Odd question. I'm playing on the Switch and all of a sudden when I draw my bow it goes into a first person view and it shows the HP of my enemies. I did purchase the Season pass and I don't remember it doing this before that. Either way I don't like this and was wondering if there is a setting that anyone knows of that will take away the HP numbers and keep the third person view while drawing my bow.

Thanks!

Maybe it's bow specific? I got a phrenic bow a while back which does a zoom-in first person thingy.

Damn. I haven't played a game for this many hours at a time in ages. Exploring has never been this much fun. The world is crafted in a such a way that you are able to see points of interest subtly. I love looking around and thinking "Oh yeah, definitely a Korok there.".

Check your armour and bow.
The Champion's Tunic will let you see enemy HP numbers and different bows have additional aspects, like going into first person to shoot farther or shooting three arrows at once.

Don't know if you guys noticed, but 4 more reviews have been added to metacritic.

Jim Sterling is playing botw too, and he has said in his newest video that it will not be a glowing review. From his podcast and recent videos it seems like it will socre under horizons of 95, i wonder if it will be the first under 90.

On topic, Just finished the main story, and goddamn is the music in hyrule castle great. Specially considering otherwise the soundtrack isnt really memorable.

I've never gotten a first person view, but the HP numbers are probably showing up because you're wearing the Champion Tunic. That's what that thing does.

Thanks that's good to know. And it was because of the bow that it was taking me into 1st person. Thanks both for the quick response.

SHOCKING NEWS

I just unlocked my first memory, and so I've finally gotten to hear Zelda's VA for an extended dialogue line. I don't know what the general consensus on her VA is now (I know pre release it was all about the Japanese voice) but I think her English voice is REALLY BAD. Like I'm fine with basically all the other voiced characters, everyone else sound good to me, but her's in particular I just hate. If only for her voice I wish I could change the language (without having to change the fucking system language and text in the game too).

I think all the English VA is terrible, but yeah, Zelda is probably one of the worst. It's really bad considering I love her design in this game, but the voice ruins every scene she's in.

They need to go back to no VA in the next game or at least let me play in Japanese, since all the little grunts/noises they've made in past games are very clearly from Japanese VA's. Link's iconic HYAAAAH is the most Japanese VA thing ever.

How are you playing the game? How many shrines have you done? How many side quests? How many kooks found? Do you talk to the NPCs?
I got the 4 orbs the old man asked for. He turned into a king and told me the story. He said Zelda needed my help, she is fighting alone. I went to the other side of the mountain. This old lady inside a house told me a story too.. she said Zelda needs my help but before I go help her I have to go in 4 different places. Now I'm in the desert no idea what I'm doing and I can't get far because it's hot and I die. I made some food supposed to help me thru the desert but it only lasts 3 minutes.
I have done 8 shrines so far.

There is. You just have to talk to everyone
Believe it was south of the Wetland Stable, there is a couple dudes that started a Shield Surfing club and will sell you shields to surf and tell you about a legendary Shield Surfer (who I haven't found yet)
Trust me, I am. The world is just so huge.

I'd hardly be surprised if Jim scores it lower than the rest just so he can be the only one who has, and if he does then I'm afraid he loses all integrity of being a games reviewer. Somebody who thrives off attention, controversy and clicks, does not make a professional game journalist.

Sounds like you have not even started yet...Lol.. that could sum up my first 3 hours with it.

Go somewhere else then, the world is almost completely open right after you can leave the first area. The game soft-gates progression through obstacles like extreme weather, so if you don't have the ability to mitigate that, you need to get it from somewhere else. Climb high places and just look for things that are interesting rather than focusing on the main quest.

Quite the assessment to make before even reading whatever hypothetical review he'd release :lol

Thank you.
How do I know what to combine to last thru say .. the desert or the cold? Also transportation is hard my horse won't go into the desert. What can I use?
Edit: guys thanks for the help.

What materials are safe to sell then? Need to get 100 rupees >.>

I don't think there is any true vendor trash items purely for getting more rupees, seemingly everything is used in some way or another. Just sell whatever you have a ton of at the moment. If you have a ton of something, you can probably get more easily.

Thank you.

Item descriptions will tell you if a food item will give you a special buff when cooked.

Please tell me this is sarcasm.

He said he liked the game and that the score will likely be great.

Ok this
korok trial
where you have to sneak is infuriating.
It takes so long and there are multiple parts where you can mess up. Like there's one part you have to stay far away otherwise he'll spot you, and now I don't know what to do when the wolf appears. Kill the wolf?

God I hate sections like this that drag out and there's no checkpoint in between. Only really annoying bit of the game so far.

This really isn't how Jim Sterling thinks. He'll give the game the score he thinks it deserves, regardless of whether it's higher or lower than anyone else.

