The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild |OT| A Link from the Past

This is the only open-world game in a long time with places that made me say "I want to go there."

GTA V maybe almost had some moments like that.

The fact that there's pretty much always a useful or interesting reward for checking stuff out helps too. Korok seeds, precious gems, Shrines, hidden NPCs, memory locations, etc.

Like, earlier I was searching for Shrines in the northern snowy mountains, saw a mountain and went "you know what, I'm gonna climb that". Stopped what I was doing to climb the mountain and found
a woman living by herself in a cabin out in the middle of nowhere, who was running a snowboarding minigame
.

76 shrines down, I'm shooting for around 90 before I start looking up where the rest are. Some of these "find the shrine" quests are really interesting. One recent one I did:
I had to gather up the Rito children to sing a song, which I then mimicked by blowing air with the big leaf into holes. This opened a shrine which I cleared. Later I found the children all lined up in Rito Village singing along to the area theme.

This is now my favorite Zelda game of all time. It's beautiful to an absurd degree. It allows me a non-linear approach to how and when I want to focus on the tried and true "Defeat Gannon" journey without shoving the end game in my face. It's full of hidden treasures that reward people who love going off the beaten path yet it doesn't take away from those that prefer a more direct journey. Zelda feels like more than just a stereotype princess this time around and I fucking love that. It allows for experimentation (something completely new to the Zelda franchise) and it's so packed full of content that you always end up pleasantly surprised by the shear moments of discovery you were not expecting.

This is my GOTY without question and the best Zelda of all time. OOT finally dethroned for me.

So do any hints for Keo ruug exist in the internet? I'm only finding complete solutions which I don't want to look at.

It's really hard to give a hint that doesn't totally give away the solution, but I'll try.

Did you notice how the glow-torches by the slots count up from 1 to 5?

Finally found a shine I hated.

Myahm Agana Shrine (Gyroscope Puzzle)

At least it was kind of short. Something tells me there's going to be a few more of these shrines throughout the game. =S

I've only completed one dungeon, but it was plenty complex, I got stumped several times. It was different from dungeons of previous games, being more like one huge puzzle rather than a series of several smaller ones, and in terms of sheer size it felt smaller than dungeons usually are, but it still took me as long if not longer than a dungeon in any other zelda would. Not much combat though.

The boss was not complex, but it put up a fight. I died a lot.

Perfectly worded.

yeah. I'm trying to figure out how they translate into real numbers. Do I look at all four columns as sort of a times table, or is each one separate. If I put a ball into row 3 column 1 does that mean 3? If so what does 3 do? The constellation in column 1 has 3 stars, but is that even relevant?

How do you make money real quick?

Sell gems. Always be on the lookout for glittering rocks, break them and hope gems pop out. Ones flecked with gold will always pop a bunch of valuable gems. You can also sell monster parts for cash. Guardian drops can be pretty valuable, so go through lots of Shrines. Shrines also often have precious gems or rupees in chests, so make sure you always take extra time to look around in them.

That motion controller ball maze shrine ...the alternate solution isn't a fuckup from Nintendo. I just got to a similar puzzle in another shrine and (light spoilers for the first puzzle)
immediately flipped the puzzle over and well, let's just say I couldn't cheese it.

Hint:
The number of stars in the constellation does not matter. Neither does the number of "endpoint" stars. The only thing that matters is the shape, but this is NOT a "make out the hidden number in the shape" puzzle.

Look at the constellation map.

I disagree, the first dungeon I completed was short and diappointing, not many fights at all, and once you figure ou the gimmick its finished quick

I finished t in like 25-30mins, and I did get stuck for a bit too

Overall it did not feel like a zelda dungeon at all, the setting didnt feel dungeon-esque too, and it was too short. Its a shame.

A thing to improve the next zelda for me is def the main dungeons. because these ones are shaping up to be disappointing

Fuck I just read what the Wolf amiibo does and it's sold out everywhere 😤

Btw can you do anything with gems or just sell them? I found a diamond but don't know if I can do something else with it.

Guys, I finally found it, did picture going around of what you have to do in gerudo desert, you know ow the one ive finally
turned into girl link

Brought the orb to like the back of the room and hit it until it was red.

Took me a couple saves and going through all my weapons.

Ended up with a
Giant Ancient Core
.

Smart!

I tried
bringing it to the first puzzle but it didn't seem like it was working, I could have missed it though, maybe I just need to bring it further back like you did

Wait- Should I be selling all my gems? They aren't used in crafting or quests later?

I'd like to know this too. I'm at the beginning of the game, have found some decent amount of gems, but I don't know whether to keep them or sell them since they say they can be used to craft weapons.

Just a minor nitpick, but I wish there was an option to swap an item out immediately when you pick up an item (or open an item chest) and your inventory is full.

Oh man, I am still *very* early in this game.

Nintendo really, really pulled it off. Zelda has been a bit of a tired franchise since OoT for me. I love Majora's Mask, and while I've liked the other games, the formula needed to be broken.

They have been just over the top succesfull at keeping the feeling of Zelda, the puzzles and all, while breaking apart the sort of monotonous "oh boy, I got this gadget, I know how to solve every fucking puzzle in the game now" feeling that permeated the franchise.

This is probably the most relevatory a game has been for me since Arkham Asylum as just a genre-bending experience that felt like something I needed in my life.

Maybe one of the dungeons sucks, I dunno. First dungeon for you is probably different than first dungeon for me.

I love that this is a thing.

You can use the gems to craft some armor that helps resist cold/heat/electricity etc

I believe you need only like 3 or 5 pieces to craft a thing tho, so you can sell the extras

I just finished Naboris and it really had a dungeon feel. The puzzles were right and I felt like I was going through multiple different rooms, but still interacting with the whole thing. I agree the first one felt a little... simple, but Naboris was dope as fuck.

So Master Sword question:
if I respec to get enough hearts to pull it out, can I put the heart containers I took from stamina and put them back, or do I need to keep 12 or 13 hearts or whatever it is?

Of course it's not, this game's essence is about multiple solutions to a single problem. It's this game's identity and why it works so well.
I know. I didn't think it was a fuck up. I do know that people shared the same sentiments. There hasn't been a time in this game where I was like "can I do this?" and it felt like I was breaking the game or hadn't been thought of from a design standpoint. Just trying to emphasize exactly what you said

Really?

That's good to hear... I was afraid the others were going to be similar

you only need the 13 to pull it, not use it. you can respec your stamina now. thats what I did

Checked my Wii U log: 18 hours exactly in. I've just gained entrance to the first dungeon, but didn't go in yet. Instead I went exploring and found 3 shrine quests, solved one, and did two normal shrines. I've done 4 towers, 23 shrines, 40 koroks, 2 memories, and a ton of foraging and cooking. I can't play more until tomorrow, but I'm mentally planning what to do next (only to get sidetracked eventually). I love this game so much. 100+ hours, here I come.

So much good loot in the labryinth.

I now have a
frostblade, thunderblade, and flameblade
from some pretty elaborate shrines.

First time I encounter Yigo or was it Yago or whatever tribe member.

It was raining I was low on hearts and healing items and it was difficult to fight her, because she was fast and dodgy and I thought I can't beat her. But then rain turned to storm and I keep noticing how her sickle was laying sparks and soon after lighting strike hit her sickle and killed her.

I was O_O and laughing like a madman.
