Immediate impression of the Wii U version after an hour. Note in advance of all these negatives that I really really like the game. It's fun. So with that said:

- I don't have an issue with frame rates and that kind of thing in games in general unless they're just terrible. I've had zero issue with this game so far.

- Everything was too dull with my normal TV settings so I changed them to make colors pop more. Made a big difference.

- Weapons break really fast. Kill an enemy or two and it's broken. I hate that in games in general, but it's not hurting my enjoyment any because there's weapons everywhere. I bet when I find one I like though I'm going to get pretty annoyed by it.

- Weapon switching is terrible unless I'm missing something. When a weapon breaks, which happens constantly as mentioned above, it doesn't automatically equip another weapon you might have.
So instead you have to hit right on the D pad, which pauses everything and then you thumb through the weapons using the right stick. It just constantly pauses the fights. Really bad choice imo. It should auto switch. I hope they fix this or someone tells me I'm dumb and doing something wrong.

- The run button is B and the jump button is X. So instead of being diagonal from each other, you have to lift your thumb all the way up from the run button to the jump button. It's not terrible in practice but I feel like jump should have been the A button. There is no way to change this. You can only swap the run/jump button and that's it.

- There are a lot of items for health that all just do the same thing and give you some more life. They give varying degrees of health but the point remains. Immediately though it feels like too much.

Aaaaand I realized I went to a completely different region than the one I was supposed to go to. Whoops!

I put on Pro Mode and im literally getting lost but it feels so good. You lose track of the time in the game and IRL.

There are so many puzzles I did some dipshit solution for before realizing the "proper" one seconds later lol.

Even some simple ones like hopping over some spikes that were blocking a shrine. I ran over to a cliffside, climbed all the way up, and glided just to clear them before realizing they were in shallow water and I could just use crynosis to get over

Oversight or based Nintendo?

Lol I solved it by rotating it so the ball landed right at the edge and then popping it onto the tunnel.

Getting the chest was fun.

That whole puzzle felt like nintendo wanted you to find an alternate way.

Someone help me out. I can't find the last
2 shrines in order to get the sailcloth. When I'm on the tower, I see 2 shrines but it seems I can't reach them yet. One is in the snowy area, the other in the mountains. Am I missing something?

I feel really stupid for not figuring it out.

Anybody else finding themselves accidentally clicking the left stick and crouching mid-fight, particularly when you're trying to dodge? It's happening to me often enough to screw me up several times and die.

There's basically one in each section of the plateau. If you go to the top of the snowy moutnain in the plateau and look around you'll see the rest of them. What runes do you have right now?

You find a lot of great weapons. A really great weapon that respawns is in Hyrule castle, to get it
Enter the main doors of hyrule castle. This is facing the plateau, go up and follow the path and there's an opening. Enter the opening and use the ice power to lift the gate up, then go through and to the left to find the guardhouse. Jump down to where the moblin is and a statue will have a weapon that respawns after the blood moon that has 54 power.

Saving this for later thanks! Yeah seems like I'm just starting to see the better stuff, just got a
giant boomerang, can't wait to try it out on a mob :p

How to turn off that sensor thing for finding dungeons

(one other question, my eshop is different from language than the language i've picked, can it be changed?)

I spent forever trying to get a chest out of a pond by dragging it out with nearby metal objects, only to realise the chest is metal and can be picked up on its own...

That shrine which is
completely surrounded by dangerous vine leaves n shit, am I being totally dumb here? I tried jumping off the nearby tower thing, but it wasn't high enough to get in. I'm not sure what to do.

I actually haven't found one of those yet :(. Also, if you get into the guardhouse there's a 38 power weapon in there too by the lizalfos. I found it when I went in there again, not sure if that respawns as well. Also pretty sure the weapon you get completes a sidequest. At least it should as it fits the criteria
It's for the royal guard series, the weapon is a royal claymore but the girl at the stable doesn't say anything different so I dunno

Bombs and Magnetic
You should climb the icy mountain to the very peak. If you look around from there you'll find the rest of the shrines.