I don't really personally care for his reviews. He's not nearly as insightful about games as he is about game drama and corporate fuckery, and he and I have very different tastes, but he's certainly entitled to have a different opinion about the games mechanics and score it lower than I would without being accused of click-baiting or trying to be a contrarian.

If we all had the same opinions, things would be boring.

I think that my only complaint with the game so far is that the
Blood Moon
effect only kicks after 11:00 p.m.

The whole thing would be cool if it remained hellish since the moment it raises but I guess it could get annoying if it happens commonly like to that one gaffer who said it happened to him a lot for a while.

What the hell triggers bloodmoons?

I get a bloodmoon every other night, is it because I kill so much stuff super fast? Or is it dependent on Shrines?

Funny you asked, because I just encountered him the second time around. He was at the woodlands staple.

I think this is a bad attitude to have.

The game has its faults and you can make valid complaints against the game that, so far, I haven't seen many reviewers make. Eventually there are going to be people less beholden to the hype of release and the game's faults are going to become more apparent. Do not be surprised if and when critics or personalities start organizing arguments against the game's resounding perfect scores.

I say this as somebody who doesn't watch Jim Sterling and is thoroughly and tragically addicted to Breath of the Wild.

Few questions does doing the
Memory Quest Line
change anything in dialogue?
As in can I talk to people without having answers where I have no clue who some is or whats going on?

Also
are wizzrobes not very aggressive? I've killed two types without much trouble and one of my encounters it actually waved at me before I attacked it, felt kind of bad honestly. Lol.

I totally agree, and I have respected Jim's reviews in the past (although why he liked the turd that was Watch Dogs 2 so much is beyond me) but with Zelda he's found himself in a very interesting position here as it's now one of the more critically acclaimed games of all time, so it will be interesting to see what he does with his score.

You know what this game makes me miss? The Song of Storms.

Nothing beats lighting a torch for a puzzle only for it to start raining immediately. Then you're just waiting for it to stop.

Finally finished up Lord of the Flies, random Island Edition.

Damn was that hard. But fun.

Getting the last Sphere into it's home was a pain. I didn't want to risk screwing up a Stasis hit, so I chopped down a bunch of nearby palms, then walked the Sphere across and tossed it in. Worked pretty well but was really nerve wracking.

You could have just used the ice rune :)

I'm on the first Divine Beast and trying not to look up guides or walkthroughs or anything of that sort so I don't spoil, but am I missing something super fucking obvious on the second terminal
(the ball and the two counterweights on the other side of the cog)
. Anyone able to nudge me in the right direction?

I've noticed the shrines are extremely tiny. Like, one dungeon room with 1-2 simple traversal puzzles per shrine tiny.

Are all shrines like this? Are the dungeons meatier in terms of content?

Does anyone know where the secret chest in the Sah Dahaj Shrine
"Power of Fire"
is? I got the regular chest that has a knight's bow in it but when I beat the shrine it said I missed a chest.

Some shrines are bigger (I went through one that felt similar in length to the ice cavern in OoT). Dungeons are much longer (although short compared to other games in the series).

My favourite aspect of the game is korok related
when you find them under a stone, drop the stone back on their head, the nose they make is adorable

Does anyone know if the guide comes with a map of all the shrines/korok seeds?

Yes to both. There's no real guide to korok seeds, just a map showing where they are and what type of puzzle it is to get them.

Turning on Pro Mode and not even taking another glance at where the main quest objectives are has to be the best decision I've made in this game so far. Knowing that whilst exploring I will eventually be able to find, by myself, such major story content fills me with such excitement. (Main Quest Spoilers)
I've finished the Zora questline, and it's pretty obvious where the Gorons and the Gerudo are (though not exactly, of course); but I honestly don't have a clue where the Rito will be and I love that.

I'm not gonna read much of this thread, because I'm still very early in the story (up to the second town you go to) and horribly afraid of spoilers, so I'm just dropping by to say WOW. THIS GAME. It's absolutely shocking what an evolution (or even revolution) this game is for this series, Nintendo games in general, and open world games overall. Past Zelda games almost look laughable in comparison, with their tiny worlds and outdated tech. I'm constantly amazed at simple stuff like being able to enter villages, as well as the houses in them, completely seamlessly, in a damn Zelda game. And even compared to other open world games, this just feels more OPEN. There are literally no limits on where you can go. See that mountain? You can ACTUALLY climb it, and then soar down through the air into the valley below. Open air gameplay, indeed. And even with this amazing massive openness, the game retains the stellar gameplay and attention to detail this series is known for. You've got the cozy villages, the quirky characters, better battle mechanics than ever, cooking, upgradeable equipment, and so much more.

It's utterly amazing to see how Nintendo seems to have increased their ambition tenfold, if not hundredfold, over anything they've ever attempted before. I'm just blown away, and I know I've seem basically nothing yet.
