Colin Moriarty is leaving Kinda Funny Games.

The interesting thing I realized today is that Greg and the others talk a lot about how they are just four guys who are best friends who are supported by fans and are just being themselves and how these things are the growing pains associated along with that and how they just want their community to be better Internet people...

Except Easy Allies does just fine doing the same thing. Hell, Giant Bomb created the personality-focused content supported by subscribers and for all the flaws that community has had over the years they've grown up a lot and I can't remember a single instance where anyone from GB or EA has had these problems.

It'll be interesting to see if the problem is inherent to Colin or Kinda Funny in general.

Oh yeah for sure. I don't follow his podcast as often as before. Who knows

The worst fucking guest he had for me was..drumroll...our pal jontron. Even when talking about videogames he spouted random garbage (he went on an entire tirade as to how games were "better before"...better how we'll never quite understand, but that's Jon "Gene Pool Diluting" Tron)

(Damn I had a really bad typo in my post, Colin constantly trashes PC*)

How long ago was his podcast with JonTron? How did the rest of the hosts act with his shitspewing?

That podcast is probably one of the better ones out there. I don't even own a gaming PC but I like hearing them breakdown gaming related news.

someone pulled the literal meaning of a word before. so here you go:

You realize that it's referring to the government right? All free speech means is that you can't be thrown into jail for what you say, but even then there are limits like threats and so on.

The fact he's hanging out with Glenn Beck should tell you all you need to know about Colin Moriarty. But look at who's President, it seems these days the more hateful you are the more opportunities you're given in the political arena.

I knew something was wrong with that dude.

"all of the alt right celebrities emerge from the forest silently like the robots from westworld and take colin moriarty into their arms"

Oh my god.

I'm okay with this. My listening dropped a lot as I've basically been avoiding every podcast that he was part of for the last couple months. The incessant politics and cynicism really drove me away from enjoying them. I didn't mind his occasional political discussion, or cynical rant on other subjects, in fact it was refreshing, but I didn't go there to hear it every single day. I guess he just can't get his mind off it, which is understandable, so I think it's best for everyone that he takes it somewhere else, somewhere that's not supposed to be primarily about games and other fun stuff. Good luck to him.

- post unfunny insensitive troll bait "joke"
- double down and insult people asking for an adult response
- play the victim on right wing media
- await book/radio/tv gig

Ah yes, the republican playbook. Gfy Colin. It's disgusting how he used his "friends" and business partners as a spring board for his personal career, leaving them to deal with his fallout. What a stand up guy!

i'm defending free speech.

Free speech doesn't mean what you think it does. learn it for the nth time:

IT MEANS THE GOVERNMENT CANNOT ARREST YOU FOR SHARING AN OPINION.

It doesn't mean others have to listen to it.

(all this ignoring the fact that many western nations actually have laws preventing hate speech).

Trump found his new man servant to shine his shoes.

You're defending the right to be racist/sexist. Free speech has societal limits you ass.

Define "societal" limits. Do you mean the limits that "we" have decided that one cannot say and suffer the consequences of such speech, or do you mean that there are actual governmental limits on free speech?

Really, it poses such an interesting question if its the former. Never before in human history have "WE" been able to communicate and/or organize as quickly as we do now.

Hahahahahaha

No one is speaking *against* free speech, you're fighting an argument that doesn't exist here and ignoring all logic presented towards you

I wonder why you'd defend Colin tbh 🤔🤔🤔
All to defend a racist of all people. It's kinda funny when real harm is being done and civil rights are being eroded certain people are silent, but as soon as a racist faces major backlash, they're suddenly proud defenders of the Constitution in response to a non-existant threat.

The thing there is, we don't have a relationship with him, but his persona. Don't really see how testaments to his quality in private life have anything to do with mitigating his behavior in public life.

That's a sad disconnect, perhaps. But "my girlfriend and friends like me, think I'm tolerant and open to criticism and debate" doesn't cut it as proof that in his talking head career he is also those things. The latter is about his actions in the public sphere.

Admittedly, it is far too tempting to move in the other direction too and see him as evil incarnate because of a toxic persona. Who someone is does find expression in public, but it is rarely the whole picture.

When is it enough of a picture?

Or, alternatively, how many posts in here are really besmirching his private character anyway and not just about disliking his persona?

Good points, though it's hard to tell sometimes if people are going after his public or private persona. Of course, no one can really speak accurately on his private persona without knowing him. From as long as I've followed him, (which was maybe since like early 2015) I think he has shown the "he genuinely wants the best for people" thing well at times, though I definitely don't agree with how he presents himself all the time, don't know if how he goes about things is necessarily productive to what he wants. I see some of what he does as hypocritical to his stances (no one is perfect). I can't hate or strongly dislike him like a lot of people on here do because I do see him as a person that has good intentions.

I often find him interesting to hear nonetheless, so I'll probably continue listen to him in his political ventures despite of the above things, because aside from certain aspects of himself, I think he does have a lot of very reasonable points and outlooks on things, and he can articulate them well. Definitely makes me think a lot about certain issues at times.

who says that what he is saying is "hate speech"?

again, that's your opinion. people have different opinions, let them have them.

In my opinion, Colin is a piece of shit human being, also he can fuck off. That's all I'm saying here. I'm not censoring or restraining his freedom of speech by saying that. Nobody here is censoring him. LOL

It was a while ago, like maybe half a year ? (I also remember they had Dunkey two weeks later or something, it was great)

I think they just didn't react much cuz...really there was really nothing to debate. The whole argument was fairly harmless (just spouting about video games) but I could kinda see that Jesse, Dodger and TB were just trying to actually comprehend what was Jon's point, and just did some dismissive "yeah okay" here and there. I don't think they thought much of it, but really it just shows more how incapable Jon is at formulating an actual point about anything. He just rambles on and on and he always concluded with a variant of "I dunno, that's just how I feel anyway"

Come the fuck on. They have known each other professionally for years.

I don't like colin but he isn't fucking steve bannon. That would be a bad light.
Wow. I wish I could say I'm surprised people are targeting Neil..but I'm not. There are other devs tweeting encouraging messages to Colin as well. You know, people who actually know him as a person.

It's just amazing that Colin would recently follow JonTron after all of this.

Did he do that? Wasn't aware, didn't know you could tell such a thing on Twitter. Even still, following someone on Twitter is hardly a seal of approval. I follow DJT on Twitter. (perhaps against my better judgement)

I liked Colin on Kinda Funny so it's sad to see him go in that respect. Didn't and don't really care about his political beliefs so I'll let you all discuss that. Hopefully now though we don't have to have anymore PS I Love you threads where people are arguing politics and their love or hate for him and let the discussion be about the show.

Why the F is this thread 50 pages?

People are really upset he left?

It's more posts from people who are happy he left I would assume.
