So there's this ring of stones on an island in the middle of the river on the way to Zora's domain. Is there a secret there? I can't figure it out (ze bombs, zey do nossing!)

The Lost Woods puzzle is one of the most satisfying Zelda puzzles I ever finished, it's in your best interest to not spoil it

It's so simple, but when you get it, that feeling is something else.

I ran around randomly til I figured it out. I didn't even know if there was a "trick" beyond the first half.

What did I miss?

Beat the game :)

Did I miss something?

I heard there was a boss rush. Where is it? I just fought Ganon.

Also, are there multiple endings? Something was said during the one I saw that made me think that there could be another.

you are forced to fight any dungeon boss you havent beaten before facing ganon. I had to fight the fire and wind ganon first before calamity ganon appeared.

Yes. You need to toss something in there. That's all the clue you get.

The Akalla tower was great. I hope there are more puzzle towers like that in the future.

How did you do it? I'm pretty sure I climbed it 'wrong'.

I circled around trying to find a way up multiple times, eventually used that half broken arch and was able to just barely squeeze by a small gap of ooze to get on top and jump to the higher part of the tower.

I did exactly that. Many gaffers did that actually. I wonder if thats the intended way.

I heard that you can get traditional clothes by beating every shrine. I have no clue if it's true or not.
I'm addicted to these shrines so I'm hoping I get a small prize for it
It's in the game apparently, but the way you get it is absurd. I wish they kept with a bit more of the traditional Zelda aspects in this game. It's probably my biggest gripe with it.
I like that the iconic tunic isn't easily available. It was bold to break away from a lot of the Zelda conventions. I just miss them, I was just caught off guard with how much they actually changed.

I was caught in the rain last night halfway up a cliff and had to wait there until the rain stopped, and it got me thinking why this mechanic seems so out of place. I realized that it's the only environmental hazard that cannot be directly overcome by elixirs, gear, etc. Everything else, lightning, heat, cold, etc. all can be circumvented but not climbing in the rain. It would have been the perfect opportunity to have a special set of sticky armor or for chuchu jelly to be used in a cooking recipe, but as is it's just a hard obstacle that can really screw you over. Such a shame since all the other weather effects are so well done.

How were you able to
pass the purple stuff ?

Shooting the eye at the base drops a metal plank. I used that as a bridge to get past the goop.

I nominate Hudson for best new Zelda character!

That honor goes to Kass.

There's multiple ways to deal with it. The cheap way is to
find shelter then build a fire to pass the time with flint and wood
.

I know that was came out of the guide leak before release, but is there seriously 900? That seems way to absurd, I mean there can't be enough land mass to have all those puzzles. Is there a way to locate them with the sensor?

Yes 900. And if you pay attention / know where to look there's actually a korok puzzle every 40 square meter or so. People saying the map is empty or finishing with sub 20 seeds are really not paying attention or actually exploring lol

this isnt how you Use spoiler tags. Fix this shit.

Lol right?

Reminds me of the Simpsons episode Secrets of a Successful Marriage.

Homer: I do have a story about two other young marrieds. Now, the wife of this couple had an interesting quirk in the bedroom. It seems she goes wild with desire if her husband nibbles on her elbow.
Mrs. Krabappel: We need names.
Homer: Well, er, let's just call them, uh, "Mr. X" and "Mrs. Y." So anyway, Mr. X would say, "Marge, if this doesn't get your motor running, my name isn't Homer J. Simpson."

I'm guessing there's some kind of tutorial you stumble across that tells you this at some point but thank you
I found some dudes that kind of teach you and sell you shields but they are located in an area not beginner friendly.

lol

I was just watching a Let's Play the other day and I chuckled when after you received the paraglider the person spent a while looking for it in the menu not knowing what to do or how to equip it. sa;d

That makes sense. I completed the major areas, so I guess I got an easier boss.

I was thinking of starting a second playthrough, but I don't want to lose my save game. Do I need to create a separate account, or will the game still recognize that I've beaten it once? Do I even need to keep my save file? I was thinking that maybe HARD mode requires you to complete it once?

I'm so excited to play more. If you've seen me post in the controversial gaming opinion thread, you know that I think Zelda 1 is the best Zelda and that the disappointments in the series started with LTTP (it was too easy and the secrets were telegraphed too much for me, although I still think its a masterpiece) and that most Zeldas were a step down from there. I still think highly of most of the entries, even my least favorite ones (Twilight Princess). The open nature of this game feels closest to what I want, and although I think its too soon to proclaim it to be my favorite of all time, I think its my favorite of all time. Video game, not just Zelda game. Dark Souls 2011-2017. RIP.

