Guys. I really don't want this to end. I'm having too much fun with this and the only consolation is the amount of side quests I still have to go through. Part of me is wanting to hold off and focus on more exploration and the quests but I'm worried that the longer I hold off finishing the story, the more chance I'll encounter ending spoilers. Time to suck it up, I guess.
I love that they actually address there being Hylians this time. In Twilight Princess, it was always "human human human" and it didn't make sense. Even Wind Waker failed a bit at this and only mentioned "pointy eared girls". There were rounded ear characters as well!
And let's not forget the Ganondorf rounded ears (OoT, TP) vs. pointed ears (WW) despite all supposedly being the same guy. That stuff matters if the Gerudo aren't supposed to have pointy ears! Lol.
You know what this game really needs? / What I hope the winter DLC is.
A post game challenge dungeon or something that gets harder every time you beat it, like bitter black isle in dragons dogma.
I've got all these awesome weapons and things and almost nothing to use them on other than lynels, which I no longer need to kill since I fully upgraded my barbarian set lol.
So if I fast travel away from my horse I can't summon it? So when I need to be in another area and have to travel on foot for a long period of time I don't have access to my horse?
Ugh. I don't understand that from a design perspective. It should function like in most modern RPGs with mounts.

You let the game tell you the solution. Im convinced that was made for gamers like us that are too used to the game telling them what to do. Kind of like a last resort for the devs so the players realize "oh so there is cooking and I can use it to get an item".
Besides just experimenting creating different anti cold food and ignoring the clothes, there are other ways that I discovered later in the game and then realized they were availible in the plateau.
Edit: heck some players didnt even get the clothes by trading food for it, they got kt for free in the plateau after the game congratulated them for navigating the peaks without them.

Fought my way through the Gut Check challenge, a little tough because i only have two extra stamina bars and no climbing gear. Got to the top and got the Goron to get out of the way and let me in the shrine, and the shrine's greeting reads
"merely by getting here, you have proven your worth."
Then I go east from there into northern Akkala and come across another shrine. It's on the top of a tall pillar and i was rained out for a bit, so i fought a nearby group of bokoblins for a while, then ran back and got into that shrine,
and it said the same thing. Freebies!
Edit: Horses are good for exploring, basically, when you're cutting through country you haven't seen before but want something that can get you through the empty parts quickly.
I've got like 100 shrines done, almost all the side quests completed, almost every single piece of wearable armor except 1 set you get from 120 shrines and 1 monster mask. But only 60 seeds so my % counter is at 29.95%
Finished the game (again), this time with all dungeons, all memories, and
the Master Sword.
Also explored the whole map, did 92 shrines, and found 161 korok seeds. Completion percentage was 33.82%. Final playtime was 106:09...oof.
I can see why a lot of people were underwhelmed by the final boss, it's pretty short and easy if you go there decked out with OP gear and weapons and healing after clearing all dungeons. If you go early with a low heart count and some dungeons not cleared it makes for a pretty fun challenge though, and since that's how I experienced it originally I can't hate it on like everyone else.
On the game as a whole, the biggest problem I had other than the performance was the lack of overworld bosses. Because the game has a severe lack of region-specific overworld bosses, you can see every non-dungeon boss in the game with only having explored ~30% of the map. The game is at it's best when you have no idea what to expect next, but by the time I explored half the map I was thinking "I've seen every really unique thing there is to find, haven't I?", and that's a really bad thing to be thinking in this game. I was wrong, thankfully, but constantly running into new bosses would have helped to keep me unsure of what to expect next. I feel at least every major region (when the map is zoomed out to max) should have had a unique overworld boss.
The
Gerudo Region does this perfectly with Molduga, which comes out of nowhere if you're not expecting it and plays like no other fight in the game. Running into Molduga for the first time and proceeding to beat it Dirge-style with a sand seal
was one my favorite moments in this game, I just wish there were a lot more like this. Imagine running into some sort of giant Yeti or Snowman in Hebra, or a giant lava monster in Eldin, a huge gorilla boss in Faron, having to fight a shark off the coast of Lanayru, and so on. Running into a Hinox is cool the first time, and maybe the second time too if you find yourself at a disadvantage due to being in a challenge area, but after you know what to expect they're no longer intimidating. New bosses to find everywhere would have kept the player on their toes and thinking they could run into something deadly at any moment, even in the lategame when you become crazy powerful.
This problem extends to enemy variety too, as there are no(?) region-specific enemy types, just variations of existing enemies. When you go to Eldin, you're not guessing what kind of enemies you'll find there, you already know it'll just be more Bokoblins and Lizalfos but with fire. I think enemy variety isn't as big a deal as bosses though, simply because a new boss to find is way more exciting than a new standard enemy. The only enemy omission I'm really bothered by is Darknuts because they'd be PERFECT for this game. Darknuts were already the most technical enemy in most games they showed up in, now imagine a Darknut that's as tough as a Lynel. They could only appear in Hyrule Castle for all I care, but they should have been in somewhere.
Complaints aside I still adored the game and it's probably my second favorite Zelda game now, right after Majora's Mask.
Before I put the game down for good I think I'm gonna start a new file just to test some things out and do a straight-to-ganon run.

Just finished this after a bit over 50 hours. Now I can just relax and explore until Persona drops. I went from never finishing games to beating both FFXV and this. 😲

If you can find where they hang out then it usually only takes a few minutes. The hard part is to find a pond or river where they live. I'm looking for them too.
Traveling from higher ground then paragliding obviously is much faster to cover space, especially if the fast travel is from the tower or cliff. Horses are there to travel faster from the ground, especially regions you haven't gone or landmarks that you might miss on the ground.
After a certain point most of the shrines you'll have left are from shrine quests (that's about where I'm at I think I only have 2-3 over world shrines left)
Let me just say, the shrines in hebra were the worst ones to find, they were easily the most complex to reach.
