I thought I was done with the game but I need to find the
sandworm
someone told me about and I need to check what's at that damn spiral on the map that I many times made a mental note to visit but never did.

And that was the final Divine Beast and the final memory...

Two things...

(Gerudo Boss)
Thunderblight Ganon does NOT mess around. How are you even supposed to beat him if you go here first? I am so going to look forward to all-dungeons speedruns of this game, I need to see someone just dominate him.

(Memory quest, big plot spoilers)
There is a thirteenth memory and it's been right in front of you the whole time. Not sure if you're supposed to photograph the painting first, but I did and it showed up in the cutscene. I really hoped we'd get to see what beat Link 100 years ago, and it's actually a little surprising that it wasn't Ganon himself. Just all the Guardians. At the same time. Of course, I went Guardian hunting after seeing that. You know, for sport.

So... I could probably face Ganon as soon as I resupply. 16 hearts, 27 minutes of +Def x3 food. Ran out of +Hearts food, though. Need to make more. but I have a sidequest to finish up first...
Tarrey Town won't build itself
.

I do need to find a reliable place to harvest +Hearts ingredients. Hearty Radhishes or the fish equivalent.

final boss: meh

I played through the game, so he started the fight with half health... ok, sure, whatever. As for the actual fight, it wasn't any harder than any other boss or major test of strength, and I never tried to brute force a Guardian since I found out about parrying. The end of the fight is just parrying 4 times and then slashing him as much as you can. That's like what the first boss in the game should have been.

and then I was like "...was that it? that better not be it."
it wasn't!

now I'm on a fucking horse, which controls terribly, and just have to do a slightly more frustrating, not harder, I didn't get hit once. a slightly more frustrating version of those pre-divine beast "shoot the thing with an arrow" things.

THAT was it? THAT was calamity ganon? that's what this whole game was leading up to?
seriously weak

I agree that Beast Ganon wasn't a fitting last phase of the last boss. The music is excellent though. I guess it could have been more epic if Ganon spoke or something.

the following will surely just be me late to the party, but: WTF this game.

*spoiler of the Genzo kind*

WTFWTFWTF there is a huge fucking electrical dragon just going around the world.

So, I'm done but found the percentage indicator on the map being 27%.

Is there a way to have the Sheikah Sensor track Korok seeds to make it at least somewhat easier?

Some of them can be cheesed. I did the torch one using fire arrows.

Thanks. Haven't encountered that one yet but I'll keep the idea in mind.

Helps to know which one. Most are easy besides the maze IMO.

All of them. The gyroscope controls don't work for me. I can't fathom why they didn't include the option to control with the stick, especially since they did so for regular aiming. The physics don't react as I expect them to, and no matter whether I slow or go fast, I simply cannot get any rotating piece to go in the direction I want.

The two most egregious culprits: the rotating ball maze in Hateno, where I manage to get the ball to the end of the maze after 10+ attempts but simply cannot get it to "hop" to the ramp below (physics not doing what I expect them to do), and a shrine near the Foothill Stable with a rotating platform, three balls and three switches - this one, I simply cannot do.

Put you controller on a flat surface before making any big moves. Stops it going on all over the place

Tried that, it's not a matter of slow movements, it's a matter of the physics not reacting as I expect them to. I abhor physics based puzzle in games generally, and gyroscope controls. Mix the two, and it's a recipe for disaster. I'm looking for ways to bypass those puzzles, as I simply won't get them right using this control scheme.

I found it easier to do them with just the right joycon by itself.

Thanks, that was one of the things I tried that allowed me to pass one of the shrines, but the ball/rotating platforms still give me endless grief.

I could simply avoid them, but I've met enough that I could get a heart piece, and it's getting beyond frustrating that this content is locked out simply because of gimmicky controls - I wish joystick controls could be patched in down the line, as it seems a basic accessibility functionality, but I'm well aware it's a pipe dream at this point. Too bad, I really like the rest of the game, but this might actually be enough to turn me off it entirely if I know I'll be locked out of potentially critical progression because of an unwanted and unwarranted control scheme.

EDIT: looking up further answers regarding the issue and others encountering the same problems, the overall recommended method beyond "suck it up" seems to be to go with the right joycon as IdreamofHIME suggests, and attempt to cheat the physics whenever we can (for the rotating maze, by putting it on the side, for instance). I'll try that, though it still won't fix the three balls/three switch shrine.

I don't think so....yet.

I have a feeling that's the "new map feature" coming with the first DLC pack.

40 hours in, 2 dungeons down. I still absolutely love the game. It's the sequel to Majora I always wanted. I've been exploring the areas I've visited quite thoroughly so far, but I think I'll go uncover the whole map and visit all villages next for a change.

Exploring is the best, and puzzles are abundant. I love finding Koroks and completing Shrine quests especially. I don't mind the dungeons being small. They are fun to figure out and especially they are different to the old norm, which is nice.

Snow wolves drop it easily. Just pick it up immediately or it will get frozen.

Buffaloes and antlers drop them too, just less frequently.

From what I've seen, the drop rate is better from moose than wolves.

Oh I thought it was a 100% drop from some animals, that explains me not getting gourmet meat when I killed a few wolves: I just need to try again. I'll try with snow wolves and moose.

I still need to hunt down a few photo memories, but I already approached Hyrule Castle yesterday and I expected
that the heroes would deploy the beasts when you were ready to enter, killing the guardians outside. Because it's still crawling with them when you approach! Plus, when you miss a parry your shield is done. I was stunned when I was losing one knight shield after another, did a reload. I'm also thinking about approaching from another side, front seems loaded with guardians.

