Beat the game...I mean Ganon hehe.

Question aout Ganon:

Was the only way to do the spider's second phase shieldparry? As someone who rarely did it that was tough but I managed three times in a row before long lol. Also fuck horses in this game. I went on foot for its final form.

Overall a fantastic game.

Manages to complete 56 Shrines and 93 Koroks. Completion percentage is 22.08% after 58 hours and 19 minutes. Everything so so hidden. O_O

But I want to 100%...the Shrines so I'll try my best. Know the location of 8 more but thats it lol.

Gyro works with Switch Pro Controller, but not with Wii U Pro.

I have the Switch Pro Controller. Is there a setting I have to turn on?

Also sometimes it doesnt detect when I'm moving the right joy stick, anybody run into this kind of wonkiness? I just got it today and had thought it had all the same features

How do you get Kilton
to sell more gear? At the moment he only has a mop, the monster elixir and the Bokoblin Mask for sale.

That's weird. Double check in the options that you have gyro turned on? Don't know why it wouldn't work.

Got to the Zora Domain and really starting to get into it more now. The whole trek up was pretty fun but finally getting into the town was awesome. I love all the NPCs that you meet there with the older zoras
blaming you for what happened with Ganon
and the younger ones
thanking you for giving them a future
. I loved the conversation between Muzu and Sidon where Muzu gets immediately shot down if
you're wearing the Zora armor already.
The memory with
Mipha and Link sitting on the divine beaat
was pretty touching as well.

I fixed it.

I think I know what went wrong.

When I first got the controller, I hooked it up to the Switch Dock, with out the Switch in it. So it never paired with the switch with a wired connection.

Instead I later turned the switch on and with the pro controller wireless, I paired it. Which worked but things were a little janky... wasn't detecting inputs quite right, no motion controls, just now I turned it all off, plugged in the Pro Controller and turned it on and then in Zelda motion controlls were working, seems smoother now.

So I guess the USB connection pairs it better or something.

OH MY GOD
CURSE THE BLOOD MOON

I finished clearing out a ton of guardians to be able to easily explore hyrule castle town and as soon as I say "alright now I can look around" the blood moon rises

Is there anything to the small little pillars that are sorta like torches but have a glowing orange gumdrop on top? They seem suspiciously placed around the (desert spoiler area)
Seven Warriors shrine
but don't interact with anything.

Beated my first Guardian...

Such and intense fight! Managed to do it with Stasis, Ice Arrows and a Knight Sword + Guardian Axe.

... and then another one popped out of nowhere and also managed to beat him.

I need to lay down a bit.

Race rank? Aight.

Champions: Gerudo > Rito > Goron >>>>> Zora

Companions: Zora > Rito > Gerudo >>>>> Goron

Dungeons: Zora > Rito > Gerudo > Goron

Side quests: Gorons > Zoras > Rito > Gerudo

Dungeon lead up sequences: Gerudo > Rito > Zora > Goron

You know what? There's a lot of ways to rank them, so I'll hold off a bit. I'll just say that Gorons have always been my favorite so it kinda sucks that they have the easiest dungeon and worst partner. Of the champions I liked all except for Mipha, mostly because of the voice direction(the actress is fine). Rito's seem to be the most balanced ones in this game.

Speaking of voice acting: to me the voice acting itself is fine. Nothing great but not terrible. Most of the problem I see stems from the direction as the cut scenes were obviously made for a japanese voice cast, which explains why characters jump into sentences quickly to catch up to ad libbing.

Also, is it me or did Revali sound exactly like Travis Touchdown? I kept expecting him to call Link a fuckhead.

Should I be keeping gems like ruby/opal/diamond or they should just be sold?

They exist to be sold, but here's a tip:

There's a Gerudo in Goron city who'll overpay for ore as long as you have ten of them. She spawns after taking down the divine beast of that region.

i can't believe that on top of everything, this game even has majora's mask-style NPC sidequests and schedules. the characters are well written and you often can progress little stories with them, fleshing their characters out and learning more. they've really done everything with this game. it's hard to fathom.

if i had to estimate i've played around 30hrs, i've yet to do a dungeon, i've only explored about 25% of the map (east to the south essentially, i'm exploring slowly and in every corner!), ~35 shrines and over 60 seeds, but it's looking like it's going to be my favourite Zelda game yet. And OoT is my favourite game of all time sooo.... I'm going to finish the game completely before passing judgement, but yeah, Nintendo seem to have themselves a masterpiece here.

i've never liked an open world game before either. that was my biggest skepticism with this game before playing, and now I feel stupid for every worrying. of course Nintendo wouldn't make it like everyone else, this is their own thing.

