I'm gobsmacked.
Yes, the conversations in this game were one of the most impressive aspects which I was prohibited from discussing in my preview. :-D

Even more impressive is they they even comment about
what you are wearing and holding sometimes.

ikr? holy shit, NPC's react to weather and day and night times.

"Good morning, you already awake?"

Or something like that, i'm playing in german so i don't know what they actually say in english.

Nintendo really outdone themselves with this game.

Gyro, not IR (just like Skyward Sword, but with the bow pointing forward in the TP style, not in the Wii Sports Resort vertical style). But if you play with detached Joy-Cons, yes: rune powers, thrown weapons, and the bow all respond to motion aiming with your right hand alone. Otherwise, it's gyro aiming with the full unit (or controller grip, if you are using that) just like on the Wii U, but it isn't anywhere as comfortable.

Ah ok, thanks. Detached joy-con play will be something I look forward to with the console upgrade.

OK that's good to know. Maybe the good folk at Outskirt Stable don't care much about that, haha.

By the way, is there a good way to make fire? I want to cook some food but there is no campfire nearby to light a stick on fire to use under the pot.

If you have any flint you can put a piece next to firewood and hit it with a metal weapon.

Just did this ball puzzle in Myahm Agana Shire and Christ that was some really really poor design. Forget the motion controls, the fact that the camera angle is so poor that you can't actually see the puzzle properly if you want to solve it is what makes it bad...Plus the camera angle also makes depth perception impossible.

Stuff like this I don't really understand and I question their existence in games because I can't see how it didn't get noticed during playtests. And I am still bummed out on not being able to rotate objects while using magnesis and not being able to aim my bomb unless I use lock on.

As a mouse + keyboard gamer, I'd be fucked without the little motion assist aiming. I try to avoid the right stick as much as possible, seems sensitive.

Is that the shrine where you have to lead a ball in a motion controlled maze?
I just completely flipped the whole maze block over lmao

Is that the one just outside of a village you visit for a main quest?

It's awful. And if you walk while playing it the the maze can twist 360 degrees. I actually twisted it to the point where the ball would drop at the last maze section before the end.

It's so poorly designed, and whoever decided against putting rails across the length of the last section of the maze has to enjoy causing frustration in others.

I've been listening to the soundtrack CD that came with the special edition, and it sounds like there's an audio glitch at about 1:05 in the Main Theme. Am I just lucky, or is that an error in every copy of the soundtrack?

So I just recently got the paraglider and left the first area. Oh. My. God. And I thought the game felt really open before!Tried out some horse riding, rescued some people under attack, encountered a new enemy type, and tried out one of the shrines.

That shrine holy shit that was good. On another level to the shrines in the first area. Some pretty good puzzles in there and a few fights with those mini guardians. This also gave me the opportunity to practice parrying since I finally had a decent shield now and it was really effective against these guys. Timimg required really isn't that strict. Tempted to try it against a full guardian at some point. Really glad I did thia shrine. Came out of it with a bunch of new weapons way more powerful than what I had before.

After that I decided to head for a nearby tower. It was being patrolled by a bunch of guardians and this led to a real intense situation where I was dodging them attempting to climb the tower without them shooting at me. Felt really cool. These things have some serious range on them. At some point maybe I'll attempt to fight one.

I have no idea what I'm going to do now or where I'm going to go. That's the beauty of this game. So much freedom. I cant ever rememberplaying an open world game where the world itself and just the act of exploration was so engaging and felt so rewarding.

I finished that shrine last night, it was horrible. I tried doing it legit at first, but then I started manuevering the maze around and was able to get the ball to start in the final stretch of the maze every time. It ended up being 11 minutes of irritation for me.

Yes that's the one.
And I cheated too
by flicking the controller as the ball landed, took a few tries but got lucky. I'm not sure what's the "proper way" to solve this thing. Still doesn't excuse the poor camera though.

My biggest complain so far is that you can't throw weapons away via the fast switch menu. It would make things so much easier and less frustrating, that whole menu management is really hurting the flow of the gameplay.
Forcing you to eat food from the menu to regain health is another weird thing in this regard. Is there an automatic way to regain health, or do you really have to start menu and flick through food every time you lose some hearts?

