Had a lot of fun exploring the snowy mountains to the west of the Great Plateau today. Thankfully I had two fire weapons otherwise I would have been screwed / way too cold. Maybe I missed it but I was kind of disappointed there was no shrine at the top, I got a couple from lower on the mountain, but a way to easily warp to the top would have been nice.

Also, I don't remember the dungeon names, but one of the Shrines at the base of the mountain took me a solid half hour to do today because I was over thinking it. It was the one where you had to carry around a block of ice.
Towards the end you need to slide the ice block through some fire, I assumed that would just instantly melt it and didn't try it. I kept trying to put the ice block on a magnetized block to carry it around the flames, or through the ice block and use the magnet block to block the fire, etc. Oh well at least it's done.
 
Side quests in Kakariko
What is left for the Journal of Various Worries? I've done the coocoos around town and shown the painter the great fairy fountain.

You can drop stuff into/around the fire to do super basic cooking, but you need to find a pot to do anything that requires more than 1 ingredient.

Also you shouldn't cook yourself; autophagy is probably not healthy
 
I thought I was being smart by using the sheikah sensor to track rare ore mines.

That shit beeped everywhere I went, had to turn it off lol
 
Do this game ever give you a map to Korok seeds in any way?

Either by marking the map, giving me a radar beep like the shrines or telling me how many in each area?

Cause I don't know how anyone would tackle that task otherwise.

Marshes, jungles, arctic tundra, volcanic, dense, foggy forest. It has everything


Am I the only person who hopes to see Lynels become a featured species in a sequel to this game? They are regarded as the most intelligent species of enemy, and they would make a fine addition to the series staples such as Zoras, Gorons, Rito, Koroks, Hylians, etc.
 
One of my favorite things about this game is how menacing and threatening Ganon is. There have been numerous points playing this where I've thought, "Fuck, he really isn't messing around this time."

You don't need to kill him (as has been said by previous posters) BUT if you want to kill him you can do what I did (I killed him with 6 hearts base)

1) Concoct a triple defense buff elixir and sleep in the waterbed of Zora's Domain inn (if you have the ingredients you can also make a meal that gives you extra hearts but the triple defense buff is more than enough for almost all his attacks.

2) Grab some good weapons (the enemies outside the Domain have some really great ones) and a pair of shields in case you commit a mistake while dodging.

3) Master your dodge timing so you don't really on your shield that much.

4) Pray to Hylia.

If you beath him he gives you a bunch of strong equipment plus more shock arrows that you ever need for the rest of the mission.

Stealth. You're not really supposed to fight him.

Today was my exploring day, I only have four towers left to unlock. The things I have seen! This game!

The things I like the most are the mysterious and magical stuff that pop up here and there with little to no explanation. I actually got goosebumps when I saw (rare animal/creature spoiler)
the Lord of the mountain. I was in a Ghibli movie suddenly

I think the idea is to add stuff that will generally get you in the right direction. So if you wanna go fast potion, use swift lizards + some monster part. If you want to heal and get a temp defense boost, use Ironshrooms + some food. Generally you can double or triple up the item that gives you the boost to increase the effect. (for example, more Ironshrooms = more defense).

So, this being the case, I've found that a log book would be superfluous because the descriptions of the items generally hold the clues you need to find out what it does.

Is it possible to craft a pan to cook things? I know how to create fires. Do I need a pot lid or something?

I really liked the short saber I got from the shrine in Lake Hylia ("breaking the sky" or something). I don't remember the name of it. It hit really quickly even though it wasn't too strong, and I found the speed way more valuable than damage output for most fights.
 
Starting to love this now I've had some more time to see what the open world offers. Saw
Hylian Dragon, blood moon and a lightning storm that killed me when my spear gave out its own burst.

There's some stuff I'm wondering though if anyone could help. What's the easy way to catch a horse? I can build my own fires, but can I get anything that let's me cook at them? Is there a fishing rod to be had somewhere? It's hard trying to work out what may or may not be in the game.
 
Went to stock up a bit on ancient arrows, and it feels so satisfying to one shot these guardians lol. Think I am going to save up for the chest piece and leggings least for the ancient armor.

I've done a few things with them:

The non-elemental ones can be imparted with elements a few ways, most easiest I've found is burning and lightning strikes.

Once you have elemental chuchus, you can use them to set up traps. This is especially useful if you've found yourself short of reasonable weapons and need to take on a large enemy camp. Set up a few chuchus in the area and run the enemies around them. You can use an Arrow (wasteful) or a bomb (less wasteful) to set them off.

I've found they're pretty useful.

There is probably something crazy that I'll need them for later though, and I'm treating them like fucking tripwire traps :lol

They can also be used as dye material.
 
Just to be sure: if I try to take down the dude you guys are all talking about in
Zora's Domain
- the one you should probably sneak around - how does the Game Over mechanic work? Can I go all in in every single attempt (for example eating meals, drinking poitions, break weapons etc. ) and if I game over do I keep the poitions and meals I used or does it save over the file?
I hope I could express the question properly.

I beat him with 4 hearts.

Cook a lot. Enough healing food, attack up, defense up, and hearts up. Go to the Great Fairy and get 2 or 3 fairies. Then practice dodging.

If you die the consumables will be restored to prefight.

most probably know this but the ones who missed it:
when you have the actual item in your food stash, click on it and there's a "recipe" option that will show you what its made of.

It works correctly, unlike previous Zelda's. If you die, it goes back to the auto-save, including still having your potions.

so the house you can buy, one npc said it was from a person that went to serve on hyrule castle, and that it was from hundred years ago, sadly I cant make him repeat that to confirm. So... are they making link buy his own home?

I didn't even attempt to fight him. Just snuck around collecting the electric arrows.....Will go back to fight him later.
 
So I'm currently in the desert and doing the main mission there. But I'm stuck at one point:
I have to go to the bandit camp to retrieve a helmet. When I got to the place (on top of a bigger rock) I heard Zelda saying something but I didn't understand her and there were no subtitles. Any clue what I am supposed to do?
 
What is there to do about the rain? It rains very often, and when I'm in the middle of climbing all I can do is wait on a ledge and stand still until it stops. Leaving and coming back later is generally a waste of time because there's a good chance it will simply start raining on that try as well.

Not exactly riveting.
 
Hahaha holy shit this game surprises me all the time. I went to go do the sheep quest at Hateno Beach and combed over that whole area.
I see a shrine across the water. There is no way I'm getting to it so I go up the nearest cliff. Another shrine! I finish that one, glide down, do the second shrine, and decide to take the close raft to the nearest island. Then the game decides "oh so I hear you like a challenge?" I spent hours trying to overcome that island! Hahaha
