I hate when I am in the middle of an open field and the weather turns to lightning then I have no choice but to either just let myself get killed by the lightning or warp to somewhere else. It is really annoying sometimes.

I think I just found the best way of collecting arrows - just look out for weak arrow shooting enemies, keep them in a safe distance, and dance around them while you collect all the shot arrows from the ground that missed you! You can't do that for an infinite amount of time, but it still good enough to ensure you never run out of arrows!

Also, does anyone else prefer walking by foot than using a horse? When riding I feel like I'm missing so much stuff constantly on the way and offside the road lol

And the kids running around and playing in Hateno is exactly the kind of detail that makes the world feel alive. LIVED IN unlike
A Link Between Worlds
(lol)

What amazed me was how the kids in Hateno reacted to me running around with the
Blue Flame
. They all chased me acting super excited. It's so cute.

Why don't you just unequip your metal items?

Looking for basic hint on DB
Elephant
looking for a way to reach the
4th terminal. Can't reach the snout so trying to reach its head area. Am I doing it right by trying to jump off the trunk to glide into its head?
cause after several gliding attempts I'm starting to think I'm on the wrong track again.

While standing at the end of the trunk, play with the beast's controls.

Well those are just one time huge costs lol

True-- but still! It adds up and I'll want to have that much when I stumble upon the fees :p

Oh that's awesome. I feel like no matter how long you play this game you're going to keep discovering new little details.

Wish the game told me that, I am sure it is in the random tips but a better explanation would be welcome.

Yeah, when you open your inventory during a lighting storm, you'll have these sparking icons on any weapon or item that has metal that attracts the electricity. Just switch to something else in the meantime and hope you're not running around nude when a Guardian shows up.

The towns are amazing but can we talk about the kids. The kids in this game are adorably designed and written, and of all races! The first time I saw a little Zora I wanted to cry it was so cute. And then it said I looked funny...

Yea, I hadn't really thought about kid Gerudo or kid Zoras. I like the world building a lot.

The Gerudo for example, I thought it was cool that the regular town people don't seem to really care about men being in their town (and many find it pretty annoying they can't live in the city with their husbands), but it's an ancient law that the guards enforce, and the Gerudo just sort keep doing it because they always have. It felt like a very real slice of Gerudo politics. Also Gerudo are terrible at talking to men, which makes complete sense.

So I always thought "it's bs how everyone just accepts this dude as the hero and just bows down to support him. Like if I was there I would want to be the hero!"

I just got to a part in the main quest that addresses that exact narrative weakness I've found in zelda so far.

I stand corrected, now. But that cutscenes gave me the chills.

I wasn't feeling this game at first, but after giving it some time, it's really grown on me. Now I'm sitting at work just thinking about what I'll do next in Zelda when I get home.

I played 25 hours over the weekend on the Wii U version and had a pretty great time.

I think there's a similar comparison to make here with Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain. A lot of people saythat MGSV was a great game, but a bad Metal Gear Game. I'd say similar is true with Breath of the Wild and the Zelda series as a whole, but I wouldn't go so far as to call it a bad game, although the FPS issues prevent me from calling it perfect either.

I just can't get over the game format missing
long form dungeons with iconic bossfights at the end, items like the hookshot, heart pieces and skulltulas replaced with spirit orbs and seeds, no wallet upgrades or bottles, and so on
. I get that they chose a new direction for Zelda and it's not meant to have those unless I just haven't found them yet (
I currently have only defeated 1 Divine Beat, Ruta
).

But like I said that doesn't make it a bad game at all, I just miss the old formula a little bit. I have had a ton of fun with it so far and hope to continue enjoying it for a long time. Its an absolutely massive game and the thought of 100% completing it is actually kind of scary.

And how they acknowledged it's essentially a commuter town lol. Just in different terms.

At the same time, I like how it impact on our behaviour because usually I don't care when it rain in a game.

Not saying it's blatantly obvious or anything but the game clues you into it by showing sparks on the metal weapons/shields on your back. I believe that's supposed to be what shows you it's the metal and not you that's attracting the electricity.

When it first happened to me I was playing handheld mode, and the sparking wasn't super obvious at first. I think the handheld mode is great, but it can be a little hard to see stuff sometimes.

I love Patricia the sand seal such a cute and funny character. The localization really shines with her
fortunes
lol the kind of charm you can only get from Nintendo.

Damn, I think I encountered a glitch or got really unlucky with the physics on
Eventide
Island.
I beat all the enemies in the island, including the Hinox but only found 2 orbs. Apparently, the one on the camp on top of the mountain somehow disappeared since I put the on on the Hinox and the one on the lower camp into pedestals. I searched all the island, even the sea and never found the damn thing. Eventually I decided to quit the trial and will try it again... It's tough too so it's super annoying that happened, although it's an awesome trial otherwise
.

Where should I go after Hateno Village? Seems like the game really opens after that with Divine Beasts quests, but I went to a few different places and the enemies all seem to be much tougher than what I faced up to now.

I find it the most fun to just pick a direction and explore. It's what the game does so well. Sure, you can get killed by giant creatures that are way more powerful than you are, but to me that's part of the fun.

Breath of the Wild just nails the adventure part of action adventure in a way few games - if any - have done before.

is anyone else spending hours climbing any and all peaks they come across and just looking around down below

I obsessively climb every big mountain I come across. Almost all of them have a shrine or a korok at the top, so it's totally worth it.

It's a far cry from something like Skyrim where I look at a mountain and just sigh as I open my map and try and find the fastest way to walk around it.

I had a big holy shit moment last night.
Just to the west of Hyrule Castle, there's a mountain by a big river where the river sort of intersects, and explosive barrels near the bank at the intersection. On the side of the mountain was a winding trail of thorny vines that led up to what I noticed to be a bomb-able rock further up the cliff face. So I got the explosive barrel, planted it on the ground where the vines started, blew it up, the vines caught fire and the fire spread up through the other vines, clearing a path to the bomb-able wall, where a shrine was waiting
.

That is how it's done.

There was a big conversation about this a little while ago.

The answer was... uhhh... yeah, I don't think we figured anything out to that.

Not that I'm complaining, the Rito are so much cooler this time around...

Too bad there's no Anouki or Mogma though (or is there...?), loved those too.

I'm generally the only one who primarily plays Nintendo games in my circle of friends. I was the only one with a Wii U (although many of my friends picked up a 3DS years into its life). One of my friends planned to get a Switch later this year; he ended up getting one the Sunday after launch. He also bought Zelda. He's never really played Zelda before or was a fan, but he's in love with the game. He brings it to class and has a Joycon in each pocket and plays with his hands in his pockets. When the professor comes by, he just puts the console to sleep, and it looks like a regular tablet. He talks about his experiences in the game frequently in our group chat and says that Zelda is probably the best console game he's ever purchased. :]

This game is something special. I think I remember reading about how Miyamoto wanted kids playing the original Zelda to talk to each other about their experiences, and it looks like they achieved that once again with Breath of the Wild.
