OK,
forgotten temple
was really great, I do wish there was more treasure. But it was fun.

Also, I went into this Shrine in the snow region next to the stable I think, and it says something about winds but I just used the metal box to swing the ball in when I needed. Was I suppose to do something else?

If you don't care about the shrine chest you're good

you need the metal boxes to cross a gap at the top of the area to get the shrine chest

So there was a Shrine in the South West, near a girl
with a mountain of dubious food
. I don't know how the hell I was supposed to do this shrine, it had a blue / orange switch that moved platforms up and down, and a platform that moved horizontally along the ground. I cheesed it by setting down 2 bombs out of range of each other but close enough to hit the switch, and used a haste elixir to paraglide across to a platform I shouldn't have been able to reach.

I then detonated the bombs individually to raise the platforms I needed to get to the exit.

Heh totally how I feel too (through I still enjoyed TP and SS, just not so highly).
There were some aspects of both TP and SS that I liked. Midna and TP's final final boss was cool (
TP Zelda could have probably taken Ganondorf on her own
) and SS had an interesting story hook, plus some lovely, lovely art.

It just felt like you were repeating stuff over and over (those popups in SS arghhh/motion controls, etc).

I feel like I can sense some renewed passion from the devs, for lack of a better explanation, in BOTW. Probably just me projecting mine though. Zelda captured my heart with OTT and it feels good to be thinking so positively about this series again.

Northern map question

how do you navigate the lost woods? I got the master sword but I want to go to the other locations too.

Also, how many shrines are in that area. I only got three. Seems way too low.

There's 4 in
korok forest
alone

If it is what I remember the shrine is,
there's a laser beam source fixed in front of a treasure chest. Knock it out of its place with stasis and bring the source to the moving ground platform. It should do the switching for you when the laser beam moves back and forth the switch.

Seriously is there a recipe that allows you to climb in the rain because the shit is annoying

I haven't found one.

The best I know you can do is: find an overhang, put down wood and flint, strike with a metal weapon to start a fire, and sit by the fire until the next day.

By the way, it is possible to make progress climbing in the rain, if you have tons of stamina. If you climb a little, then jump right before you slip, then slip, you'll have made a little progress.

That's the one! I had no idea that
laser thing could be moved, I also had no idea why the hell it was there.
It's hilarious I was able to finish it with an alternate method

Where in the world is the shrine near Hebra North Summit? I feel like I've combed the entire mountain at this point, but the beeper keeps going off nonsensically.

Any hint would be appreciated

EDIT: Figured it out, holy fuck!

Are Ruby, saphires stones spawnable?

I've only gotten sapphires from chests but I've gotten a bunch of rubies from ores before. Theyre uncommon I guess.

I usually just switch languages and reload from an autosave before a cutscene. Zelda's JPN VA fits her character perfectly.

I hope theres a cutscene compilation on YT with Japanese VA. I'm totally gonna look for one once I'm finished with the game.

Yeah. Some shrines can be done with unconventional methods, especially if you have the tools for the job.

I haven't been there, but if you can't see it, maybe it's hidden in a small cave covered by rocks that you can bomb.

If you're talking about mining spots then yes. They drop randomly though so there's no guarantee that you'll always get the same minerals from the same spots.

Some are located in treasure chests, and those respawn every Blood Moon.

Finally beat my second
divine beast (Medoh)
today. Probably my favorite of the two I've cleared thus far. The puzzles were clever and the boss fight was fun I thought. I had a surplus of arrow bombs, so I let him have them :D

There's something really cool and bittersweet about (Lost Woods)
all the koroks in korok village recognizing you as the hero on sight
.

Also, the Lost Woods are amazing in this game. Such a perfect mechanic.

Beat the
pitch black forest
challenge today. That was interesting.

My favorite part of the game is upgrading my armor. The set bonuses are really neat. I just wish the amiibo armor weren't so freaking hard to upgrade. Also the
Dark Link
armor from the roaming nighttime vendor is literal trash. Horrible stats and it can't be upgraded. Not worth the time and effort.

Can we take a moment and talk about how brilliant the lost woods puzzle is? No hints no text it just throws you in and gives you two things.

