Finished "that one motion control shrine" and honestly didn't find it that bad. At least using the Wii U gamepad. Maybe I just played with too many of those wooden labyrinth toys when I was little, I found the tiny tilts and movements really intuitive and almost zen-like. The only thing that was annoying/unfair about it was the very end.

Also, does anyone else feel like they're missing out when exploring on horseback? I like being able to traverse quickly on horseback but I feel like I'm just glossing over all the nooks and crannies (and potential Korok puzzles) when exploring a place for the first time.

Yeah, I find myself feeling that way when I'm on a horse too (though I also feel the horse controls are not great so maybe that's part of it). A lot of times I just hop off my horse and run off in some direction, using the whistle to have it/him/her keep up.

Though this backfired on me when a Moblin decked me with a club around the cliffs near the tower close to Hateno and sent me flying off into the river below with the horse still up there. Thank god for fast travel

So I found a horse not long after I left the plateau but in my travels I have yet to find a stable. I'm determined to find a stable on my trek and not leave my horse behind, but where I'm at is so mountainous it is not only tough to get around on horseback but fucking treacherous now that I'm walking along the peaks. To make matters worse, it just started raining hard so the ground is more slippery for even my horse and I literally said "shit, this weather sucks!" and thought about waiting out the storm, when I realized I was talking about a video game like this for the first time in my life. lol

I have to say, it feels so rewarding to scale a mountain on a horse and I kept thinking it wouldn't let me since so many open world games have prevented me from doing the same sort of thing just on foot. Finding a path that is sloped enough to take a horse and carefully navigating so I don't fall off (not sure if I can plummet to my death yet since it seem the horse stops you before leaping off a cliff, but I've had some close calls and you can definitely run off parts that would be otherwise very difficult to climb back up from) has added a whole new element to traversal. Even if I can't "Revanant" my horse off a cliff, just trying to make sure I arrive with my horse at my destination has been a whole new experience that I've never seen and it's been the moment that has made me more attached to my horse than even any danger we've been in together.

I really love this game.

Lizalfos will eat fruit on the ground. That's neat.

The music in
Lurelin
Village is really good.

He told you to follow Hylia River north.

Anything wooden can be a torch.

If you don;t like wandering into areas with powerful enemies then I suggest you just stick to the main story path.

I'm literally trying to do just that. I was told
"go find one of these 12 spots you have photos of".
Ran into "WTF Death" trying to get to the closest one. Couldn't find any obvious road there so I climbed over a mountain, nearly froze to death, glided off and met a fucking asshole with an ice bow.

You would definitely hate the first Zelda game lol.

You're right I don't like it. I like Link to the Past and newer.

You have absolutely no idea what you are doing

Absolutely true. It sucks. Would be nice if the game taught me better.

How far into the game are you? Give the durability a chance - I find it keeps fights dynamic, and makes you stay on your toes. The combat system is not very deep so I think it could end up being something you like after spending some time.

However, I agree with the bolded. That aspect is definitely annoying.

I am
at the point where I've been told to go find one of the spots that the Sheikah Slate already has a photo of inside it after making it to the Hateno Village lab
. I've been playing for around 10-15 hours and have completed 10 shrines.

It takes a while to appreciate the goat-ness of this game but I think I'm there now. Went exploring outside of Hateno village I saw an island off in the distance to the east. If you know what I'm talking about...

Holy shit! Eventide is some fucking Dark Souls shit. Still haven't figured it out. Considering the shrines nearby (which I broke all my weapons on and still didn't finish I'm thinking I might have to come back later. The big goblins at the top of the hill one hit kill me.

Which Shrine,
Moderate or Major tears of strengths? I can share my tactic for Eventide, if you'd like. I was even able to kill the Hinox. By the end of it all you get 300 rupees and whatever you can scavenge

The LatAm Spanish dub is so amazing, holy shit. It's great to finally play a Nintendo game with high-profile Mexican VAs.
So glad to read this, : ) That's the language I'll be playing, and was curious about overall VA, beyond what was in the trailer.