last night i spent like 2-3hrs in one area of the map, and it was such a great experience. an extremely dense forest, sacred ruins, thunderstorms, waterfalls, secrets everywhere. i just kept discovering new things and it kept outdoing itself in how cool it was. witnessing a massive
dragon (what a sight over that bridge!) and taking a scale
, harnessing lighting by
throwing a conductive spear and revealing a shrine
, etc etc. I could go on but the game is just like this constantly, where ever I go on the map. Never a dull moment. Sometimes it's quiet and peaceful but it's never dull.

i'm probably going to progress with the first dungeon soon, and considering the only lead i've stumbled across is a
Zora needing my help
, I guess that's going to be my first destination.

crazy talk here i know, but i kind of don't wanna progress anything because there's only ever one first time i can experience the greatest game i've ever played :P thankfully the game is so massive and dense, doubt i'll be done with it anytime soon.

Should I be keeping gems like ruby/opal/diamond or they should just be sold?

Sell them if you need money. You can use them for specific gear but they're pretty bad and outclassed by other gear. Also, it's pretty trivial to get tons of ores if you know where to look.

Should I be keeping gems like ruby/opal/diamond or they should just be sold?

Sell a few if you lack funds, except probably diamonds since they are so rare. I only have like 5 diamonds when just about every gem I have is at least at 20.

There are certain areas in the world where rare minerals drop high. You might want to mark them on your map when you find them so you can regularly collect gems.

So I tried the gambling exploit/cheese in Lurelin...

On one hand, money is hard to come by unless I sell stuff. Which I don't want to do because craftings mats are useful to me.

On the other, I only made 5k in 40 minutes. It was tedious as hell, so I probably won't do it anymore.

How on earth do you beat this target shooting mini-game in Farron? It's hard enough trying to shoot targets while on horseback, but they don't give you anywhere near enough time and you still have to control the horse while trying to shoot targets scattered about. I've done it like 15 times now and I can only get to 16 at most.

Time is my main issue. You have to gallop like a madman to reach enough targets, but then it makes it near impossibe to aim correctly that fast. Is there a trick I'm missing to beat this?

I finally saved up enough money to
buy a house
and finally got rid of some of the weapons i kept around solely for aesthetic purposes (i loved what another user in this thread did with regards to elemental weapons.

Are there REALLY 900 Korok seeds?? Ive played around 50 hours and found less than 1/10th. I just cant see where they'd be hiding a whole other 800+ seeds from me!!

9Or1ojr.jpg
and that's just Hyrule field. (the different colors are the different kinds of hidden seed, btw. Like 'stone circle' 'shooting range' 'follow the flower' etc.)

There's a reason the "Korok seed that you already found" map markers don't show until you zoom all the way into the map. Thing would be crammed...

Man, doing the Gerudo mission of
The Yiga Clan
and I swear I'm never getting through the second room.

The second room with the
four guards
? I just climbed the ladder at the beginning and then simply climbed to the roof,
distracting the last one with a banana.

I think I saw the area where the Master Sword is while I was exploring Death Mountain. I planned on heading to the desert once I was done on the mountain but I think I'll take a little detour and see fi I'm right.

Yes. I haven;t even set foot in western regions of Hyrule (or the region just north of the castle) and I have over 200 of them. Koroks are everywhere.

Finished the game. Cleared all four Divine Beasts, got the Master Sword, 100% shrine completion, about 120 Korok Seeds, all memories retrieved, 57 side quests cleared.

Amazing game, deserves every bit of praise it's getting. Completion percentage was about 32%.

either they set up the parental controls straight away (the app doesn't show your playtime prior to pairing the app to your Switch)
or their activity log already shows data.

how is this level of completion only 32%? i guess the remaining seeds and hyrule compendium or something? doesn't seem like they should be worth so much as to be the remaining 68%

Got Zelda's horse and doing the old man's quest where he gives you Zeldas saddle makes the thing super tame it seems
Good horse

Also first time offering an apple to a statue and lighting destroys the tree right next to it as i drops
Seems like they remember all the apples i stole from previous statues

I went through this same sequence tonight. It was magical. I started it as a detour to the main mission to the east. I didn't get to take anything that I can remember, but yeah. Incredible. I'm in awe.

I guess the rest of it is mostly Korok Seeds and Compendium?

Can you continue to play afterwards or do you need to reload a save?

Are the rewards for the
dragon
quests supposed to be underwhelming? I figured two of them out all by myself and all I got were
lousy shrines with breaking weapons I found elsewhere at least once anyway.

To be clear, the quests themselves were fun :)
