Yeah, I guess I miss having every reward being relatively significant, it's kind of tough to get excited about Korok seeds when there areNo. I completely get this sentiment.
There is no sense of momentum whatsoever because I'm constantly daisy-chaining a thousand trivial little things. I've been playing for seventeen hours and haven't found any memories or met any story characters besides one. I complete a bunch of shrines and get the item rewards inside, but they break and then it's like they were never there.
I have Korok Seeds I can't spent. I have raw materials I can't use. I haven't made any changes to my wardrobe or Sheikah Slate. For all the time I've been playing, I've ultimately accomplished very little, and it's been all for disposable or consumable rewards. Every time I try to make legitimate progress, I end up exploring for three hours and stumbling upon another unrelated story element. This is different from how I normally play these kind stuff of games where I see side quests all the way through before starting another one.
If I had to boil my complaints about the game down to a single detail, it's the impermanence of your reward for all the time you invest and all the land you explore.
900 of them
That sounds pretty nice actually, I'll try something like that. I just wish that I didn't feel like I was forcing myself to play in a certain way in order to have fun.Like with any game, don't burn yourself and don't feel forced. You can always come back later to do X stuff you didn't do. Open worlds games usually ask you to find your own pace.
Edit: my routine is simple
- advance story to a new map
- unlock tower in that new zone
- hoard everything I can see (kill camp, do shrines, loot)
- cook
- advance story
- explore each square of the map before moving on to story to see if I missed anything (so I activate the damn sensor at that moment lol)
- cook
