TEST OF STRENGTH SHRINES RESET WITH A BLOODMOON, EVEN IF THEY ARE BLUE AND BEATEN YOU CAN STILL COME BACK IN AND FIGHT THE ENEMY WITHIN

so i'm kind of lost here...been playing for a while now, most of it exploring, looking for shrines, and not doing quest stuff

i've had the locked memories quest, with all of the pictures, and I'm not quite sure where to go from there. I think I'm still fairly "low leveled" for lack of a better term, so I'm not sure which areas are safe for me to be going to, or even where to head to progress the story lol

any help here would be appreciated

also, what's the best way to fight the guardians, and similar enemies? they always wreck me haha

lmk if any of this should be in spoilers

If you don't have Ancient Arrows I found the next best thing was to use Shock Arrows on them. It interrupts their laser beam charging and then stuns them for a few seconds. Run in and equip a strong weapon and bash them from behind. They will be confused in the way that they will have lost their targeting on you, so you can get a good number of hits before they lock back onto you. Swap to your Bow + Shock Arrows and repeat the cycle until they're dead.

Why do you worry about any of these things? Do you not have more important issues in your life?

That sounds harsh but it's a genuine question. Worry about your job, bills, relationship, family, friends... the way you talk about a number associated to a video game is truly baffling.

'Slightly depressed' and 'worried about how others will react it'... you need some perspective on what you're talking about.

It's not a life-affecting problem man.

I was just worried somewhat for a few minutes, but I'm ok now.

just gaming in flight

AQ7wTeu.jpg

flight attendant asked if that was the new gameboy

i nodded in delight

Lol I just took a flight too and the flight attendant also asked me about it but he knew what it was. He asked "you got it already?" And i was like "yeah, day one baby!"

This is the first time taking it out of the house on a trip and i am very happy with the battery life. I played for am hour and a half first and it got to 50%. Then i charged at a bar for 30 min tops and it got to 78%. With that i could play another hour and a half or so with the battery going down to 30% or so. Now I'm back to charging at home and in one hour is back at 86%.

Pretty good if you ask me!

So when is a good time to go after the
Master Sword
?

I've cleared about 56 shrines and I've mostly upgraded my stamina, but if I can go after the sword I'll just re-assign

Gets hit by a full powered guardian with regular armor near the castle......loses at most 3 hearts

Gets hit by a random lizard in the wild......1 hit KO with 14 hearts

Yes, that really makes fucking sense Nintendo. Why do you think I don't bother fighting anything anymore unless I need mats

It took me a moment to realize the Rito Village theme was
a remix of Dragon Roost Island from Wind Waker.

There is a part of Korok Forest theme that sounds so familiar but haven't been able to place it. I think there are a lot of good themes in this game. Always been masters at making good music for the series.

Have you unlocked any of the memories? If you unlock one you should go back to Impa with it, she gives you general directions for the 4 dungeons. Most people seem to start with the dungeon closest to Kakariko Village, it's a good start.

Eh what for real? I know the modest test of strength has a guardian with a an axe+ I need for the weapon connoisseur quest. Trying it out tonight.

Explored Eldin a bit today.

Although I have issues with the music, the call back to the original Zelda Death Mountain (Dungeon 9) was a cool nod.

thanks guys

i have not collected any of the memories yet, i guess I'll head to kakariko and see if i can find the one near there.

Yeah that's the only way to get more guardian++ weapons. Somebody told me there are eight major tests of strength but I only found seven so far.

speaking of that quest, it's currently asking me for some kind of 'double bow' or 'doubleshot bow' (i play the game in german, so i dont know the exact name.

I haven't encountered a weapon of that name yet - any pointers where to find such a bow?

I have been farming moderate and major Tests of Strength all weekend (those and the Talus's that drop diamonds).
Thought people already knew it re-spawns all enemies.
I rub my hands when stable guy tells me there is going to be a blood moon.
Get my hammer and go to the shrine that spawns 3 weak guardians for the swords (which are used as fodder weapons for the moderate which are fodder for major).
I have 18 weapon slots and it still isn't enough. I need more 60 damage axes.

Did the Rito dungeon this weekend and had a good time figuring it out. Look forward to the other 3.
Also the power up is amazing for exploring. People need to do this over zora first. It's to good if you are a Korok hunter.

Good to know now i can farm those things. Want to get good at parrying those beams.

