So I tried to check if you can bypass the (Gerudo area stuff)
Yiga Clan stealth mission. Entered the boss arena from the back, Master Kohga doesn't spawn. Tried to enter the hideout from there, but the reversible door is made of rock from behind. Checked the front entrance just to see if it can be done early, but it looks like no. Front entrance is blocked off, I assume until you get the quest for the Thunder Helm from Riju.

Really weird that they'd actually make you do this in the intended order, considering just about everything else in the game can be done out of order.

On a side note I'm amazed at the size of this game. All the previews made it look big, but viewable from the plateau where you could see Hyrule Castle, Death Mountain and that bird plane thing. When you start playing it though it's ridiculous how big each part of the map is.

I feel silly for being concerned about the world being 'boring' and not having enough villages or NPCs.

I would trade in my sneaking suit and my warm suit for some gloves/shoes to climb in the fuuuuucking rain.

Thanks for the response. I thought I would ask here for a more definitive answer because I've been browsing some other sites and commenters have been saying that the Wii U basic does not have enough space whilst some are claiming it does.

That's probably if you want to buy the digital game which takes 13 GB, more than what the basic has.

Yeah. This was another thing that made me not want to do the Zora area. Once you're used to climbing everything rain makes you feel so restricted.

Just saw this on reddit

over 80 hours in and I'm not gonna ruin that by asking how to get that outfit :(

Pls don't tell me it's amiibo thing.

I'm guessing it's because it's part of the whole divine beast quest. No way to actually get into the divine beasts without doing the whole quest

Aghhh I scanned my smash bros Link amiibo not knowing it would
summon Epona, when I was on a mountain top in Lanayru with absolutely no way of getting her down -___- whyyy

I'm seeing conflicting reports of whether this was a one-time feature or just a rare occurrence

Same thing happened here, up until that point the Amiibo had dropped other useful goodies and when
Epona
dropped I was atop a mountain. Three days later and
she
hasn't reappeared, have we missed the opportunity?

I spawned her on my first scan on the Great Plateau :( No way to get down to register her. Have been scanning again every day since (about 10 days) and haven't seen her again. I'm holding out hope that it's not a one time thing.

Can someone give me some pointers regarding how to dodge correctly? I usually get hit out of it.
Dodging works better if you dodge in the correct direction: For vertical attacks, jump to the sides, for horizontal attacks jump backwards. Time it right and you´ll get a Flurry Attack. I killed the lighting arrow Lynel with this, in fact this enemy helped me a lot to learn to dodge correctly as it´s attacks are easier to predict than Lizalfos or Bokoblins who will change timing depending on the weapon they´re using.

I'm sorry if this has been asked before but I have a Wii U basic with no added storage. Is it possible for me to buy this game on disc and play the game with the mandatory install and updates? Thanks in advance
The update is only 1GB so you should be fine.

Why are torches so hard to come by? Or am I stupid. Need to carry this blue flame thing in Northern Akkala. Couldn't find a torch anywhere near it...

Edit: traveled back to the Plateu, remembered the tree branch you get immediately upon starting the game.
There is a torch inside the lab.

I don't know any other game that frequently cockblocks what you want/need to do 80% of the time with no way around it but waiting.

Can confirm I got mine twice.

Excellent news, thank you!

Something else I wanted to ask, I've been avoiding spoilers like the plague and am about 20hrs in without even tackling
the first dungeon
. In fact I've only just checked the quest log and realised I need to visit
Hatona Village
so that's where I'm headed next. However after just realising I can
shield surf
I can't shake the feeling perhaps I'm missing other features; without spoiling anything is there something I may be missing?

If you go to Gerudo area first, will the area have weaker mobs in general?
Zora seems to be designed for the first attempt of a Titan

Having to plan around rainfall is kind of getting tiring. This blue flame quest is making me angry. The first one made me super angey because I got the Blood Moon glitch in the middle and now this one because it's a long walk and rain keeps pouring...

And for some reason the binoculars cancel carrying a torch. Fuck me.
Edit: and my tree branch just broke.. anything that will last longer?

It is possible to find the classic Link outfit and Epona on the game without amiibos?

(Don't want to know how, just want be sure)

Outfit yes, horse no

That specific one might be, but there is a non-amiibo way.

