I can't get my amiibo to scan either in tablet mode or on my Pro controller...

I have amiibo turned on. I have the rune selected. I have the yellow pulsing circle indicating it can be summoned there. But nothing happens. The amiibo never scans.

What am I doing wrong?

Holding it down long enough?

Don't they just appear out of thin air without any need of talking afterwards?

Later on after a certain event in
gerudo desert
they just go ballistic on your ass and start appearing all over out of the blue.

I got swarmed by 3 at once while I was clearing out a moblin camp during a thunderstorm. It got really intense really fast.

I decided to pick up the WiiU version, since I won't be picking up the switch for a long time. My god the frame rate is atrocious. Someone please tell me it gets better...

Were you putting the amiibo in the right place? It's on the right joystick in table mode. Not sure about the pro controller.

I defeated my first
Lynel
! Took me a couple of fairies and
mipha's grace
, but I got him down so hopefully the next one isn't too hard.

Any easy way to stock up on normal arrows? The road to
Zora's Domain
seems to be well known, but are there other easy ways too?

Anyone whose watched the Dunkey video wanna say how spoilery it is? His Resident Evil 7 one literally shows the final boss so I don't exactly trust him that much.
Holy shit that was hilarious xD And educational! I had no idea you could put Octorock balloons on things to make them float, although that might be because I've never attempted to use 'em I guess lol.

His flying raft and the chicken attack were the best parts.

Did you put your switch on sleep mode without closing the game beforehand?
I have not had the blood moon glitch since I started closing the game before putting the console into sleep mode.

That could be it. One weird bug. It's mainly the loading time that annoys me when it's happens.

Seriously, who the hell designed this Sheikah Sensor? Why does it take into account distance, direction, camera direction AND verticality? I'm in a canyon right now and I have literally no goddamn clue where the shrine could be. This is seriously hurting my enjoyment of the game right now because I know there's a shrine here but have no idea where.

Wait until you use the sensor to find chests, literally makes you want to tear your hair out

It doesn't take verticality and camera direction into account. It's another puzzle and I find it fun.

Some shrines are deliberately hidden.

Where are you, exactly? This happened to me a few times as well. I find it best to leave the area and just approach from a completely different direction.

Shiekah armor
or
Guardian armor
?

Or
house
lol

It seems that way. I jump and I get "closer" to the shrine, and I'm in an area with lots of minor verticality so half the time nothing's happening. The fact that nothing happens when you aren't moving makes things so much harder as well.

Just east of Mount Drena which itself is east of Hyrule Forest. The big canyon seperating the grasslands and the ice area.

Damn this game is pretty good guys. Just got my Switch today and started playing it - currently finished my third shrine. This is my second Zelda game (after ALBW) but I prefer how this starts out - it seems completely disconnected and it's own story. Also not really and handholding, I love it. This game is going to consume me.

I'm not surprised you're liking it! it even gets better from where you are.

Yo, that Polygon post about farming arrows was really helpful.

After you completed the 'temple' in the
Zora
region, go to the road that follows the winding river towards the
Zora hometown
. Like each of those rather weak enemies there will drop 5-10 arrows.

The Sheikah armor is good, and you can get it super early on. It's helpful when you want or need to sneak through an enemy camp.

The Guardian armor...
well, that's just a matter of whether you're bad at fighting Guardians, honestly. By the time you can actually wear it, you're likely to have fought many Guardians to get the necessary crafting materials, so the resistance it provides is frankly nominal at that point.

Actually it does take verticality into account. When there was a shrine above and in front of me, when I jumped while walking to it the signal varied from max to minimum.

Just did the
Yiga Hideout
, I actually thought it was pretty fun. Some of you guys made it sound like it was going to be really annoying but it was pretty short and sweet for me. The boss was very Zant like lol.