I lifted a random but slightly suspicious-looking rock and found some treasure. I cut some grass and an nice item popped up. And once during combat at the edge of a cliff I tried to glide away, got knocked out of the air by something, and instead of plummeting to my death I landed on a little hidden platform with a treasure chest.

So many little surprises hidden practically everywhere.

Oh boy I just got to Kakariko village and someone put a couple of highlights on my map and got an indication of just how big this game is...

O_O

I LOVE the amount of wildlife Nintendo put in the game, seriously. It makes me feel like I'm a some Animal Planet show stalking all the animals
and trying to take perfect pictures for the Hyrule Compendium. I also enjoy reading the description of each one lol
.

Also climbing is so fun once you barely make it to the top of something....it feels like you accomplished something especially when you see the views from all of the many peaks. Just unlocked my 4th section in the map(northern middle section) and it blown my mind seeing
Great Hyrule Forest.....I actually didn't see the forest yet since I was busy climbing the mountain in front of it but I turned back around after getting to the top and wow, it looks pretty foreboding/creepy since there's so much fog there! And holy shit, there's a huge ass dragon somewhere past that area too?! Not to mention looking back at where the volcanic mountain is at and seeing that huge Guardian scaling it
. This game......

Regarding combat, does anyone else just
spam throwing/laying bombs at bokoblin mobs and then pick up the lower grunt weapons to finish the blue one
? I feel like this is the best way to conserve your best weapons early on.

In either case, I love how the game even lets you preserve weapons this way.

Was near one of the shrines and saw a human but
it ended up being someone from the Yiga Clan! Fun fight and got a lot of rupees (:

How am I supposed to beat a moderate test of strength? When I get down to the laserbeam I get destroyed.

My friends had a good laugh at my expense watching try and figure out how to climb a particularly tall tower.

Luckily Octo Balloons are a thing, so I eventually got it lol

I can't believe I'm saying this, but I'm having an extremely hard time actually enjoying this game. I'm not far at all, to be fair (I'm on my way to Kakariko Village), but I feel like I'm missing something. I just keep finding Monlin encampments, destroying them, and moving on.

Also, I *hate* that Link doesn't automatically switch to another weapon when one breaks!
Try pay more attention to your environment
As for the weapon, if you pickup enemy's weapon you will equip it automatically, it will get better when you go further
You can also use your free bomb or anything in the environment

The most important: don't force yourself to enjoy anything if you tried and don't like it it's fine

How am I supposed to beat a moderate test of strength? When I get down to the laserbeam I get destroyed.

Yeah, my tactic once that animation started was to just pick my best weapon and wail on it as best I could. It does the laser when it's near death so I saw that as a "it's you or me bud" scenario.

Leaves behind it's weapons, too. Once you finish I advise the major test of strength below on an island, it was a challenge having only four hearts. But you end up with many 60-80 strength weapons

I prefer parrying over strafing but to each their own

I think that's a quest you're supposed to slowly complete and you progress through the game. Do some side quests and try and get some leads on where to find a Divine Beast.

My enjoyment of this game is SO on-again-off-again. I was all frustrated and stuff earlier playing. Took an hour or two off of it, then started playing again and really enjoyed it. I really do dislike how fast weapons are destroyed and how fast the stamina meter runs out. I don't mind that those mechanics are there. I just wish they didn't deplete so insanely fast.

That motion control shrine
with the ball and maze

A speed runner can probably get that whole sequence done in 10 seconds.
By dumping the first ball, quickly rotate the maze so the next ball lands on the exit path

Even more fun if you flip the whole thing upside down lol.

If you did all that then call it a day you playing it too much in depth to be complaining

Just started this tonight and after a few hours I finally made it to the first tower. There is definitely a lot to do in this game and I haven't left the plateau yet.

With the trials
I broke all my weapons and still managed to do half damage to moderate. Major no chance at all. Did you use attack up food for them? On Eventide is it possible to get the orb from the cyclops/ogre without killing it? I managed to take it down to half health using the club under its body. The orb at the top, is that a metal plate on the shrine? Couldn't lift it with the magnet iirc

I really love this game.

There's a stable
a wee bit north of the section you're in. More specifically, I think 25-50% north left.
Hope that helps!