Yep, pretty flaccid.

Has anyone found the great
frostblade in the hebra region
? I've found both
great flameblade (eldin skeleton) and the great thunderblade (middle of cuho mountain)
, but can't seem to find the last one.

there's one just hanging out in Hyrule Castle. i think it was in the caves leading to the basement, but I'm not 100%

From my own trek to Hyrule Castle for that exact purpose, I found approaching from the rear worked well.
It has some of those flying Guardians, but no turrets until you start getting close to the main tower.

When I'm going after Ganon, I'll take the same route. Maybe with a +Speed buff running to move quicker in the dangerous spots.

I did notice an NPC talked about a secret
east passage.
I'm kind of curious where that could be, and if you can basically skip most of the castle with it.

Does anyone have any advice for the gyroscope puzzles? They're single-handedly destroying my enjoyment of the game. Any thoughts apart from "they're not necessary, move on" is appreciated!
Shake the ball off the board initially, forcing a new ball to be dropped down. You will have tilted the board to the corner where the ball will come down from and it'll fall right into the last area that you need the ball to be in.

Two questions about encyclopedia...

* Can you update the images, when the picture is bad?
* Is there missable (I guess you have to take pictures of bosses? But beside this?) I would hate a Metroid Prime situation, especially since you can't replay the game on your account without deleting the save :/

yes you can update pictures
no, you don't have to (can't) log bosses or other missable things. all enemies, creatures, plants, and weapons aren't missable

I still got 5 towers to activate and I made a little plan for myself for which ones to do first, then I noticed a huge emptyness in temple icons on my map in certain areas ive been too, so I decided to just go to these areas to see whats up. the game keeps surprising me with the things Ive found in these places. The game is huge! Obviously its designed for multiple playtroughs.

I somehow missed how to do it, I'll look into it, thanks...

Nice... I'm relieved. Usually, Nintendo avoid missable parts in Zeldas, but you never know (and I still don't know how they expect you to get the last heart piece in Awakening after you gave back the flying chicken)

Dear God Japanese sounds so much nicer. (Zora cutscene spoiler)

https://youtu.be/8MmxNNG2WS8

Eh, the delivery isn't much better than it is in English. My Japanese isn't great, but I can tell it's pretty much on-par with the English dub in regards to performance.

I suppose folks who aren't familiar with the language might find it less egregious. Please keep in mind I'm not singling you out on that; I get that this is a matter of taste in the end.

Only 15 shrines missing, I fear it's gonna take a longtime to find them

I'm sure somebody will make a checklist-style guide that hides the ones you've done.

I have been playing games since 1989 and honestly, this is the first time I'm overwhelmed playing a game. The game is so fucking huge that it gives me headaches because I want to explore everything and with almost zero hand holding is almost impossible to do. With witcher 3 you at least get some help by the game.

Yes you can.

The assistant at the research lab will fill in gaps for rupees.

Quick question...

So are amiibo gifts just random? I have the 8-bit link and so far I just get 1 chest and some barrels. Every day the chest has arrows in it, the barrels have rupees and apples. I was expecting some of the 8-bit exclusive items.

Sidequest question re Kass

ive completed all the sidequests in his journal. Is there a way of triggering a return to Rita Village, or is there still more to be done with him?

A yes or no will do. Thanks. :)

Also, Kass is y favourite character in this game probably. Not because of his writing or anything, though that's fine, but because he's the closest thing I have to a companion in this otherwise kind of lonely game. (That's not a bad thing.) I always like finding him, it means there's a cool puzzle to be solved and his accordion music. Love it.

Are diamonds used for anything? I think I read somewhere that some of the gems were used for elemental crafting? As I've been holding on to all my gems.

Armor upgrades. I wish I didnt sell as many as I did.

Too soon man, still seething.

It is like everyone in that town wants to screw you over.

One guy asks you to kill 2 guardians and gives you 20 rupees. I wanted to cut his head off.

Nobody said the reward had to be bigger than the down payment!

Im abandoning it. I shouldve realized I didn't belong when my name wasn't Linkson.

Yes they are used in crafting buuuuuuuut in order to get to the point they are used you need
10k rupees.

The lines are a little bit different though. Instead of "Even back then." she says "うれしかった" (I was happy.) And the final line she phrases it like a question.

In this cutscene (zora dungeon spoilers), she says something like "But... it seems we can never return to our fun days long ago." In English, she says "Thank you. For I am now allowed by this freedom... to be with you once again."

Japanese makes it sound more dramatic. :lol

One shrine needs the blood moon to be activated. Stood there for two hours in real time time and nothing lol
You cab make a fire with wood and flint (and then just flint to restart) and rest until night on the thing.
It'll activate right away on the night of the blood moon, no need to wait.

Also the blood moon appears to just be the new moon. So just look at the moon one night to the next and see if it's getting smaller. If so, you're nearly there.

lt's sort of pointless to compare the two as OoT has become synonymous with the 2D to 3D paradigm change and will forever remain one of the most important games of all time because of that. BotW in comparison is just a refinement of the current dominant style in the industry. Lore wise OoT also established most of the rules of the Zelda universe BotW still follows.

l think the best way to describe this game is it feels like what my imagination conjured when l played OoT as a kid 20 years ago. lt's the same world and adventure but opened up and filled with new wonders you suspected existed somewhere in Hyrule but couldn't experience back then because of hardware limitations.

Thank you for this. These are my thoughts but couldn't put them into words!
