Man, the Three
Giant Brothers Shrine
Quest was amazing. Not only were the fights really fun,
I grabbed a thunder rod from one of the bokoblin henchmen, and the middle brother pulled a freakin' tree out of the ground to fight me.

As far as story is concerned I prefer this to Skyward Sword's narrative to be honest. Both are fairly run of the mill fantasy fluff, but at least BOTW has some mysteries to it that you uncover as you explore the world and get to know more of Hyrule's history by interacting with NPCs
/retrieving memories
. BOTW also shows the consequences of Ganon's actions right away and has a more interesting setting in general. Skyward Sword on the other hand felt extremely inconsequential and never reached any interesting narrative peaks. As far as Zelda plots go it was pretty monotone and low stakes.

the user reviews make me die of laughter

"30 years same game i love mario every year but link looks like a trans **** i love nintendo but the new zelda its just too gay for me. and looks like **** runs like **** and is pure **** i love the 1-2 tho what a game."

the " 1-2 tho what a game" made me squeal lol

Did the rito beast. Wtf was up with the stuff to get there... did Nintendo run out of time or something?

you get to village, they say go to that flag poll. Ok you fly there, talk to the rito he gives you three minutes to hit five targets, took me ten seconds. Ok ready for beast. What?!

I only did the Zora one and that at least had cool stuff to do. But this was pathetic. I really hope the others are far better. There is already very few scripted gameplay moments, I would like the few it has to be more interesting than that.

The beast was great though.

Got to the end with all the story quests and a good many of the sidequests done, and yet only 29.94 percent complete, oof!

Very good game. Very interested to see how the next big Zelda title continues. Honestly, they could either go for a completely open structure without even a central final boss, or they could take the mechanics and apply them to a slightly more structured package. I'd be fine with either direction. Of course, more traditional dungeons are a given. Hyrule Castle worked well, so they can certainly make something along those lines with multiple objectives.

I suppose I do think that Zelda (and the VA's performance) was a bit mopey, her
nerding out over a frog
was good.

It's by far the weakest lead-up to a Divine Beast in the game .

I finished it (the story).
That was honestly one of the worst Ganon fights in any Zelda game. They had a golden opportunity to utilse the wide range of items and abilities available to make an exciting, multiple phased boss fight... and they didn't. It honestly felt rushed, unfinished. Why was Zelda telling me what to do at the end? "Shoot the glowy bit". No, really? You sure Zelda. That and the completely lack luster ending cinematic and post credit scene. Bloody awful.

I'm upset, so i apologise if I come across as ranty. I'd really hoped that the amazing lead up to Ganon through the castle with that fantastic score was preparing us for the Ganon battle of a lifetime. Shame.

Really enjoyed the divine beasts and overworld. I only wished they were bigger. Top 5 Zelda game for sure.

still surprised how many classic enemies are missing. theres no piranha plants, likes likes, wallmasters, beamos, redeads, skulltulas, darknuts, helmasaurs (best LTTP boss), or crows.

Yeah the Ganon battle is better if you get there with the least amount of Divine Beast beaten. And Im not talking about more hp (as there would be no beasts attacking at the start) but they make you
beat every unbeaten ganon blight in a row.

Yeah no you're not wrong, these are common sentiments. Great game overall but they kind of punted on any potential interesting narrative elements,
including bosses.

119 Shrines and I can not find the last. Even looking at maps.

Are there any other clusters of shrines that might be hiding?

Got the three near the dueling peaks, and the one in Hyrule Castle.

Still it hurts as there are only four of these lead ups. MM every single dungeons lead up was just incredible. TP not only had 9 dungeons but I found the lead up to most all of them to be great. This game has four and only three are good, come on.

yeah,it's baffling how there's a shitton of enemies and other stuff straight from the other zelda games that they could have used to fill the world even more but they didn't use...maybe a problem of resources..maybe with the next zelda...

The game more than makes up for it with....everything else. And even so, I still think the four Divine Beasts are all fantastic in their own right.

That being said, if you're a massive fan of the standard Zelda structure and didn't want it to change, nothing I or anyone else says is going to convince you otherwise.

That attitude doesn't lead to improvements. There is ton of potential for this new formula to become godly. There is no reason to not have dungeons. There is no reason to not have more unique gameplay variety and situations like the ones that occur as you go into dungeons. Everything can stay as it is, just less of the mundane and more of the special.

I never said the game is perfect and I never said there isn't room for improvement. However, what Zelda no longer needs to do is fall back on its decades of tropes for future entries. Some traditional dungeons in the future would be neat, but they're certainly not a requirement any longer.

