 boomerang. As you can imagine I saved the boomerang for exploring a tough location. If the difference had only been 10 levels I would have just used it, whatever.

At the top of the mountain where you get
the shirt for cold resistance, there's a circle of rocks below it. How do I make the rock fall or do whatever to get the seed?

Somebody will probably say they finished the game by tomorrow lol... ;)

Didn't know where to ask this but can the 8gb Wii u model handle the 3 gb day one patch if we have no hard drive. I know sometimes it requires more room to be able to download. Does it take up like all the space necessary for a Wii u?

I need a list for recipes
I'm looking at these expensive bokoblin guts but don't know the use
My cooking is as bad as IRL

I've got 3 simple ones saved:

---Restore 7Hearts
Acorn x3
Hylian Shroom x2

---Restore 8Hearts
Apple x2
Hyrule Herbs x3

---10min Cold Resist [Don't jump in the water with it.]
Spice Peppers x4
Apple

I'll look up the recipes of the dishes I get the most for when I get back to it. The above are pretty simple but restore quite a bit, should go for a nice amount.

I kinda wish Link would have a recipe book or something - you can look up the recipe of dishes you made, but no way to save them as far as I know, so if you use the item, recipes gone - I write them down lol.

Just realized you can use the gyros for moving objects with Magnesis. Weird because I didn't notice any other review or preview game play use it in that way. Not only that but with gyros you can really whip things around to use like a weapon. First thing I've done with my new found ability though is fling a chest high into the air.

I'm determined to find more unique ways to use runes in combat scenarios now.

So I havent been to
kakiriko
village yet, busy exploring, but it seems getting clothes are quite rare right now? I mean I havent gotten a new piece of clothes since the old man gave me a shirt for the cold

I wish my doorbell would FUCKING RING ALREADY

giphy.gif

I live in an apartment building, so when my game gets delivered I still have to wait for them to call me to come pick it up after they check it in and that takes hours cus I live in a shitty apartment building. Once its 8pm I have to wait till 12 the next day.

I will honestly just buy it digitally If i dont get it digitally.

I dont know why its taking UPS so long today. UPS usually comes by like 11 but nothing today. When it's a game Im really looking forward to, this shit happens.

Im kinda finding myself in this situation, I keep filling up my weapon slot because I keep finding good weapons, kinda wish i knew how to increase the slots, probably in
kakiriko
village D:

Yes.
The vast majority of clothes are in shops, and then certain other stuff is in difficult shrines. You won't find clothes just wandering the wild outside of that set in the Great Plateau. At least, I haven't in 40 hours.

You know,
I wouldn't mind Nintendo doing something they normally don't do and taking this engine and all the assets getting some other team(internal or contracted)
and letting them do a spin-off/side game with it.

I was able to find Links green tunic and some new trousers as well right at the starting area basically. there's a house behind that temple of resurrection that has the tunic but I'm not sure if all the chests are randomly generated or not either.

Unless you're saving it for something tough you know you're going to fight in the near future, might as well just use it. Worst case scenario is you have to go on an adventure looking for a better weapon later.