Oh, yeah. This is how I farm for weapons and parts lol

I'm not sure if it was my eyes or something but I was investigating the area around the major test of strength and noticed the shrine seemed to glow more blue than usual. I decided to check it out just in case and what do you know, the thing pops out again. Ended up getting all three of its weapons again :3

Yiga clan assassins carry them.

yeah that's the duplex bow. Yiga clan members drop that.

I imagine that's referring to the duplex bow. Yiga archers drop them.

Do you guys remember that itch you had where you wanted to climb every building in every video game after playing the first assassin's creed? It's worse after this game.

What the fuck, gamechanger. I need one more an Ancient Core to upgrade my Sheikah tablet and one of the shrines had an enemy that dropped one.

BTW is there an infinite / renewable source for weapons like the electric sword, fire spear, etc.?

(all item names in post not accurate, playing in Spanish).

ah, ok, perfect, thanks. I'm literally minutes away from going there, doing the Gerudo ancient beast last.

While you're there, hold on to a windcleaver that you also may find. That's another one for the connoisseur. The kid has exotic tastes... and keeps on going

How disappointed were you when your 90 minutes of Zelda were over? Or was it a short flight?
it was a short 50 minute flight :)
Just make sure you don't spill your juice
yeah it didnt spill. it was a smooth plane ride without turbulence.

ive been a bit disappointed with the battery life but a power bank makes it all worth it. i dont see myself gaming for long extended periods except for international flights and even those have power outlets.

Great to know! I knew that the overworld weapons respawned with the bloodmoon, really nice that the shrine weapons do as well.

Virtually all weapons respawn at bloodmoon. Mark the good weapon drop places on your map.

I couldn't at the time because some nob head was DDOSing his site at the time

Reading now btw, complaints are normal for people to have, their own views & differences of opinion are great.

But....

Metacritic Profile page for The Jimquisition

http://www.metacritic.com/publication/the-jimquisition?filter=games&page=4

Sitting just above Saints Row: Gat out of Hell on page 5

it's fairly obvious by the other games he gave 80 and below to that he's either being petty or has changed his review standards greatly in the past week....

Anyway, done is done, I'm sure there will be a web episode about it to look forward to... ;)
It's silly comparing it to previous games though.

Reviews are very much a time and place piece of work. It's your opinions and feelings at the time.

A reviewer isn't going to look at every past review they've ever done, what score they gave it and then assign it a score based on all of that information. Jim has most likely done loads of reviews in his life time, between The Jimquisition, The Escapist and Destructoid.

Honestly this is why I consider scores to be fairly useless personally, but it's a standard everyone uses, as flawed as the system is.

Slant's review has some questionable points
"But it can take a player hours to leave the Great Plateau, Breath of the Wild‘s introductory area, and actually experience the massive world beyond its seemingly mile-high walls. You cannot leave the plateau until you follow the orders of a mysterious old man, and as you explore this area, ransacking the same type of Moblin camp can get old fast."
I'm not quite sure what they're trying to point out as a negative here, it has a tutorial area?

I would suppose any weapon area that the weapon can be found outside of a chest

When you have
13 hearts or more. Real red ones, yellow ones don't count.

I keep killing these Guardians and oh man it feels good kicking the living shit out of them. However I just want one more ancient core and I just don't get them. Where do we get these?

Hmmm... can't say I agree TBH. While the Great Plateau is basically the tutorial area, it's really hard to see that with how expansive the world is when you first see it. You'd have to be really picky to notice.

Plus the plateau area was great. I still never explored the entirety of it yet.

They're a bit of a rare drop I think.

Otherwise you can kind of just come across them in chests, or inside dead Guardians you find across the land.

I didn't like the Great Plateau's emptiness either. Still doesn't justify the 6/10 score.

Metacritic score for BOTW is now 97 with Jim Sterling's & Slant Magazine's review. Who knew two people had the power to change it. I'm slightly depressed about it TBH. I knew Jim would be the skeptical one, Escapist Zero Punctuation is probably next to make the next low score. Still regardless, I guess his review on the game is well-explained.

It's not the low scores I worried about TBH, it's how others will react to a one point decrease and how they'll use it to diss Zelda. :/

Metacritic is a flawed waste of space that has unfortunately become a big thing in the industry. The fact that certain reviewers carry more weight than others and metas score algorithm is a secret is enough to prove the whole thing revolves around one thing and one thing only...money.

Having a 98 Metacritic didn't exactly stop the subtle "zomg backlash incoming" trolling from some thread regulars before. I wouldn't worry too much about it.

I just spent about an hour playing the game in my car while waiting for parking. I became so engrossed that I missed my chance to get a spot twice.