A torch and a place to light it. I just thought it was a light source but after about 4 or 5 failed attempts I started to look for any signs of a correct way to go I knew that I could go fairly far left after my repeated failures so I started there. I tried a few different things like keeping my path lined up with the tree faces but I was still stumped

Finally I stopped and reassessed the situation. I knew the game had given me a torch and fire and then while I was thinking I noticed the wind was blowing the torch left. So I followed it's direction I then noticed the direction of the embers had changed. So I shifted direction and I eventually wound up at the Deku tree. The wind guided me through the lost woods in an invisible way

The game so subtly gave you the tools to find the answer and then made brilliant use of the physics engine to bring you to your destination it absolutely blew me away.

This is the kind of mind bending think outside the box puzzle that I love in Zelda and other games and it's been missing for so long.

Dang I didn't even think of
carrying a torch. After there stopped being torches planted in the ground, I just watched the movement of the fog closely. Gotta love the multiple solutions to the puzzles...

I beat this shrine exactly the same way. You didn't need speed potions though.

Did you find the one
behind blocks of ice
? That's the only one I remember in Hebra, sorry if it's not the one you're looking for.

Im getting tired of Ganon's theme. 9n bosses,last level,etc.
it doesn't fit with heroic music
They should leave it for the stories.

Tip: if you need to melt a block of ice and don't have any fire arrows, pulling out a flamesword and standing next to the ice will melt it - you don't even have to swing at the ice.

There are no stats in this game though correct? I was just looking and couldn't find my playtime anywhere.

The Switch itself has playtimes if you visit your profile.

If you've played a game for less than 10 days, it just says "First played X days ago" (e.g. "First played 6 days ago"). If you've played a game for more than 10 days, it tells you the amount of time you've played. Granularity is in 5 hour increments.

I actually just put down some wood and flint, start a fire, then use a torch. Lots of options!

WiiU?

EDIT: Nvm Found it lol 54hrs, one
Devine Beast
down, second about to be.

Ok, so I've now activated every single tower in the game and have collected a ton of loot and did some other stuff like
bought and dressed up the house in hateno village
and upgraded a bunch of stuff. On a whim I decided to make a run on Hyrule Castle and holy shit that entire sequence is fantastic. I got so much amazing loot.

You can put down wood and set it on fire with a flame sword without even needing flint! Keep the flame sword out and it'll melt even faster! Do it all!

Guys.... I think that age old gif of Ryan O'Donnell from the 1up show way back when Gears of War 2 came out ... the one with the "the only problem with this game is that it's almost too good".

yeah, that's how I'm really beginning to feel about Zelda right now. I've put 40 hours into this game in 8 days and I took an entire day off from playing it in the middle. I've completed 2 dungeons , 41 shrines , 44 korok seeds ,
found all 13 memories
and filled out the entire map by grabbing every tower.
I've also found 2 great ferries and one place of power ... but can't quite pull out the master sword because I like having 2 endurance wheels
.

I mean seriously, once I'm done with this game in a couple more weeks I'll have to just stop playing games for a while to have a cool down because nothing else I play will come close to this until the next Zelda ... which is probably a 2022 game at the rate Nintendo makes them.

I'm curious to enter the Hyrule Castle just for the loot.

I'm missing one shrine and it's driving me nuts. What were the most missable ones in your eyes. GAF?

I'm missing 3 and they're all Quest related, so I'm now doing
the generic ones, hoping to lead to the Shrine ones.
I have quite a few to do, however. Ugh.

And yeah, Hyrule Castle is simply fantastic design. You could probably go through it 3 times and not find everything.

Same here thats why i will wait a few months before buying Horizon, Resident Evil 7 , Nioh, Nier and Mass Effect. (probably will buy em around summer) also because i still need to catch up on my ps4 backlog but will also take a small pause from that to not burn out on games.

The post-Zelda blues are going to suck.

Can confirm.

Was there a laser in there? Because you could pick it up and put it on the horizontal platform to constantly hit the switch.

There's one in hebra that I couldn't find, the sensor went off all around this mountain but it wasn't on top of the mountain and it didn't look like there was a way into the mountain.

that might be the one you have to fall and there's a wall you have to blow up with a bomb arrow. There's no ledge to stand on, I found it on accident