This was by far the most frustrating part of the game for me. Some advice for anyone who gets here and is struggling is to just dump the ball out and then rotate the entire maze so when a new ball falls out that it slides right into the center portion of the maze. From there you can just make the attempt to fling it onto the ramp and don't need to go through the actual maze for each attempt. Maybe there's a better way but that method helped me keep my sanity as I tried over and over.

Yeah I did the same.
I was trying to game it by turning it sideways so it would land basically where it needed to exit. Got frustrated and put my controller down to get water and the thing was upside down. Much easier.

Is there any way to stop main quests being marked on your map automatically once you get them? I know you can turn them off but I'd rather they were never turned on to begin with.

Yea I believe don't understand how anyone is suppose to do that bit at the end because you can't see the puzzle anymore if you want to get the ball moving towards that area. So you don't know when to stop.

I suppose most people would just cheat through it.

How are people feeling about the 98 Metacritic score? Agree or disagree? Is it one of the best games this gen?

l agree completely. lt's shaping up to be Nintendo's best game ever. l've played a dozen hours and l already stumbled across a moment l'll never forget, and it was purely optional and way out there.

I've done 25 shrines so far, thankfully no other shrine uses that mechanic again.

Just popped in the game and wandered around ignoring the old dude and everything.

I mean, WOW. Just wow. What a world they created there. This ride is gonna be one hell of an amazing ride!

Sorry if I sound like a clueless idiot, but is it supposed to be difficult to steer your horse?

It seems the horse sometimes becomes restless and he wants to move in different ways. I had that too just now.

If you have any flint you can put a piece next to firewood and hit it with a metal weapon.

I did pick up some flint just now, firewood is not the normal food you pick up right? Or do you mean the wood under the pot? In which case I now feel stupid, haha.

I saw a circle of stones on the ground and it definitely seems to be something. Is it something?

Holy shit, I figured out something awesome about Link!

In
Hateno Village
, there's a
man who talks about a champion that once lived there, but it's unsure as to whether he's dead or alive.
Also,
Bolson is tearing down a house that was abandoned for unknown reasons a long time ago, and Link can offer to buy it. That house is Link's original home, and Hateno is his hometown.

Bolson is totally a Tingle expy.

While I am loving the game and the investment in the Switch for Zelda alone was worth it, I don't think the scores it has received are justified due to the technical issues and the poor IQ of the game. Some other games have had points docked for technical issues and performance, but I also understand that the under lying game is so good that some reviewers felt knocking it for graphics/tech issues was not worth it. I would never score it a 10 out 10 because that means it was perfect and technical/frame rate issues is enough to knock it from it being awarded a perfect game. I actually don't think of any game that I would give a 10 since to me no game is perfect....but Zelda does come close as do past games like Shenmue, Phantasy Star (Sega Master System), Halo CE,

Within an hour of starting the game the first thoughts were "I wish the Switch was a bit more powerful" because the game is so damn good, if it was a more powerful console it would look even better. For me the biggest thing is the shitty shadows, poor AA and the inconsistent frame rate. If they could manage to get it to 1080p it would help with the IQ.

To me it is one of the better games of the current Gen, but not a 10/10.

You can smash the ball like a honkball bat and easily solve it it's what i did lmao it really worked no kidding.

Yeah I agree about that part about a more powerful console. If one game deserves to have superb IQ and just overall amazing graphics it's this one. It is what it is but I can't deny that I kept thinking about that too for a while.

So can anybody confirm if my game is glitched?. I watched a stream of a cutscene that had voice acting in it. But when i got that cutscene earlier there was no voice acting from the characters just subtitles. This makes no sense everything else is in English but voice acting seems to be missing from some cutscenes! Or is this only on the Wii U version? What is happening i am so confused right now!?

I mean if you go through the 10/10 reviews, they all points out it has frame rate issue, enemy variety issue, inventory management issue etc. But why they still give it a 10 is because it's something unique, special,it's so different yet still keep its very core