Both are pretty weak but I think I agree. I think SS had huge potential in the first half but it amounted to nothing. The first time you go the desert in SS had me thinking of so many possibilities

Equipping a fire rod keeps you warm... this game is blowing my mind

oh shit

Must say in terms of main story this game is pretty bland. Link is surprisingly lacking in character too (I suppose it makes sense since
he has been raised to be a soldier since an early age
. Frankly previous games did the story better (skyward sword, twilight princess, windwaker etc).

Zelda's English voice acting is completely bullocks.

Yeah, I was expecting a lot more of a stronger narrative. I honestly thought this would somehow be almost a story driven game.

Although I've never really played Zelda for its story, so it's still better than any of the other games IMO, but I was expecting more here.

Hahaha, no way, they make you fight every undefeated Ganon blight at the end? I can't wait to see speedrunners widely running this game.

When I saw Ganon get nuked for half health I was kind of just like 'oh, is that all?'

Korok Seed
There's are three boulders in a row outside of the second lab and then a decline and and incline. The incline has a place for the boulder. Am I really supposed to just hit it in there? It's really frustrating and I just gave up. Stasis is not that precise and I spent a good 10-15 minutes trying to get it in the whole and then it slides out and goes back down the hill... fuck that.

If im remembering correctly, theres 2 trees down below. Roll any boulder between the 2 trees.

I think this is the nature of all the games. It is clear with Wind Waker and Skyward Sword we see the seeds of Breath of the Wild be sown. And with Ocarina and Majoras Mask and Twilight Princess as well.

The next game, I don't think there will be these many shrines, towers to activate, the wilderness aspect. Who knows though. I wish there was more linearity thrown in for the crucial storyline. I have been hearing the Mass Effect Andromeda devs. They have a good mindset on how they are approaching it. This could have used a few traditional dungeons for sure.

LMAO this Lynel is some Dark Souls shit when you only have 4 hearts. Destroying my best weapons on parry flurries after only doing 1/8th damage to his health bar (I get the concept but weapons break like 10x too fast in this game). Died like 50 times but no rage, just obviously won't get accomplished at this point. I don't belong here yet. Sorry Zora peoples, gotta bail for now.

Nothing's a requirement clearly as shown by this game. The question I ask myself though is if anything in BOTW better than the classic Zelda dungeon and the answer for me is no. The beasts are not better. The shrines are not a good replacement. So then why take away something that was the pinnacle of game design in the series, just for the sake of being different? Everything can work just the same in this game but with better designed levels and segments which dungeons would provide.

My dream game is this but mixed with the more directed gameplay sequences of past zelda games. Obviously using the new physics based mechanics.

I've been avoiding these threads like crazy, but having seen no hint to anything regarding the
triforce
, I'd like to know if it's in the game. Simple yes / no would be great, thanks!

Found this island to the edge of the world
Eventide Island
What a surprise it turned out to be. My favorite experience so far.

After getting used to it, I don't mind the weapons breaking, however, I wish they would only take damage after getting the killing blow on an enemy. Having one go out mid fight is really, really frustrating.

Or if you try the "modest" or "major" test of strength shrines early on and you go through 3 or 4 weapons.

It makes a very brief visual appearance, but it's not persistent at all like it has been before.

I tought the world was veeeeeery huge. I speed hacked that quest on ridgeland tower (the one to fly as far as you can go). I flew to eventide island. Apparently the distance is 8KM.

I tought it would be like 3 times that, the game feels huge. I guess making traversal difficult goes a long way to make the game appear bigger than it truly is.

I just found out the fastest route to a certain shield, you can get it about 15 minutes after leaving the starting area if you're clever and resourceful enough.

Hylian shield

What you need:
Bow and arrows
At least 3 stamina refilling foods (Yellow wheel recovery foods)
Some weapons to kill a large enemy

Go to the north of the castle, on the left hand side on the map you can see a sort of beach-like decline with a large redish pillar to the right, look across that part of the mote towards the castle and you will see a hole in the wall, you need 2 or 3 stamina recovering items (the ones that fully recover your stamina- they give you yellow stamina wheel) and you can jump and glide from the pillar, climb the wall and enter that hole. Once in the hole you need to use a bow and arrow, there's a bent portion of the prison cell bars that shows you a dark goo eyeball, shoot it and the doors will open, travel to the end of the hallway and fight a giant skeleton, once you beat him you'll get a chest. Gratz you have the iconic shield of the series.

Seems like you didnt pay atention to the Zora people, they never told you to kill it!
