Yeah apparently all you needed was the "record."

By the way I would recommend not using him if you want a semblance of challenge, because he trivializes a ton of enemies.

Oh ok I was expecting him to only have 3 hearts

I'm find with him doing that, the enemy difficulty on this Zelda is much higher then past games

Okay, someone spoil the solution for the Shee Varner/Twin Memories shrine for me...

There are TWO shrines - one on each mountain top. You have to remember the initial position of the balls in each shrine and move them to that position in the opposite shrine.

Just cleared out the camp at Hateno Beach. Oh man what a fight!

In related news, where can I find or craft more boomerangs? This thing is awesome!

Yes finally fixed the missing voice acting from cutscenes. Turns out you have to switch the consoles audio settings from surround to stereo. I have no idea how Nintendo missed this problem during development on the Wii U but at least it works now.

I played for about 12 hours so far and aside from the Framerate this is the best Zelda game since what seems like forever ago. It addresses every single issue from Skyward Sword and then some. They also achieved what they failed to do with the Wind Waker basically giving you a huge world worth exploring and not restricting you. Its incredible and i have not yet even seen a single major dungeon yet! If this quality keeps up then this will unquestionably turn out to be the best Zelda game ever made.

I'm really awful at this game. I didn't watch any gameplay before the game came out aside from whatever was in trailers, but I just don't know anything. I didn't know I needed to cook food to create buffs to cold areas, it took me such a long time to figure out how to get to that shrine without dying from the cold.

Now I can't find this dude to get the paraglider, but this one is just me being dumb I'm sure. I go to where all 4 shrines would cross in the middle of the map and I can't find him.

Pray to the goddess statue there and get either a heart or stamina upgrade and he'll call you out to come up the destroyed temple.

What do you mean by " all you needed was the "record" "? i don't understand how you get all the hearts.

My bad didn't explain myself well, you need to get 20 hearts in TP and then you only need to finish the first part of the trial with Wolf Link to save the record on your Amiibo and that is enough, you don't need to finish the whole thing.

I'm trying to get to
Hateno
from
Kakariko village
and there's a
centaur
looking dude that keeps shooting ice arrows and killing me instantly. Argh!!!!

Running on foot can be tedious with how quickly stamina drains but the game is dense wonderful distractions. It's so easy to just daisy chain from one thing to the next and end up in a completely different place than you intended two hours earlier.

This is exactly my problem. I am so far off from any of the places I'm "supposed" to be going. The part of the map I'm in hasn't even been lit up yet by a tower, nor do I even know where the tower is. I never have any idea where I'm going or what I'm walking in to. I couldn't even backtrack because I have no clue where I've gone. I have never not felt completely and entirely lost in the time I've been playing.

I really need to get a horse.

quick and easy way to make money for me that I don't know how long it takes to respawn but hey I was able to buy the armors that I wanted plus also buy Link his own
house
. In the
Twin Peaks
shrines at the top there are some ore deposits that respawn over and over again, guess we need to see how many days it takes.

So if I already finished the first two parts of the Cave of Shadows and I only had like one heart left, then I need to finish the full Cave of Shadows with a lot of hearts left in order to get a Wolf Link with the same number of hearts in BotW?

Is there some way to use the Amiibo to get your hearts back in the Cave of Shadows?

That moment when you whistle for your horse, while fighting enemies, defeat them just as the horse arrives and jump on its back to continue galloping unabated like a total bad-ass...

Hot damn.

You say far, but it's far more likely that the people you are talking about just happened to go a different way than you after leaving the plateau.

this

a friend did the hyrule fields shrine/tower, for example, only a few hours in - and I did it like 15 hours in

I asked this before, how to get the wolf after it dies. The game said i cant summon the wolf again today, so i slept in the game till the next day but it says the same thing. Do I have to wait in the game without sleeping or using the campfire to respawn the wolf?

It's real time not in game time.

