You aren't exposed to different cultures and viewpoints as a gamer because of anonymity. Gamers sort of created their own tribalism with console wars. I don't think gamers are socially equipped to understand real life minority groups.
I understand most gamers live healthy, balanced lives, but there's always the ones who do not.

Same here. I didn't really like Dan at first but he's amazing. Seems like the kind of guy who can just sit down and have a genuinely nice chat with anyone. I'd love to meet him one day.
The funny thing is, it used to be that people thought Egoraptor was probably at fault for causing the break. After Jon started revealing his true nature, I think most people would probably conclude that Jon was always the problem. Like, he always said some shitty things, but I think we all saw him as a lovable goof that was saying silly things. However, there is a good chance that the grumps, who worked with him intimately, were confronted by who he was all along and they didn't like it.

True. It's not about games themselves, but about these guys finding a platform on which to spread their hate. Still, I feel like gaming tends to attract many of these people. Though that could probably be because I'm not as invested in other hobbies or communities as I am here, so it could still happen elsewhere and I don't hear about it.

It's puts more weight to the shit views posted as it has been legitimized as a channel.
It's a bit "old man shouts at clouds" but the increasing focus on "sound bites" (which is all Twitter, What'sup, etc are in the end) for important topics is a negative trend for me and its worsening not improving our society and behavior.
None of these topics should be sound bites yet increasingly that's all they are.

I don't understand the line of argument where (I presume) liberals are "hypocritical" for thinking racial homogeneity is fine in countries like Japan. I don't feel strongly about how they run their country because their culture has nothing to do with mine, so I don't say anything. But if pressed, I totally think that the lack of diversity in other countries is fucking pathetic, their weakness not strength. We should take it a sign of pride that other people want to come live in the west, a sign of integrity that we want them, and understand that it is this attitude and the results that we get out of it that continues to make us great.
