This is the Zelda game I've been waiting for for more than a decade.
I've always been a fan of Link and the idea of Zelda games but never really been able to get into the 3D Zelda games. I played Link to the Past on the Gameboy but at 21 I wasn't the right age to play Ocarina of Time. Twilight Princess has always been in my backlog. I disliked Skyward Sword, absolutely hated the art direction which I couldn't get past. The characters were ridiculous. I mean...really? Annoying music, bad graphics, didn't like the gameplay. I've thought most Zelda games are overrated, favourite game of all time is The Witcher 3.
This, though, this is fantastic. I avoided most of the videos beforehand either because I wasn't that interested or I didn't want to be spoiled. But it's joy to play, it looks fantastic for a Wii U game, the art style is surprisingly good, the gameplay is really fun, the world is compelling. I could see it getting repetitive if it stays like this the whole time, but for the first time I'm really liking a Zelda game. I've always wanted a realistic Zelda game with good graphics, but this is it's own thing in the best way.
Very happy to own a Wii U now. After this I'll have Horizon which will blow me away with its graphics.