It's talking about IRL days

This is very stupid, but I'm maybe 4 hours in and I STILL get the bottons confused.

Great game though. Just wish the controller wasn't backwards :p

Interesting tidbit about the Wii U version: the.back of the box says it supports multiple control configurations using the Wii remote. However I've attempted these and none of them work. I get the feeling Nintendo pulled it at the last minute so the Wii U i has absolutely zero additional features compared to the Switch version..

Bummer as I was interested to see how the Wii remote controls would work for aiming.

Not sure I understand the value of the horse when I can't fast travel with it or summon it wherever I am. Is there a better way to manage your horses?

I feel like the story in this game in one of the weakest in the series. So many hours with the story going absolutely nowhere.

Because I'm just exploring and haven't touched the main quest since leaving the plateau. It's kind of a side effect of open world design. Even if the story is good, I'll experience it in chunks hours apart because I'm off doing other things most of the time.
I've only just reached the first village and I already feel a sense of epic about the story. I love the plot and the way it's being told.

Don't forget this story is being paced over possibly 100+ hours, while fitting in an open world, a cast of characters, a heap of gameplay mechanics and more.

I was told it was game time. I'm not home now but any idea if I changed the Wii U's date to the next day and tried again?

if you want to be lame :p

(also I have no idea if that works or not -- but amiibo are pretty good in this game so it makes sense to limit their use)

How do you do that?

Floor 6,20,40 in Cave of Shadows have save checkpoints to your game file and amiibo on the first run. If you saved your Wolf Link amiibo with your remaining hearts in either of those floors, it should be good for Botw.

If your doing Cave of Shadows just for the Wolf Link for Botw, I advise not saving in your game file so you can keep repeating the first 6 floor till you get a perfect 20 hearts run to save into your Wolf Link amiibo. If you save your game file when completing those floors, you can no longer be able to save in those floors if you redo the dungeon.

So I've heard a lot of people say the game is much easier than expected, is this true? Or are there difficulty settings and I'm just not aware? Just wondering. Game looks amaze-balls.

So since I already did floor 6 and floor 20 then I'll need to go all the way to floor 40 to get all the hearts for my wolf in BotW?

Is there any way to use the amiibo to replenish hearts in the Cave of Shadows?

i totally brute forced my way to the super cold shrines on the plateau

just pick enough apples and mushrooms, heal yourself and run/climb correctly and you can do it

You didn't cook any of the spicy peppers?

I have died multiple times... and none of them were on a boss.

Two questions after just starting the switch version:

1. Is there really no way to turn off the subtitles in cutscenes?

2. Does the pro controller have rumble? I played the opening minutes of the game twice to test out the handheld mode and I noticed rumble in handheld mode I didn't notice on the pro controller.

Anyone? Bumping for new page.

It seems like the edge of the map is devoid of stuff to do. I started to head west from a coastal village and there was a lot of nothing.

I'm hoping that it's just that edge of the map, because it doesn't seem difficult to carve routes through the world that have nothing going on.

Were you on the lookout for Korok seeds? I found a lot of them on the beaches starting south to east.

Almost impulse bought a Switch today, just for this game lol
But I could eventually think straight and control myself.

it provides a decent challenge -- depending on where you go. Most players, I suspect, will die in this game by stumbling on things that are too powerful for them.

Some of the sidequests presented to you along your adventures will also be challenging. E.g., at hatero village, I received a quest to clear the beach of monsters. I figured it'd be easy because that's the type of thing that's always easy in these games -- But it turned out to be too much for me at the moment

Finally dug into this a little bit this morning. Got off the plateau, at least. I'm blown away so far. Couldn't figure out how to get some warmer clothing (don't tell me, I'm trying to see how far I can get without help) but managed to get to the shrines anyway through some careful torch and fire placements.

The game is incredible. I haven't felt this way about a game since I played my first Souls game (Bloodborne) in 2015, and it had been even longer since I had felt this way before that.