Early in the game, but one of the shrines is on a cold mountain and I haven't figured out how to keep myself warm. :(

Guardians are fucking tough. Stumbled onto a stationary one in the fields in front of Hateno Fort and I could get down to about 25% with my entire arrow supply but there was no way to approach and kill it without dying first.

Head to the top right corner of the map and explore Akkala. If you unlock and craft the
Ancient Arrows
, a direct hit to a Guardian's eye is an insta-kill.

So are you guys going with hearts or stamina upgrades?
Hearts all day every day. Climbing gets difficult sometimes, but losing 6 hearts in one hit from an enemy is worse.

Besides, there is a glitch where
you can run forever stamina free. I think it is done by whistling and running at the same time.

I think that's a quest you're supposed to slowly complete and you progress through the game. Do some side quests and try and get some leads on where to find a Divine Beast.

Perhaps so. Yesterday I went off in the direction of the Divine Beast closest to Kakariko (N/NE by 1 zone) and ended up encountering a fully working Guardian in a swamp near a Shrine, and it laser blasted my face off in 1 shot. :-/ Thanks for the tip though. Maybe I'll try again or try to get to another one.

Maybe I'll just buy the guide from Amazon.

This really isn't the experience I was hoping to have with Zelda.

Ok, now this game has its hooks in me. Problem last night and the tad I played this morning was I'd went entirely the wrong way after leaving the plateau and was dealing with empty areas and getting my ass kicked. I spent quite a bit figuring out recipes to be able to climb
Faron
tower and once I did realized I was going the wrong way to get to Kakariko Village, lol.

Finally got back on track, and took my time getting their and doing shrines etc. along the way. Really digging the game now that I've got things figured out, bought some new clothes and upgraded them at the
Great Fairy Fountain
etc.

Hell of a time to be a gamer who loves action adventure games between this and Horizon! Going to play a little of the latter before bed now as finishing up all I could find to do in Kakariko Village seems like a good place to stop for the night. :D

Hide behind cover, then chuck a bomb out of the cover. The eye will turn to the bomb explosion. Wait awhile then it'll think you're gone and facing the other direction. You can then walk up behind it and slash away. You may break a couple of weapons in the process but it's a free kill at that point

I probably had good luck with my weapons. I had an extra weapon inventory slot, and did my fair share of adventuring so all my weapons for Moderate were 18+, I had like a Lizalfos sword which was 24, and three broadswords which were 26, a guardian sword which was 20, among others I forgot. I ended up with enough weapons to take down major, though I can't clearly remember if I used the equipment that Moderate gave me during that fight. As for Eventide, for the orb I climbed the mountain that Hinox would be facing if he were to awake beforehand, eliminating the enemies. Afterwards I paraglided off the mountain and once I was on top of Hinox I would just softly paraglide down. On his belly I crouched, obtained the powerful weapons on his neck (later used against the enemies on top of the other mountain), and either rolled or threw the orb off of him (I forget). Then I crouched off his arm, and picked up the orb, walking slowly as to not wake him up. If he perks up a bit, stop what you're doing until he goes back to sleep. Even if he wakes up you have enough time to place the orb in its place. As for the thing on top of the shrine, you use stasis to stop time and accumulate kinetic energy by hitting it.

DO NOT attempt to defeat Hinox or the large Moblin without equipment unless you are skilled (and have arrows for Hinox), it is far too risky.

Edit: When in doubt, use bombs to help out. Particularly referring to electric gelatinous enemies.

Question. Under what conditions does
Farosh appear at Lake Hylia, and how do I get a scale?

I think it only appears while it's storming. It has a much higher chance of appearing at Lake Floria to the southeast. A scale flew off as it was diving back under the water for me.

Just defeated my first boss! And it wasent in a dungeon...technically, but I beat it with some zelda level power planning and thought, it felt great.

Early in the game, but one of the shrines is on a cold mountain and I haven't figured out how to keep myself warm. :(

Can carry an object in flames to stay warm, or carry a bazillion apples/hyrule shrrooms.

If you reach the top of the mountain, the old guy will give you clothing that protects from cold.
