Does lighting all the lanterns in Hateno Village blue do anything? I thought lighting them all would open a shrine but nothing happened.

The blue flames makes the area look cooler though.

I was thinking about doing this and then I got distracted

I might do it if someone says it does do something

Just some nitpicks

a. The enemies you fight in the dungeon drop weapons. It shouldn't be an issue.

b. While not great, the game will show you recipes for food items you have in your inventory if you select them.

A. That makes sense.

B. Once you eat the food though, there's no way for you to pull up the recipe, right?

I was secretly hoping for
Impa
to be waifu... but turns out... she is not like that at all.

Luckily Paya does the job well. Lol

No, it doesn't do anything. There a like two routes that you can follow and light lantern on the way in case you lose the flame.

For fun I tried to light them from one lantern to another using arrows without moving. That was tricky, but it's possible.

So I went back to Kakariko and did a few more sidequests. I think new stuff happens at all villages every time you beat a dungeon right?

Kakariko NPC Sidequest Spoilers:

1. I got Lasli
fireflies and told her she was pretty! Hope she is less depressed now.
LOL at how mad she got when I
questioned her about night time activities
. Nintendo snuck quite a few innuendos in this game.

2. I love how Dorian's story kept progressing.
I was surprised to learn that he was a former Yiga and they killed his wife for betraying the clan. I'm happy he was able to redeem himself by helping me stop the Yiga thief that stole Impa's heirloom. This family's story is tragic and I hope things look up for them going forward.

3. I would have never thought that the Cucco guy's wife is
the arrow store lady
. LMAO. I hope they make up. The cuccos arent worth it man.

4. An old woman is having an affair with
carrots
.

How is that even possible? Almost every enemy drops something so unless you're avoiding every confrontation or deliberately not picking up things from ground. I don't even...

Or take advantage of a fact that you can pick up arrows enemies shoot at you. Hell you can grind for special arrows too if conditions are right. For example i found a spot where goblins use bomb arrows so i took advantage of a fact that it was raining and got 30+ arrows from there. Marked the spot on the map for later use of course.
.

I'm gonna need that bomb arrow farm spot sir.

The New Yorker - THE DAZZLING REINVENTION OF ZELDA

Then, midway through production, Satoru Iwata, Miyamoto's friend and mentor and Nintendo's well-loved president, died, suddenly and unexpectedly. "When he passed away, there were moments we'd come up with an idea which we'd be excited to talk to Iwata about," Fujibayashi told me. "Then we'd remember he was no longer here. Miyamoto told me it was the same for him. He'd come up with an idea at the weekend and would feel excited to speak to Iwata about it on Monday, only to remember. The sadness runs deep. This is approaching spiritual talk, but we had the sense that he was watching over our work. That became a source of motivation, a drive for us to improve and be better.

:'(

oh :'(

I wish I could turn off the Blood Moon cutscene though. I press X like mad but I still hear Zelda's godawful voice.

Maybe I'm just playing wrong, but I am not a fan of BotW's combat. I don't think it's actually that well designed. I've played Souls games, beaten Bloodborne on NG+, etc., and yet I'm still getting my ass handed to me at outside Yiga Clan Hideout by a pack of 3-4 agents. And I'm yet to "figure out" how to beat them. After 10-12 attempts of making basically no progress, I gave up and moved on.
I'm doing my second dungeon and I haven't died once since before the first dungeon. The Souls comparisons are unsubstantiated.

A. That makes sense.

B. Once you eat the food though, there's no way for you to pull up the recipe, right?

Yeah, lol, thats why i said its not great. But you can screencap them.

Hope this isn't a spoiler, but it doesn't really matter because the best recipe is just one durian or one radish lol.

Unrelated - (korok seed location spoiler) Hahahah,
I can't believe it took me all this time to realize I need to drop apples into the empty receptacle at the statue's feet!

So I just saw a picture of what the outfit you get for beating all the shrines looks like, and goddamn it looks terrible. Are those... shorts?

Press X then +, you should only see a black screen for a couple of seconds.

To be able to allow my son to play without worrying he's going to break all my weapons then have an auto save overwrite all my spots. It would be fine if there was unlimited but there's only 5 and they get used up quick. Alternative was to make him his own game but then he gets confused when he doesn't have my cool gear.

Was about to say create a different profile for your son, it's what I did, but then saw the part about gear. How old is he? My kid just turned 4 but he's pretty good at using a controller. He's young enough to just like dicking around the plateau. But if he's old enough to care about loot can you help him progress his own game? Since you don't care about the progress he makes you're not really losing any time in yours.

Whew, just won my first fight against a white Lynel. Damn are those things tough. So much HP and they hit so hard. Seen a lot of White enemies in general since I beat Ganon, getting showered with rare gems lol.

You know if you make an account, you can disable them and remove them from your score?