So, I did the first four shrines (the mountain one last). Is there anyway to get that frost resistant armor? Or did I miss something?

I found a black horse and I've been trying to tame it. It kicks me off every time -- I've mounted and been bucked off about a dozen times now. I've also tried consuming stamina items to stay on longer. I've upgraded my stamina twice.

I need to know if I'm making progress by trying multiple times or if this is all wasted time and effort and potions.

Normally I'd have given up by now, but the idea that "things work the way you think they should" keeps ringing in my head. I SHOULD be making progress.. But after this many mounts I'm becoming skeptical.

Ping ponging between this and horizon zero dawn. It's damn heaven on both games for different reasons. This is why we play games.

Nice one, this is what I like to hear. It's perfectly normal to like both, rather than shit on one or the other.

I'll be playing Horizon when RDR2 comes out, once I pick up a PS4.

These puzzle shrines, man.

I just got my (item 'spoiler' for like 3h into the game)
climber's bandana
in a way not quite as intended by nintendo, i feel.

You're apparently supposed to magnet-levitate a metal box onto a ground switch to make a ramp go up to a chest.

Well, i was both dumb and smart and used 2 of the "balls" in that shrine + a cube shaped bomb of mine,
which together were heavy enough to trigger the switch, and blowing up the bomb untriggered it again ...

It's the beauty of this Zelda, there is no one right solution.

Speaking of freestyling solutions, I just got done with the Divine Beast Ruta Dungeon.

For the third terminal, I used magnesis to bring the chest upstairs and used the mag'd chest to hook the ball into its socket, opening the gate just enough for me to access the terminal. I didn't even know you could move Ruta's trunk for the water fall for another 20 minutes.

The game really tells you next to nothing, and just expects you to figure it out through trial and error and intuition.

I need to know if I'm making progress by trying multiple times or if this is all wasted time and effort and potions.

I've tamed two buck wild black horses. It's possible. For me I tapped soothe four times before being thrown off.

I see no reason to upgrade health over stamina with the shrine bucks. Health refilling items are so easy to acquire.

I was thinking the same thing until I ran across something while exploring north of the castle that made me realize that I need to go health upgrades

Fairly big spoiler:
If you find the master sword you can't pull it out until your health meter is a certain size (i'm guessing either max or something close to it) because trying to pull out the sword consumes your HP

I imagine it all equals out at the end, regardless of what you choose.

Stamina is definitely more important, but health will probably have its necessities later on.

speaking of stamina vs. health upgrading.

Is there no "max stamina" or "max health" in the game? i would've supposed that, if you were to find 100% of shrines, eventually you'd be unable to upgrade one of them any further, only leaving the second choice, forcing you to be somewhat "balanced" with regards to HP and stamina when maxxed out.

I'm gonna upgrade to as many hearts as i need to have as to not one-shot myself by accidentally blowing up a bomb i just put down when being chased by enemies)

About 10 hours in and I still haven't found any clothing apart from some pants and the cold resistant shirt. Really want more then 3 hearts.

Thanks again! Btw is there a storage chest system anywhere in the game? Would be nice to hoard some of the loot and keep it preserved for boss fights and the like.

2 hours in and the game is amazing. Im getting a Dont Starve vibe roaming the world.

Only bad thing so far is the english voice acting. Even worse because it goes back to the japanese voices when it isnt a cutscene and the english VA sounds nothing alike.

(one other question, my eshop is different from language than the language i've picked, can it be changed?)

Map screen, - sign. I switched it off immediately.
I wish it could still visually light up but not make the sound.

Did you try the strategy a user did? Trying to lure the horse with apples, and eventually riding him?

I just got 2 koroks in a matter of 5 mins, I got osme kind of luck, also i think i fought a poe? There was this dancing magical humanoid thing dancing in the air, and I thought "MAYBE ITS FRIENDLY!" and got close to it until it did the "!" enemies do with the enemy music, so i took it down, to be fair it never attacked me, or atleast never got the chance, i got a electric sword out of it.