Yeah, but
I don't see why you can't walk into Gerudo Town with the Thunder Helm already in hand. Like with Zora's Domain, you can skip the Lynel part if you have shock arrows on hand when you arrive. I haven't checked myself, but I'm pretty sure in Goron City you can save Yunobo before ever talking to the elder. Gerudo quest structure is just weirdly rigid.

It's kinda of a Zelda tradition. Remember the gate to Hyrule in OOT that unless you were rolling right away from the forest will always close before you arrive?

That's to make it more immersive...
lol

Try using a torch instead of a stick and light the empty torches along the way. That way you don't have to head to the bottom every time it extinguishes.

Um...am I supposed to have some armor that protects me from burning by now? I'm at the divine beast and I find it hard to believe that the game would require me to have a bunch of elixirs on me to explore this place and figure out the puzzles. I mean it makes sense for the linear segment to getting here, but in a more puzzle focused section where you clearly are going to be taking your time, nah, no way would they design it that you need consumables for this. Is there some armour I haven't picked up or something?

FeelsBadMan.

Oh well goblin helmet is better anyways :P

I'm listening.

It's the reward for clearing all 120 shrines

You can buy fireproof armor in Goron City.

So on the weekend I got quite good at killing guardians with parries.

Yesterday I couldn't time it correctly at all. I don't know what I was doing wrong. It worked fine the day before. So weird. I'm terrible at timing things.

Oh, didn't see any empty torches. Maybe I didn't take the "intended" path. Any good place to get torches?

Like in every other main city, you will be able to acquire that gear in the region-specific town's armour shop.

I don't understand the twin shrines on the mountaintop that involve memorizing each other.

They have the same puzzle.
I matched them and it completed one of the shrines, but the other remains incomplete? Wtf

Copy the pattern from both shrines, to the other shrines. You have to change them both. It's two easy spirit orbs.

1. Yes, you can buy some armor to protect you from burning in Goron City, it costs a pretty penny though.
2. You can buy elixirs for burn protection quite cheap, which lasts for 6+ minutes. No dungeon in this game should last you over 45 minutes though.

They are opposites! They want what the other has.

Arrange them so that they are matching how the other one started.

I did. Well, I
matched one shrine to the other, and it solved that shrine. But I checked back with the first shrine, and it didn't solve. I tried changing both to match each other again, and it still didn't solve.

Oh. I don't remember what the first one has anymore. Did I ruin it?

But I already bought that and it became ineffective once I got closer to death mountain. Unless you're required to wear the entire set?
You have four slots that will affect your temperature (head chest legs and weapon) and at minimum two of them need to be filled to take on any serious elements. So yes you need to wear at least two pieces of the armor or one piece and an ice weapon.

I took pictures of them with my Switch. Give me a minute!

There's supposed to be one in or near the lab. You can also warp around and check near the cooking pots, there's often one close.
And the torches look like little shrines that are empty inside.

I actually have several ice weapons and that didn't help so I assumed I needed some special kind of armour I got later. But anyways I've bought the boots now and it's effective.

There was one in the lab! Thank you dude! Oh, ok, I'll look around for those empty shrines...

Sometimes this game is so fucking obtuse. The entire thing is about openness and freedom and then they have these 'stealth' or 'follow' quests which are even worse than Assassin's Creed.

This is one of the best games I've ever played but its so weird when the game seems to just go out of the window, they clearly know better ways of designing games than this.

Well, the timing is different depending on your distance with the guardian.

In my case, If it's too far away, I try parry too soon. If it's too close, I can't react fast enough.

Mid range is the sweet spot for me and got that one down. Also, go for the legs on the walking ones. You can kill them before they have the chance to shoot.

They're not meant to match each other. You have to essentially 'switch' the layout of the orbs in each shrine. So if Shrine one has pattern X and Shrine two has pattern Y, you need to give Shrine one pattern Y to solve it, and give Shrine two Pattern X.

Nowhere near the same.

BUT for full disclosure, I am particularly irritated now because I forgot how to get up to the Lynel with the electric arrows and have spent two
FUUUUCKING
hours trying to figure out how to get up there again. I think maybe it involved a waterfall but because I have neither found that waterfall again nor can I explore by water to find it because of the
way-over-applied
stamina system, I'm pretty much stuck running around any path I can find to see if one of them actually gets up there. So far they all just run stupidly large circles around stupidly high cliffs you can't climb because of the stupid rain.

Such great design you have to search youtubes to see how to get back to the second main quest of the game.
And Nintendo is trying to cockblock youtubes as well.
