Finally went back to the Plateau to beat the Stone Talus. I remember how intimidating it was like 15 hours ago when I started. Good times.

The entire trail leading up to, as well as in, the Z
ora Domain
with the nonstop rain has never gone above 20fps on wiiu.

I swear on my life. 30+min straight of a constant 20fps or lower.

This has got to be the worst framerate Nintendo has put out in a long ass time.

The framerate becomes abysmal in some areas on switch as well

i just got there

man, what a fuckin awesome run up to a new place. this game captures "Adventure" like no other

playing on Switch handheld, noticed no drops from 30

So like...is it possible that I don't have everything I need for the
Ruta
puzzles?

I can't seem to figure out the one...

I'm really not enjoying this game. It's the last thing I want from Zelda. I end up wandering around for hours not knowing what exactly to do and stumbling off in a direction with monsters that kill me in 1 shot, rinse and repeat. It feels like this game is just wasting my time.

Then there's the weapon durability system that's infuriating. Ooh I found a nice weapon upgrade! Too bad it means I'll inevitably end up wasting it on trash mobs b/c the inventory is tiny and I'll inevitably end up having to use it just for space.

Or like how my torch broke and I've been searching for 2 hours for a new torch. Why can't I just buy one at a General Store?

Ugh, frustration and waste of time: the game. Possibly worst Zelda in a decade.

Lizalfos will eat fruit on the ground. That's neat.

The music in
Lurelin
Village is really good.

Regarding increasing inventory

Where do you find the maraca guy after you get two upgrades and he takes off?

He told you to follow Hylia River north.

Anything wooden can be a torch.

If you don;t like wandering into areas with powerful enemies then I suggest you just stick to the main story path.

Even in the village there is no signs of improvement thanks to the rain making it even WORSE.

I seriously can't comprehend how they thought this was okay.

You would definitely hate the first Zelda game lol.

So I beat a dungeon and

Is the reward permanent? How does this work? This says it respawns me with full hearts and a boost, is it one time use? Does it have a timer?

The one from Ruta?
Revives you on death with a couple of additional hearts, and then goes on timer for 25 minutes. Pretty reasonable given how often you die

You have absolutely no idea what you are doing

How far into the game are you? Give the durability a chance - I find it keeps fights dynamic, and makes you stay on your toes. The combat system is not very deep so I think it could end up being something you like after spending some time.

However, I agree with the bolded. That aspect is definitely annoying.

Finished "that one motion control shrine" and honestly didn't find it that bad. At least using the Wii U gamepad. Maybe I just played with too many of those wooden labyrinth toys when I was little, I found the tiny tilts and movements really intuitive and almost zen-like. The only thing that was annoying/unfair about it was the very end.

Also, does anyone else feel like they're missing out when exploring on horseback? I like being able to traverse quickly on horseback but I feel like I'm just glossing over all the nooks and crannies (and potential Korok puzzles) when exploring a place for the first time.

100% agreed on both fronts.

Completed *that* shrine on switch, did so by taking my right joycon out of the grip. I held the joycon like I would have held the labyrinth, not a normal controller grip, and it controlled as expected with zero drift.

I love how easy it is to get completely and totally distracted in this game
"Okay, beat the water temple, now I should really get back to finding that village where the scientist can upgrade my thing"
"WAIT, is that lake named Saria!? And that hill Makar!? I know what's there, oh my god"
>2 hours later and I'm knee deep in the Lost Woods trials and I still haven't upgraded my thing

This morning I started out wanting to climb the Dueling Peaks. I eventually did climb them... 6 hours later.

omg I just played BotW until my gamepad died. It is glorious. The interplay of all the mechanics makes it really hard to put down, and I absolutely adore their take on open worlds. Koroks are god-tier collectibles.

I am dying to go back...

We need to get a "how to spoil tag" tutorial in here, lmao. Give SOME indication of what you're spoilering, and don't worry about random location names unless they give something away.

The game literally tells you where you should be going at all times. You don't ever have to go off and explore. You can just follow the points on the map if that's how you want to play the game.

omg, I just found the fire rod in
the dark ruins
I dont know if its going to help me in here all I know is I found one of those shrines that are in the ground with a hole in the middle that I dont know what to do with.

Guardians are fucking tough. Stumbled onto a stationary one in the fields in front of Hateno Fort and I could get down to about 25% with my entire arrow supply but there was no way to approach and kill it without dying first.

Short little detail.

If link is naked while opening any chest (except from the front), he'll either punch or kick it depending on his stance and then whince in pain from doing so.

Learned this one out during the
Eventide Island adventures

If it's wooden, it can be lit up on fire as a torch. Clubs, branches, spears, etc.
And if you need a torch, just bomb some monsters so they drop their club and you got one. If you can keep an axe on you use that to cut bushes for branches to get your branches to use as a torch.
Can expand inventory later
Don't ever have to deal with monsters. I've probably spent more time bombing monsters from the top of a cliff then actually engaging them.

Game is way easier when you think outside the box and instead of typical direct methods.

What the hell was with
the blood moon crap?!
Just left the plateau and I'm greeted with
a huge thunderstorm and a Zelda telling me something about a blood moon and monsters

Did I do something weird or does everyone experience this???

This happened to me at the same time too. It felt just like
Majora's Mask end of the world
scenario but I was able to steal a horse from an enemy from this lol

does the fire rod break?

It does after awhile, regardless of whether or not you actually strike enemies directly with it. It does last awhile though.

---

I can't believe I naively thought they wouldn't put any love into these shrines just because there's over 100 of them. They've been extremely varied so far.

I have to stop playing this like other open world games. I'm just wandering around picking up crap and clearing out outposts and it's getting boring. Is there any unique loot or am I just going to keep getting generic swords and crap from all these chests?

It takes a while to appreciate the goat-ness of this game but I think I'm there now. Went exploring outside of Hateno village I saw an island off in the distance to the east. If you know what I'm talking about...

Holy shit! Eventide is some fucking Dark Souls shit. Still haven't figured it out. Considering the shrines nearby (which I broke all my weapons on and still didn't finish I'm thinking I might have to come back later. The big goblins at the top of the hill one hit kill me.

Follow the objective marker if you want to play the straightforward way.

and stumbling off in a direction with monsters that kill me in 1 shot, rinse and repeat. It feels like this game is just wasting my time.

You need to get used to the combat. I've been able to take on a couple of enemies at a time now by getting better at jumping slashes and dodging. There are trials that will train you better as well.

If the enemies you are facing are too strong, come back later.

Then there's the weapon durability system that's infuriating. Ooh I found a nice weapon upgrade! Too bad it means I'll inevitably end up wasting it on trash mobs b/c the inventory is tiny and I'll inevitably end up having to use it just for space.

The early game weapons that you think are amazing aren't really that great. Don't get too attached. The weapons are just a means to an end. Your ultimate goal is to find a certain type of weapon and defeat Ganon, remember?

Or like how my torch broke and I've been searching for 2 hours for a new torch. Why can't I just buy one at a General Store?

Why? There are many ways to light something on fire. I hope you're not using the torch in combat, otherwise that's why you are dying in 1 hit lmao.

Ugh, frustration and waste of time: the game. Possibly worst Zelda in a decade.

Absolutely not. You just have no idea what you're doing. Pause and think about what this game is asking you to attempt.

How do you get that leaf you use to sail the raft?

It is a random drop from pine trees. Just look for some and cut them down. I've made a habit of always keeping one in my inventory because sailing is very fast and effective.

Its also fun. I kind of love sailing despite how simple it is.
