Never noticed that before

Yeah, the one I got mentioned in the description something about "giving power to easily shoot far away enemies as well as nearby enemies", I guess that meant first person aiming.

Phrenic bow I think, I got one on the way to the Sheikah tower near Hateno.

Finally beat my first
divine beast
. Man, that was hectic. And bring lots of foods and weapons, arrows or you will regret it.

Haha every girl in this village has the hots for Link. Its cute how Link also reacts to their flirting as well. Expressions are so good.

I must find the firefly girl and make sure shes happy and doesnt do something drastic ;_;

It's amazing how in Zelda's journal in her bedroom, they actually try to explain why Link is so quiet and they describe that Zelda has a huge, obious crush and desperately wants senpai to notice her. She's so tsundere. Lol.

I'm really liking this game so far. It still feels massive, even after around 10 hours.
Taking my fair time, playing in pro mode and just love to discover the world and trying stuff out. Almost every detour has a reward.

I'm just out of the first village and tamed my first horse. The first platou took me around 4 hours, because I was (failing at) hunting to get the recipe, to get the cloak to not freeze on my way to the last shrine... Then I didn't want to go through the canyon, I wanted to climb both mountain - and discover the shrines. And so forth...

Not sure if I will ever finish it, because I'm not sure I have ever completed an open World game, but the chances sure are higher than ever!

The World has a sense of history and feels lived in. I just love how every time I enter a forest it feels like a forest with wildlife, an appropriate scale, flora and fauna. And the sound - first time since MGS3s The End that I ever felt like I was hunting and blending into my environment. That might just say that I played the wrong games so far though :P

I can just advise anyone to play without the HUD and stuff like the Sheikah Sensor. It feels much more like exploring a world than just following the next breadcrumb.

This kass riddle is driving me insane,
gerudo tower
.
Anyone done it yet?
edit: nvm i did exactly what it said, even tho it makes no sense it worked.

Questions:

1. How's the combat and exploration "feel" - like, is it fun to just tool around, a-la Red Dead?
2. Are there lots of "no you need to do this first" dead ends, or can I meander and do mini quests?
3. Does easy mode contain everything, or are there content "bumpers" that remove aspects of the harder experience?

How do I switch 1st/3rd person aiming? I want 3rd person aiming back

This was fucking with me hard last night and I got no response, but I figured it out. The bow you have equipped is doing it, try another and see. I guess some are meant for longer range but it actually makes my aim worse, lol.

It's directly across from Impa's house in Kakariko Village. Just put your back to the guards at the stairs and look straight ahead and there is a little Grotto Shrine. At it's center is the goddess statue :)

Oh... I came in here to say that I wished there was a fast travel point at the Temple of time cause I just fast traveled from Kakariko to the starting cave to go turn in some orbs lol

Good to know!

Probably a dumb question, but there's no way to hide what you're wearing on your head is there? Seeing Link walk around in a bandanna is kind of weird.

Just did my first bigger shrine, with multiple puzzle mechanics, enemies and chests. Really liked that.
I hope there are a lot more of these bigger ones instead of the Shrines that only revolve around one puzzle mechanic.

1. yes
2. once you are off the tutorial plateau, you can do whatever you want including bee-lining to the castle

As far as I'm concerned, this game goes from amazing to one of the greatest games ever made on Pro mode.

Could someone point me toward a list of what's safe to sell (i.e. junk) and what can be used as a material and should be kept? It's hard to tell what items are combinable. I picked up a
diamond
and need money but I don't want to sell it if I can craft something with it later and won't be able to find another easily.

Agreed. All the UI elements distracted me way too much. I'm not nearly as efficient running around mindlessly but I don't give a single shit about it. I want this game to last me as long as possible.

I find it hilarious that the game actually explains why Link is silent all the time. Like, he's actually silent, it's not just a game design thing, and his motivation for being that way is made explicit. Made me smile. (And it's totally ridiculous...) The shrines are also explained, which was cool.

The exploration is the best part. There's tons of environmental puzzles, loot, enemy camps, etc. dotted around the map. In terms of combat, it depends how you interpret the weapon breaking system. I personally love it. Weapons break really easily, but you can carry a bunch of them. The combat is sorta halo-esque where you're meant to be constantly picking up weapons from fallen enemies and then using them. You can also handle situations in many ways thanks to the physics-based powers you acquire. For example, you can use a magnet power to whack enemies with a metal box.

As for #2 not that I'm aware of. The beginning area you need to complete before being able to go anywhere. But once you're out in the open world, you can literally go wherever you want and take on mini quests you find. There is a main quest with an objective marker, but you can de-select it from the quest menu and complete ignore it.

As for #3....uh....easy mode?

This is my first Zelda. Anything I need to dive in.. what should I visit prior to understand this game .. any games I should play? I'd rather just watch a video, play thru...

It's not even that mindless, the game is perfectly designed around pro mode (dare I say that it was actually how the game was built to begin with and various UI elements were added later as assists much like AC1). The UI elements are supplementary not mandatory for the most part (some button prompts persist) and everything is readable within the game world and what the player does.

Even the quest markers on the main quest can be deactivated without concern, the game will lead you to those locations extremely naturally anyways.

It's incredible how well designed this game is. I have only a few minor QoL complaints (namely with dropping weapons, but you can do that so fast anyway that it's not too much of an issue) and I dislike some of the voice acting (though more of it grew on me over time) but holy shit, I don't think I'll see another game of this caliber for years.

Played about 3 hours. Game is fantastic so far. Such a great sense of exploration and adventure, trying to figure out everything without incessant hand holding. can't wait to see what else this game has to offer.

I love the heavy Samurai-Era-Japanese esthetic of Kakariko Village.

I was hoping the game would have a very Japanese area and it does not disappoint!

My favorite "atmosphere" in Twilight Princess was the Goron City and how incredibly Japanese it was; with the Sumo Wrestling and the hot springs :)

Kakariko Village in Breath Of The Wild makes me wish I had a Spicy Tuna Roll to eat every time I enter it.

Noooo I must..not..click. I closed my eyes and scrolled down to block the spoiler while typing this lol.

Anyone else having trouble with this first quest from the old man after the very first Shrine (magnesis)? He wants me to tag all of them and I have but he just keeps asking if I still need help?

Am I just supposed to go do the Shrines now?

ugh. Been on one fight for 1 hour or so. Keep getting 1 hit. I guess I should get more shrines to get more heart containers.

It is the Zora miniboss where you get the shock arrows. I get the technique going, but if I make 1 mistake he one shot me. Have 5 hearts.

Should I just turn back and do other shit?

I finally made it to the first town... and I was in it for a grand total of two minutes before something caught my eye and caused me to leave.

All of my exploration paid off since I was able to buy the full stealth set. I really like this armor set.
