Holy shit.

I'm god knows how many hours in and I found another town, I thought I found every town
including lurelin village

But no, I just found one in the
akkala region

If its what I think it is, I discovered it on the way to a shrine. I was gliding when something caught my eye and lo and behold.

Why is there a mountain designed around the female reproduction system complete with blast something up the tunnel for a reward?

Lolol

I also checked it out when i was gliding to a shrine from a tower, I knew the place had to be special in some way, but i didn't expect it to be a town, god I love exploring in this game

What weapons do you guys ensure you keep on you at all times?

For me it's
1. Deku Leaf
2. Torch
3. Goron Drill shaft

The first 2 are pretty obvious as they provide a ton of utiltiy for doing thngs, but the goron drill shafts you find all over the place on death mountain enemies are actually one of the most durable weapons I have ever seen and they're all over the place. They're super handy to have around in case you need to stasis launch something or break a ton of ore on the side of a mountain.

real quick question So I bought my house and I'm in the middle of upgrading it but I was curious...

will those guys get off my lawn once I max it out? I'm thankful for the deal honestly but I really would like to not have anyone around my chillpad. :p

The amount of people who take personal affront to reviews worry me. It is a review by a critic. Not everyone will like what you like etc. Ignore it and move forward. Them giving it a low review will not impact how you enjoy the game. I didn't like Majoras Mask at all when it first released and I bet if I was a reviewer and not a kid then, I would have probably given it a 6/10. I played it again older and came to appreciate the time mechanic and what they actually achieved with the gameplay.
When the game had zero scores under 90 and two reviews come in today at 70 and 60, yeah it's pure click bait and preety bullshit. It seems Jim gave his to deliberately get it talked about ("hey it's over a week later than everyone, it's score is different and it drops the average a full point!") and as shown, his review history wouldn peg this game at a 9+ easily.

Yeah.

How are you guys finding the controls with the Joycons, together and split?

Thinking of buying a Switch, but not sure if a Pro controller would be worth it just for Zelda alone.

Personally, I feel the joy-cons are the worst part in this game for me. The sticks are way too easy to press in, so I constantly start crouching or use the sheikah slate zoom in, making Link a sitting duck.

I am playing Zelda in handheld mode for the first time this evening. I have to say, it is a really good experience. The improved frame rate in some problem areas makes a difference. Didn't think that I would use handheld mode at all, but I really appreciate the portability right now while being on call for a hospital clinic where nothing seems to happen this evening. A perfect opportunity to grind for resources!

I think the main issue is that people have played the game, where as usually they haven't and won't for at least a couple more days. The games been out over a week and people have been able to form their own opinions. Then the review becomes a discussion, and we're allowed to disagree and show examples.

I do agree that it really shouldn't be a topic in this thread.

None actually. Assigning an inventory slot to anything in this game instantly starts to feel cumbersome and detracts from the fun imo

you could make this post about people taking a personal affront to criticism of a review

as long as someone sticks to criticizing the review itself and the points that it brings up it's all fair game imo

I love Jim, his reviews are typically well articulated and bring up good points. I didn't get that from this review. almost seemed like he was strapped for time or something the way it was written and how hollow the points he made were. also, and maybe this is just a personal pet peeve, but I didn't like how he brought up the review consensus in his review. that seemed weird to me. review the game, not the reviews of the game. I'm not saying he was clearly biased or anything but that remark didn't come off well for me.

I have never had that problem at all, as of yet I have not accidentally clicked in the sticks at all, and I would say the Joy Cons are comfortable both split and when in portable mode or with the grip. You won't need a pro controller, I'd say

What do people use Korok Leaves for? I know they fuel rafts, but the raft is never faster than just making cryonis flatforms. I haven't used a raft once and, thus, I've never used a Korok Leaf.

I need stuff to not burn up, and none of the food I cook is strong enough at heat resistance.

I've been exploring as much of Eldin as I can, but can't find anything like how I found the and bought the cold resistant cloths.

Nothing to the level you're expecting probably, but
shrines can be hidden and there are also mazes
.

There's at least a few, but they're not distinct / instanced like entering a shrine, it's just part of the overworld map. The
Forgotten Temple
is short but pretty cool, especially if you found it by approaching from the East.

thanks. i definitely noticed after a dozen or so hours that the shrines make the world feel a bit like a theme park without any natural caves to discover. i'll have to wait and see how i feel when i've been to every region

Welp the game just tried to give me one of each weapon type for each element. So like 9 weapons. I had to leave all of them behind lmao.

