PS4 Update 4.5 is coming tomorrow, details inside

Stoked for the ability to manage cloud save data from the game tile. I move saves between my PS4's pretty frequently and having to navigate through the menus is a pain in the ass.

I'm installing some games to my external, but is there any way to see if it's 100% installed? Not just playable, but fully installed?

Change the chat to private or public AFTER it was created?
Hell yeah!

If it is a disc title, you will hear the drive stop working when it's fully installed. There is also a progress icon on the games tile. If transferring from internal to external, or vice versa, you can't do anything else during the process which is again accompanied by a percentage progress bar and a time remaining description.

Someone help out a person with the SSD situation, if I got that 250gb SSD, that would go in the ps4 correct? And then just transfer the games you want to play on it for better load times?

I get limited time to play games anymore so load times are big deal for me.

You mean the Samsung one? It's an external drive so you'd plug it in.

oh, hello there, youtube account that won't stay signed in on my PS4. it's been a while.

why the hell does this keep happening? then i get the official 4.5 fw today (been on the beta) and Horizon suddenly has a broken icon on my home screen and it says corrupt data, with the only option available to eject the disc.

i put it back in and it seems fine for now, but this has me a little worried. anyone else getting issues like these?

You just sit and listen for the disc drive to finish spinning, that's honestly it man. My External has a flashing indicator when it's in use too, so can just keep an eye there if you have one like that,.

Was really hoping Boost Mode would fix The Golf Club.

Nope. It's slightly smoother when the ball is in the air but now there's massive slowdown during the swing. And the screen tearing is still there. Fucking Unity.

Haven't had the chance to look too much into this, but if I'm understanding this right:

Let's say I get an 6TB external HDD (or some other larger capacity non-SSD drive) for my games that I don't play currently but want installed.

I can then get a internal SSD to put into the PS4 Pro (256GB, since IIRC that's the minimum the PS4 requires?) and move my current rotation games from the external (which I believe it installs to when you hook up an external drive to the PS4 now?) to the internal and get the SSD speed benefits for those games, but still have the storage benefits of the external for my games library as a whole?

A bit disappointed about Just Cause 3. Boost mode definitely help but the chaotic scene still runs quite shitty. I can't believe Avalanche will release even a goty edition. This port it's an unbearable shame on console.

I had the same corrupted icon with Yakuza 0. Ejected the disc and everything works fine now. 😂

Oh, doh. Thanks for pointing that out. Looks like I look for different solution.

Was going to buy a 5tb external, and have a small SSD installed in ps4 to help with load times. Just not sure if that works.

Known 4.5 bug. Don't know why they didn't fix it. Maybe we whined too much and very few people reported it. Happened to me last night.

That'd work to and that's what I'm planning right now. It makes sense to use an SSD as the boot drive and an external HDD for storage.

You can actually choose where you want your games to install to by default - system drive or extended storage.

Same issue with destiny. Still seemed to run OK.

The YouTube app is trash. I get that every other week or month and videos stop playing because YouTube isn't available right now or some bollocks.

I just bought NMS and if had a broken icon on the download page but it seemed to fix itself.

The manual says they are USB 3.1 Gen 1 which is essentially a rebranded 3.0 with no additional speed benefits.

I don't know why they made it so confusing when naming the spec.

Weird.

so, safe to assume only the back port on the Pro is the superspeed 3.1 and best one for USB-SSDs?

My new hard drive is hopefully coming today(From UPS) just wanted to be sure that I do NOT have to format the drive on my PC first..just plug it into the back of the console(PS4 PRO) and let the console format the drive for me..also wanted to know do I have to plug in the hard drive while the console is turned OFF, then turn it on and the console will recognize it or does it not matter..just wondering since with my XBOX ONE S I was told to have the console turned off before plugging it in..thanks :-)

Okay thanks guys. Guess the broken icon is just a bug with the update *being applied* and doesn't actually break anything.

Still annoyed with YouTube though. I literally spend a few hours a night on it and it's easier to use than switching back and forth between my PS4 and Chromecast. Hope it gets resolved soon.

Boost mode is fantastic (after some initial tests). Should've been available from day one. Dead Rising 2 is now locked at 60fps in outdoor areas. Before 4.5 you had drops to 45-50fps in those areas.

It doesn't format it automatically (well it didn't for me in the beta or here) - you have to go into devices in settings and initialise it in there (under USB Storage)

I just plugged mine in when it was on the menus. Worked fine.

UI for notifications is still inconsistent between main notifications, downloads, and uploads. differences in tile/text sizes (rectangular/squares), images used for the tiles, and number of rows.

Is there seriously no "Clear All" in the notifications redesign? Who thought that was a good idea??

yeah i don't see any point in keeping a long ass notifications history outside of downloads and uploads.

Awesome thanks for the info..and there is no need for me to format the hard drive on my PC first(I know these hard drives come with annoying bloatware) for the screenshots..I took a few screenshots of some nice images from neogaf earlier(For some weird reason it took multiple photos of the same image) so once I update, I just go to that screenshot and set it as background and the other images I Can delete?

So...no USB hub is supported for using an external HDD? I'm currently using the rear USB port on the PS4 Pro for PSVR and like that I don't have any cords sticking out of the front of the console.

I'd like to add some more storage in the future but having to decide what to keep plugged in is another hassle (much like the no-HDR passthrough problem with the PSVR breakout box that I'm already having to deal with).

It was probably the same engineer who decided it wasn't worth including a 'check-ALL-apps-for-updates' button, forcing us to individually query each and every title on our growing software lists.

nothing worse than a bunch of old ass notifications that I can't delete... old friend requests, old invites to communities (even communities that have since been delted) so much that I can't remove... ugh.

I have stuff dating back to march of 2015 that seems permanently stuck there options menu doesn't do jack.

lol how this design was even approved is baffling. This is a gigantic step backwards in every way.

When appearing offline, is the icon next to your name broken for anyone else?

Instead of the red circle with an X in it or whatever it usually is, it's just like a bank white box now.

Edit: ahhh it's a cell phone
