Talked to the bestbuy manager and target employee and they said they are getting calls all day for the switch and wished they had more stock.
I guess they start seeing a significant profit after 10?
It's been a weekSeems like Nintendo is dropping the ball with restocks. They haven't shipped any more to retailers since before launch.

Well the ones that retailers had in the back were sitting there for a couple of weeks before launch. They haven't shipped more to retailers. It should be a constant stream coming in weekly if their production lines are up and running continuously.
The units in stores for launch were manufactured months ago. The mid april estimation for deliveries is peculiar.
Yep. In theory all of the units were done a while ago and then just shipped out when launch time came.
It's been way more than a week in terms of when the initial stock was produced so you'd think Nintendo would have a other couple weeks worth of production done and ready to go.
Obviously the Nov stuff is basically bullshit, and even that April timeframe could be a guess. Bigger issue is retailers just don't know and Nintendo has said jack shit on this front.
They a happy to tout launch sales, but mums the word on future stock.
Quick question guys, will I buy able to be a U.S. charger and copy of Zelda at say Best Buy?
Now the struggle to get refunded my shipping cost continues~
The Walmart app and BrickSeek both say that my local walmart has stock (9, according to brick seek) and an employee checked the app on her phone too then went to look for it and the manager came back saying that the app is lying and that they have none.
I call bullshit. I hate Walmart and wish target got some in stock
It's not their system not updating, it's the fact that those are layaway/pre-orders which Walmart is obligated to hold until April 1st unless the buyer cancels themselves. Basically, the only reason to believe that walmart has stock at this point is if you're watching the values and see them increase from previous, meaning they got new stock in from shipment/returns. Unfortunately I couldn't find any kind of history functionality in brickseek and I'm too lazy to write things down manually. So yeah, there's no evil conspiracy and walmart employees aren't necessarily incompetent or lazy, they just can't sell you stock that has been preordered/layaway'd and they have an absurdly long hold policy.
Edit: The real douchebags in this situation are not walmart employees, they're the people who preordered half a dozen systems and are letting them sit at retailers to see if they become rare enough to go through the effort of flipping. And if you look around GAF/reddit/etc you'll see a huge amount of people openly admitting to doing so in the same threads where everyone else is struggling to find one to purchase.

They had plenty of accessories though, excluding the pro controller.
(1) As far as a Best Buy local retailer, you are much more likely to find a universal power plug/adapter (a cheap plug adapter that changes the EU plug shape to match the NA plug shape) than to find an official Nintendo AC adapter. Either one should work to get power to your device. You would be better off buying the plug adapter or the AC adapter from Amazon than from local retailers.
(2) BotW for Switch seems decently in stock at Best Buy retail locations, but of course it will depend on your locale. If you have Amazon prime you can buy it for $48 now, so I would suggest that rather than trying to find it at local retail if possible. Even if you can't find it at local retail anywhere you can buy it on the eshop.
(3) Good luck on the shipping refund. Amazon has been overwhelmingly a positive customer service experience for me over a 14 year relationship spending 5-10K+ per year, but trying to get them to compensate me directly for shipping/delivery delays has been by far the least successful effort over that time period. The most consistent win you're likely to get from Amazon for a botched delivery date is an extension of your amazon prime membership, and that isn't relevant for a one-time purchase from another region. Amazon.es doesn't really have any incentive to make you joyously happy since you're not a regular customer and it's very unlikely you'll ever spend money there again, so if I were you I wouldn't expect too much. That being said, if you're the kind of person with the fortitude to raise a digital ruckus for long enough then who knows.

Is this Wii all over again?

So thirty million plus more than fifty million is definitely a Wii situation.Depends.
As a home console, it will be more like a N64, console with little third party support with insane exclusives that is a perfect companion to a Playstiation home console, that will be a moderate success for nintendo.
As a handheld, it will be higher than 3DS but lower than DS, assuming it fully replaces 3DS, (including similar price tags and software library)
It's sold ut in every store in Sweden more or less. Except the real rural ones (last time i checked, Probably gone now though). I think there might be some online but even that's a lottery.
Anyone know what the stock status is in Tokyo/Kyoto? I'll be visiting in April and was wondering if I should pick one up from there. The games are region free so it doesn't matter where I buy it right? Or will the OS be in Japanese only?

I bet I could walk to a store here in Portugal and pick up one if I had the money), I should check that out of curiosity when I go grocery shopping monday.
I remember when I bought the WiiU, peeps online were saying it was sold out everywhere and I just walked into the place and they had a ton and I was the only one buying one >_>
Thats not a slight on the WiiU, just not many people here rush to buy videogame systems I guess, what with the shit economy thats been dragging for years (and which now I suffer from aswell lol)

It seems like the best course of action in the US is to just randomly walk into stores? April isn't that far off, but at the same time I don't trust Nintendo when it comes to stocking.
I really doubt it will be like that. I'd be surprised if the Switch + Zelda, or just the Switch in general could match length of time and demand that the Wii hysteria created.
I think a bit of this situation is that Nintendo wasn't prepared for this Zelda hype that happened in the days after launch.
But I expect the Switch to be widely available by the time Mario Kart 8 Deluxe releases in April, if not a few weeks before then.

I'm sorry but that seems really unacceptable. The Switch launched at the beginning of March. Retailers shouldn't have to wait a month and a half to get more stock in.
Did Nintendo only produce enough for launch and then sit around and wait to see how it would go before starting to produce more? Ridiculous.
It also solves their biggest issue--dividing their dev teams.
Wasn't trying to imply it's acceptable.