Eventually, we hope to use these enable/disable toggles to determine official inclusion.

Edit: I personally agree with a lot of GBAtemp's review, especially this section:

You aren't suppose to be able to beat them there until you are fairly powerful.

You're a better man than me. I just found a
centaur guy on a bluff somewhere and he fucking ruined me multiple times
. I bailed.

Yeah he's 7, old enough to care about loot and progress but not old enough to do anything about it, haha. It's fine though, I just help him out all the time. It's pretty fun havig two games going honestly.

My link looks awesome.

I really dislike how easy is it to despawn creatures, i have had so many animals just vanish that i have either tried to capture or hunt just to vanish right in front of me.

The answer can be found in artwork for Link for the first 3 Zelda games.

I get that, but it seems like they've been trying to make it look more modern with the latest 3D games like SS and TP. This seems like kind of a major step backwards, and implies (to me) that they really did see it as just a dumb bonus and not really part of the story. It's just a little aggravating for me since I'm a stickler for tradition, and having it be kind of an afterthought or throwaway prize that doesn't even suit the game's style is a bit lame.

This seems like they did this on purpose, since the idea is that you need a certain stealth rating to really be able to catch certain things. You could also just use a hasty elixir too.

The recipe thing is something I think we all worried about, but eventually you learn how to cook on your own without recipes. Like, if you cook 5 meats at once it makes a nice heal which is obvious because they stack. If you throw in a random thing, the item tells you what it will do like enhance speed or something.

Sure there are special recipes but I have 2 pages of food that can heal 10 or more hearts without using a guide. Just use common sense and you can get by.

You're missing the point that this game is heavily influenced by the very first game. Having a final set that is a reinvention of the original one is an homage, or even an easter egg, if you want.

I wish there was an armor that gives a permanent speed boost. Like the bunny hood in Majora's Mask. Yes, there's the ninja set bonus but I hate walking around at night because of the Stalfos shenanigans.

All that I'm saying is that having a recipe book feels like a feature that should've been included in the game. If you take a look at a game like Dragon Quest IX, it does this perfectly by telling you what you have and what you could make out of it from all of the other ingredients in your inventory.

You should edit out spoilers complaining about that. Didn't quote so it goes unnoticed. It is a surprise for people when they complete them all.

Is this the kind of enemies as the Silver Bokoblin I read about before? Do they show up after you beat the game?

There is one particular shrine I can recall where not having an arrow would mean you are basically stuck and can't do anything, unless you try to exploit the mechanics of the game and skip the puzzle so that you end up in the final room of the shrine.

It's one of the shrines with blue flame puzzle.

Beside being a bit hard to get too I had to return later cause I had no arrows...but the puzzle stays on what you did last (lucky) they don't reset once you get out (didn't know that till now). So you can return once you have the proper equipment and just continue where you got stuck.

So this is fun. Chuck a metallic box at an enemy encampment then shoot it with a lightning arrow for a fun time!

Also, you can use magnesis to use the box as a shield against ranged dudes, place it in front of you, and then, if you have a thunder weapon or rod just whack the box to damage and stun them, giving you time to rush in and take them down.

I feel like I'm learning new stuff every time I play.

Man, then I've been really shitty about gaining power. I'm ~10-15 hours in at this point (just arrived at the Zora kingdom). I've killed two bosses but felt like I was cheesing both (one I just shot with arrows until he died, the other was a rock monster that felt like a joke).

It's just weird for me to find encounters that are either trivially easy or 1-shot me. I don't feel like there's any in-between, and that's frustrating.

Silver/white/black are the most powerful variations of enemies. They are fortunately not as common as other enemies. And no need to finish the game to find some of them.

I would be okay with it if the animals would do the same as squirrels and some other animals who either climb trees to disappear, fly away or dig down, it's just frustrating to be on the edge of catching the pray for it to just vanish in thin air.

Again, I get that, but I'd have preferred if that was an easter egg on top of a legit (and good looking) traditional tunic that actually tied into the story.

Alright.

Weapon degradation sucks in my opinion. I'm soooooo afraid of breaking the good stuff!

Learn to get over it. I have about 15 weapons that are all good now, but that came with a lot of breaking. The good news is, if you have a great weapon and are killing great enemies, they usually drop a decent weapon.

To my knowledge I didn't encounter any Silver enemies before beating the game. White Lynel might be different though, he drops the exact same things as the Blue and Red ones. Silver enemies drop a few rare gams.

Somebody said that the official guide says the more powerful versions of enemies appear as you defeat more of that enemy. So if you kill lots of Moblins, the Moblins you find will more frequently be the more powerful versions.

Does this effect silver enemies?

Am I a dumbass or is there anything more to combat. Can I dodge roll and party or is it simply just jumping swinging and walking sideways?

You can parry with a shield and do special dodges that can lead into a special move. Go fight a lynel, if you can't win it means you don't get it.