So are there any weapons in this where you never have to worry about durability, repairs, or wait periods? I looked into the
Master Sword
, but I've heard about the time limit when you try to use it on regular enemies. Rather not engage with the system so I'm hoping there's something

What does this Sheikah sensor want?! I do one thing, it starts beeping like mad, I do the exact same thing and, probably as some practical joke by Aonuma himself, it does fuckall. Why didn't just have it be a goddamned sonar that detects proximity on the x and z-axis only? Why does it only do anything when you're moving? What even is it supposed to be doing?

I think it just points the direction the shrine is, not how close you are.

Man I am absolutely LOVING the fact that Nintendo took the plunge into voice acting... but dammit all, probably 30+ hours in and Zelda's voice still hasn't grown on me :/

I've loved every other voice but Zelda's just doesn't sound right. I felt this way back when the Switch presentation trailer premiered and I really hoped it would grow on me, but she just sounds... off. Maybe I just don't know much about British people but she sounds like a 20-30 year old to me. Definitely hurts the illusion that she is supposed to be 16/17.

The VO is bad all around but Zelda is absolutely terrible. The fake high-pitched "girly" voice, the bad bad bad British accent, the awkward as hell first-take-sounding reads, it's just awful across the board. Her VO ruins every scene she's in. Damn shame.

Yeah it tells you the direction of the shrine. It doesn't say how close or whether it's above or below.

The faster you are moving towards your target, the stronger the signal. It's a "hotter, colder" system.

You guys are weird, sensor is a godsend for those fucking fireproof lizards.

I use mine for everything! It's such an under appreciated upgrade. (though I wish it had a different sound, the beep boop sound it uses gets seriously grating)

Your
dragon
hunting steps worked like a charm by the way.

I was working on figuring out
Fandraal's but all I have so far is that he shows up by the Eldin Leviathan at 10:30 PM.

Oh hell yea! I'm glad they helped out!

Btw Kinsei gave me awesome tips for the last one

I found a way to farm
Dinraal
parts in order to upgrade the chamipons tunic. Head to the Eldin Great Skeleton and start a campfire on top of it's had. Wait until morning and then
Dinraal
will fly straight at you. Keep repeating this until you have the parts you need.

Are you in Dueling Peaks?

Yeah it tells you the direction of the shrine. It doesn't say how close or whether it's above or below.

OK, so why is it telling me five different directions at once at five different altitudes? I seriously have no clue what "direction" the Shrine is in here, none whatsoever. Why not just do it by where your camera is pointing, by having it only activate when moving I'm not even sure what it's based on at all. EDIT: Seriously, I have NO clue where this shrine could POSSIBLY be; I've been looking for upwards of half an hour now!

Are you in Dueling Peaks?

Nah, in a similar area though. Went into more details on the last page:

Just east of Mount Drena which itself is east of Hyrule Forest. The big canyon seperating the grasslands and the ice area.

When I first got the sensor and found there was no way to turn it off, I literally said out loud "Oh, god. Is this just the game now?" Rough.

But thanks for the new tip. That's my current after work plan.

Me experiencing the actual breath of the wild

What I wanted to ask though, can I actually view the photos I took with the Sheikah Slate 'photo mode' in full? Or even export them? I wish there was more of a WWHD picto-box selfie mode. ): I wanna take more pics with animals and koroks without having to work the in-game camera so much.

It might be velocity in the right direction rather than verticality. Either way it's not really a big factor, you can stand on top of a mountaintop with the shrine right below you at the bottom and you still get near max signals.

Huh? You can turn it off. They tell you that in the game when you get it. Press Y in the map.

I just spent forever trying to complete the shrine quest, 'Sign of the Shadow', by shooting an arrow from the tower onto the mound below while it was lit up. I finally got it down and nothing happened so I looked up a guide a found out that you are supposed to shoot the sun from the mound while it is lit up. Lol >_>

I just can't figure out how to
get the ball into the last hole in the Mirro Shaz
trial. Its for the bonus item not for the main trial itself, and its a damn pain in the ass.