Edit: I reserve the right to reconsider, once I've had some time to think rationally.

I think I have something like 80 at the moment after going around the world to activate all the beacons and while I'm not actively looking for them, that still seems crazy that I missed over 90% of them. Sure some of them were less conspicuous than others but I'm struggling to see where some could be hidden in otherwise featureless areas like the deserts or plains.

I had it happen to me once at midnight and then during the middle of day. It didn't happen again after that though.

Yeah it stopped doing it for me now thankfully, weird glitch though, I had Blood Moons 5 times in 10 minutes at every point of day.

Guys I'm getting bored with this game ... feels more like a chore. Now I played Horizon and after 4 hrs got bored with that too. I guess I expected TLOU kind of game play. It's my first Zelda game. I'm trying to find a perspective going into this game because it's such a huge success. The art is beautiful. I would appritiate some perspective from someone that is a huge fan of the game and played all of Zelda.

Quite a number of them are just under rocks in an otherwise empty place.

Create a separate account, unfortunately.

My guess is that they'll allow second save files once the expansion pass starts to come out. Right now, it is pretty ridiculous that there's a limit of 1 save file per account.

I was super disappointed to find this out.
MS makes the final encounter a lot simpler, but I thought they'd finally have a way to make the legendary sword feel really premium, due to the durability mechanic. But no, they threw away that opportunity and let it be a mediocre weapon that breaks every few minutes, unless you're in the castle.

Shield is weird too. It has such high durability, it might as well not break. I guess that helps validate the town sidequest, but I still just really wish it couldn't break at all.

I know :(

This is game is brilliant! I just successfully finished
Eventide
Island. This was easily the scariest part of the game for me so far! Such a surprise! At the very end I was so scared to confront the final enemies, I simply just stood there for about 10 Minutes on a higher edge and tried to kill them with bombs, when suddendly a storm came up and a lightning strike heard my prayers! It stroke nearby the scariest enemy and lit it on fire for me! With those down I was prepared to take on the rest and finally managed to survive! This was one of the purest adventures I had in videogames overall! Amazing!

Wow. What a shitty, shitty mechanic.

I just unlocked my first memory, and so I've finally gotten to hear Zelda's VA for an extended dialogue line. I don't know what the general consensus on her VA is now (I know pre release it was all about the Japanese voice) but I think her English voice is REALLY BAD. Like I'm fine with basically all the other voiced characters, everyone else sound good to me, but her's in particular I just hate. If only for her voice I wish I could change the language (without having to change the fucking system language and text in the game too).

How are you playing the game? How many shrines have you done? How many side quests? How many kooks found? Do you talk to the NPCs?

If you expected a story driven linear experience like TLOU I don't know why you would play any open world game.

If you like exploring a huge world and just accidentally stumbling into cool things wherever you go, BotW is for you.

Someone being a Zelda veteran isn't gonna help much here because BotW is such a drastic departure from the norms of the series.

So I'm not far into the game. A friend came with a tip to where to find a memory, but when I went there, there was no memory there. So do you have to start a quest for them to show up?

Quite a number of them are just under rocks in an otherwise empty place.

The Koroks I found
under rocks are usually pretty obvious, like on top of a mountain, end of a path, on a tree, generally places where getting there is a challenge unto itself. I've been recently trying to find bugs and lizards under rocks for upgrading gear and I have yet to find a korok in a seemingly random place.
.

Not that I've seen. I had to ask too.

There is. You just have to talk to everyone
Believe it was south of the Wetland Stable, there is a couple dudes that started a Shield Surfing club and will sell you shields to surf and tell you about a legendary Shield Surfer (who I haven't found yet)

Odd question. I'm playing on the Switch and all of a sudden when I draw my bow it goes into a first person view and it shows the HP of my enemies. I did purchase the Season pass and I don't remember it doing this before that. Either way I don't like this and was wondering if there is a setting that anyone knows of that will take away the HP numbers and keep the third person view while drawing my bow.

Thanks!

Don't know if you guys noticed, but 4 more reviews have been added to metacritic.

I've never gotten a first person view, but the HP numbers are probably showing up because you're wearing the Champion Tunic. That's what that thing does.