I could easily se someone liking Triforce Heroes more. TH and BotW are so radically different that one could easily like the former more than the latter.

Maybe but we talk about a professional journalist here. Someone who says of himself he knows his shit. And that means, even if the dont like some parts of the game, he needs to see the pilish, the amount of details and perfectly crafted gameplay elements.
Opinions dont matter in that regard. You cant make a spoon and say it is a knife because that is your opninion. If you want to be professional you have to act like one and can't hide always behind the “opinion“-wall.

Again I think opinions in reviews are necessaryand in the end they seperate a good journalists from a bad one. But you still need to apreciate good work from devs. And Jim clearly doesnt do that this time. I read the review and thought sometimes he played a different game or cant handle some parts my 6yo is capable of without any help.

The raft is way faster than cryonis. You can also use Korok leaves to propel the flying platforms you make with balloons.

Reviews are a reflection of how enjoyable a game was to the reviewer and that's it. Of course they don;t need to inflate their score cause the game is polished.

If your raft is slower than Cryonis, you're doing something wrong. The trick is not to spam Y but rathe tap it once and then wait until the horizontal attack finishes and press Y again so that all you're doing is horizontal attacks

Is there a good way to go about beating Lynels? Particular weapons that are good? Potions? I've gotten the general pattern down of the one I'm fighting. Lots of dodging (damn
fireballs
) and flurry rushes. Should likely leave it alone as I got what I need from the area already. However I hate that he's still living. That and I'm hoping it drops its weapon and shield. My issue right now is I'm just not doing enough damage (best weapons I have at the moment are a two silver longswords and a giant boomerang. Both two handed weapons. So it becomes a very drawn out fight to the point I'm running through all the food I have and ingredients. I'm dealing with the one on top of
Zora's Domain right now. I have the shock arrows from the area after sneaking around
and have left but would like to go back and take this thing down.

They looked a lot different.

Lynel-1.png

When I first found (and was killed) by one I though "whoa, a centaur! It's super strong too! Never expected to find one in a Zelda game... Wait a minute. Holy shit LTTP!!!"

Then I remembered it was one of the few enemies that hit hard and took more than a single slash to kill. BotW version is amazing.

Heat resistance is different from catching fire. You need fireproof elixers.

I just found a shrine
encased in ice
how do I get in?

Eh...
burn it
? :p

btw I completed one of my favorite shrine quests so far today. Maybe only select spoiler if you've done most because it's awesome figuring out on your own. It's the one
on top of the snowy mountain with a lone cedar tree. I was looking NW and expected a literal bird to appear, only to see the shape after minutes of staring lol. And then when I started gliding I noticed the orange glint in the 'stomach', I was like wat.
This is my favorite next to the Rito Ducktales kids.

I'm at 80ish shrines and it's moments like this that make me want to continue hunting for all of them. There are a few I'm finding harder to figure out,
like the pillar song in Rito village and shooting a demon statue in the eye. There's no location clue in the latter, and the only 'evil' statue' in the vicinity of the source is that small one in Hateno that lets you respec.

Metacritic score for BOTW is now 97 with Jim Sterling's & Slant Magazine's review. Who knew two people had the power to change it. I'm slightly depressed about it TBH. I knew Jim would be the skeptical one, Escapist Zero Punctuation is probably next to make the next low score. Still regardless, I guess his review on the game is well-explained.

It's not the low scores I worried about TBH, it's how others will react to a one point decrease and how they'll use it to diss Zelda. :/

I need some help on a shrine quest.

The Crowned Beast. From the lyrics of the song, I'm guessing I have to mount a Lynel somewhere around Rabia Plain, but I can't find it. Is that what I need to do? If so, where is it?

Crowd control, quick elemental damage against certain enemies. I also keep a fire rod in case i forget to cook cold elixir.

Gotcha.

Why??
I think you need some perspective

Game needs a disclaimer like:

Objects in map are farther than they appear.

Thought My goal was just over a hill. Didnt see the giant gulf in between after I got to the top lol

Gotcha.

Hint:
The antlers of a buck are made of bone

Solution:
Mount a buck and take it to the platform beside Kass.
